Thank you for cross-posting this fascinating article. As an interested but relatively uninformed observer of world affairs, I have long wondered why the Kurds did not have their own country. Superficially, it appears that the opposition of the governments of the four countries over which most of the Kurdish population lies (Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria) is sufficient to keep their aspirations in check. And the major foreign backers of those four countries' governments deem the desires of those governments to be more important to their own interests than the creation of a Kurdistan. However, it would also appear from this article that the enormous fractures within and among the Kurdish people also prevent the realization of this aspiration. Are the Kurds like the Palestinians in that regard? (Politically, I mean. I'm aware that the Kurds are a distinct ethnic and cultural group, and not just a subgroup of a larger ethno-cultural group).
Please allow me to just vamp: I may not make any sense, because I am so disgusted with "orange satan" that I have to let my feelings about this creep out!
Here is my reaction to "orange satan's" photo op at Arlington Nation Cemetery: How dare he give a "thumbs up", while smiling over the graves of men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country! What an excuse for a human being! I cannot understand why this maggot is not locked up in jail for life! He is a traitor, plain and simple! Why is he allowed to run for POTUS, let alone, walk free in this country! To me, he is 10 times worse than Benedict Arnold ever was-why, because he WAS POTUS! He WAS the Commander in Chief! Yet, look what he has says about our country! Look what he says about our men and women in uniform! Look what he says about our men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country! Look what he says about our heroes, like John McCain! Look what he has done to our Supreme Court! Look what he has done to the GOP! This maggot has no idea what sacrifice is! This maggot has no idea what a hero is! This maggot has no idea what decency is! This maggot is pure evil!

The division among the people is what the enemies will exploit, and often successfully. That is why visionary leadership often distinguishes him/herself by giving a unifying reason to move on from the status quo. Various political and racial divisions are the reasons that the Burmese military continues to hold onto power. Sometimes you need a vision larger than yourself or your party, to be able to take your country to the next level.
