The media is massively complicit in not getting Biden's message out. Granted, they can do more, somehow, but the flow of information is governed by corporate-controlled news media.

Here's an example from late October, 2023. Biden had announced a major advancement or something or other: student loan forgiveness, massive funding for infrastructure, whatever. Lester Holt on the night I watched? Crickets. The closing story was about a farmer somewhere who painted the likeness of Taylor Swift on a truly massive pumpkin. Two to three minutes on this non-story.

My wife and I watch Holt most every night. I keep track of the real news during the day to keep tabs on what Holt reports that evening. Very little of what is actually important to this country under the leadership of President Biden is ever reported. Ever.

Exactly, its as if anything Biden positive - must be reacted negatively "to balance" the news of each. TFG negatives are everyday, but the news knows if they message Biden's wins - its a landslide.

We are the only messengers carrying the water for the general population of busied out voters. Many are leaning on decades old stale tropes (liberals vs. conservatve values, government vs. private sector complaints.)

It was noteworthy that of the 5 candidates (Biden, tRump, RFK Jr, Jill Stein, West) - Four (4) are selling anti-government views but at an autocracy hammer to our Constitutional Republic level.

Only Biden is selling Government can and IS helping American citizens.

- It's not the damn "Do you want DMV running XXX" argument rolled out every four years. Sick of the bi-polar message of slick private, de-regulated world run by Autocrats and Oligarchs vs. Good Government (but, boring government processes) that Society must have to stop the cornering of the market on everything.

The media is thoroughly and completely complicit in electing Trump! Like it or not, the media ordinal covers and supports this seedy man. Trump never provides a void in his routine daily communication. Many of Biden’s travel appearances are seldom covered. Media finds events to cover for Trump! Trump will not be testifying at the NYC trial. However, he willingly testifies daily, coming and going from that Court House! Trump is ALWAYS covered and finds an audience of media creeps who are dying to hold on to every comment and lie!

Steve, you're scaring me to death.

I wish to God Biden had moved over for a younger candidate, but here we are.

If women who care for their bodily autonomy -- and the men who care for them -- show up to vote in droves, democracy may have a chance.

Biden would if TFG drops out. Biden is the only candidate with seasonality of Government and campaigning to block the corrupt regime. I state corrupt as this morning it was announced Barron has now joined leagues with the "family" of DJT in the gop delegates. He intends to fully corrupt anything he touches with his Faustian sycophants / family. The RNC is a wholly owned corrupt operation of DJT now.

I’m confused Steve about why you believe that people are really listening to Biden’s speeches or trump’s bullshitting. The majority of us that follow the news and the daily occurrences have already decided who we’re voting for. That slim number of ‘independents’ have also made their decisions based on what news sources they follow. That is the decision that comes before voting these days. The narrative told on right wing NOT news stations is a funhouse house mirror of bullshit crapping on their audience non-stop. If someone has already chosen that then a speech by Biden makes no difference in the calculations.

I have no idea of the ages of Steve’s subscribers, but I for one (mid 70’s female) am quite literally scared shitless. The feeling of being led to the gallows comes to mind. Where are the voices of our leaders, past & present. Why are they NOT screaming from the rooftops?!?!? I can only hope they are waiting for the “right” time, closer to the election. IMO, the sooner, the better. Start pounding in the message, Your Democracy & Freedom are on the ballot!”

Frankly, there are far more bigots (umbrella word for all racists & phobes of any kind) than we ever imagined. Trump gave them permission to come out of the shadows & from under their rocks. Living in the South, I suspect everyone, unless I know for certain they are really Democrats. That goes for squishy independents as well.

Yes, I know it well as I live in South Carolina and am surrounded by the Cultists. They were formally moderate Republicans, a lot from the Northeast. I remember well my Rebublican neighbor from NJ say in 2015, “who would vote for that guy?” He did, twice!!!! I know he doesn’t own a gun, but I wonder how far the Cult will go, if Biden wins.

“During my career, I have advised presidents, vice presidents, speakers of the House and various parliaments, opposition leaders, prime ministers, quarterbacks, movie stars, CEOs, media moguls and others to remember that there are no bad questions, only bad answers in an interview.”

Steve, excellent points and advice. I was taught there are no stupid answers to a questions; just stupid people answering questions! And I think my point has been proven time and time again, especially by the republiCons.

“I’m going to show you a terrible answer from President Biden during his interview last night with CNN heavy hitter Erin Burnett.”—Steve Schmidt

Excellent point. Biden argued that because the markets are doing well, so is the economy. Agreed, the markets are a lagging indicator to begin with; not a leading indicator. And the average American isn’t invested in the markets, except in 401k’s and IRA’s. They live paycheck to paycheck and believe Biden is out of touch with reality.

Additionally, most people feel inflation even though it’s slowed to approximately 3.4%. The real issue is during the supply chain issues, inflation increased almost 20%. After the supply chain issues were resolved, inflation slowed, but pricing did not come down.

Most of the inflation we’re experiencing today is price gouging due to industry monopolies, where four to five companies control more than 80% of their respective industries, higher interest rates, and tariffs.

I won’t bother commenting on Trump’s possible VP picks. All you need to know about any one of them is they had to relieve themselves of any original thoughts in their brains, just to be considered. And frankly, most of them were brain dead to begin with, which speaks volumes as to their qualifications….:)

All excellent points, Robert. While Biden's mention of the markets as economic indicators are under-representative of the greater economy, the markets were TFG's almost sole indicator touted when he was in office of the "health" of the economy at that time. At least Biden has a solid record of policy-based economic programs focused on some of the problems experienced by so many Americans, especially those in rural areas. Rural Americans, while constituting currently a solid base for R's in general and TFG in particular, have had their serious problems ignored by both TFG and the rest of their R representatives. What exactly did TFG and "unified Republican government" do in their 2 years of full control (2017-2019) to address rural problems (health care deserts, closed rural hospitals, rural economic disintegration, meth and opioid addiction, rising deaths of despair, dropping life expectancies, and the highest infant mortality statistics in the country)? Not a damn thing substantively. (Indeed, the comparison of Obama's and Biden's accomplishments during their first few years in office to TFG's so-called "wins" really shows the glaring disparity.) Instead, the R's have paid their rural supporters the "wages of whiteness" to make them feel good even as they shriveled and died of neglect - and it appears to be working still as they remain "engaged and enraged" and call for vengeance upon people and groups who have absolutely nothing to do with their problems and challenges. See White Rural Rage, Dying of Whiteness, et al. The projection and deflection are working as they intend, absolving themselves in the minds of those who most need help of any responsibility for having ignored them for decades. If rural Americans do not snap out of it (the agency remains theirs even though they have been manipulated to date by experts, political and religious), their only victory will be the "improved" view of the world they get by climbing to the top of the rubble that is left when their "saviors" are finished "saving" them. The billionaires cannot believe their luck.

I gotta push back a bit- I think you are underestimating the rage of women right now. Democrats have been over performing in specials, abortion is on the ballot in many states and the interview Trump gave to time was horrendous.

Not to mention the RNC is broke as fuck.

I have a lot more optimism about this.

Additionally, Donald Trump is not winning new voters. If anything, they are leaving him or dying. While they will probably not vote for Biden, A lost vote for Trump is a good thing. Gen Z, while protesting Israel/Gaza, will not vote for Trump. The rage women have right now of their loss of human rights is real and it is powerful. 6 months from now, millions of women and their supporters will go to the polls to punish republicans. And will continue to do so until they back down.

THAT is what we need to be talking about. I saw a rather interesting and credible metric that if only white males voted, Trump would win. And not just win — it would be an Electoral College landslide.

Which tells me that the female vote will have to bail out the country. It should be remembered that it was the black female vote in Alabama that prevented a credibly accused child predator from becoming a US Senator.

And single white men are the lowest turnout. Plus there are more women than men. College educated women are most likely to vote democratic.

I caution the overload, 24/7 as another reminder of your cigar statement.

Everyday there are 20 emails asking: Do I agree this, will I support that, and in the end a request for money.

I and many Americans ARE working and don't have time, nor money to answer every "push poll" type question. I am skeptical about polling as the MAGA seem to relish in push polling that grabs at those knowing there pushing an agenda and not asking a real poll question.

- The recall election, Delta County, Michigan, (3 recalled RW incumbents with voting at ~73% each to be recalled) this past Tuesday shows the continuing real dissatisfaction with gop politics.

Many are screaming about: Roe vs. Wade to be heard; Screaming about the consequences of another TFG administration and end of electoral democracy; the economy is red hot with low employment and higher wages, but too cool to matter to those still digging out.

Many may like the economy but Hate "I'm from the Government and here to help" as the answer. The reason the gop economy resonates is not because of its failures, but because it sticks with Gov't and Private sector fighting of which is best. Reagan damaged ECON 101 with VooDoo economics and Laffer Curve, trickle down in the private sector. The masses don't get this.

To wit, the economy is such a good thing of buyer-seller that low employment, higher wages is causing inflation. The conundrum of economics. Steve Ratner espoused the same with the charts today. But,... because the private sector faithless claims and de-regulated, superhot "feels" marketing resonates vs. actually being red-hot without hyperinflation - 95% voters don't understand. The higher prices are the visceral impacting points the gop love to gnaw on. finding the right supply-demand balance is in-process.

The messaging efforts have to find a way to satisfy the long grievances of haves/have-nots AND the pent up disbelief that Government actually works in partnership with the private sector and the private sector has NEVER fixed the roads, NEVER fixed the water - lead pipes, etc. It is not in the private sector interest without government contracts via taxpayer dollars. How else do they get paid?

LOTS to DO, LOTS NOT to Do. Wisconsin yesterday was a sharp arrow in the message quiver about the failed FOXCON CON. More please.

Interesting and thought provoking article today. A lot can be done in a school year yet I am reminded of the lost year of education during COVID. Even when produced with a platform (online) it was systemically attacked by chaos agents.

This 2024 democratic campaign platform needs all the support…ALL THE SUPPORT and technological assistance to reach every American everywhere. The first attack should be 1) if you are age eligible only are you registered to vote? That responsibility should be on the student/the voter to determine. 2) you are to show up and vote when your country calls you too.

The rest is lessons of what’s in store if you do not do step 1 and step 2.

Don’t lose sight of this last year of liberty in America.

Every time we see Biden, he looks and acts older. Unfortunately, for many people this will be a compelling disincentive. I'm terrified about November. If he loses, he joins RGB in allowing his ego and feelings of invincibility to change the course of history. And of course, all of the great things he has done will be buried under all of the political upheaval and craziness that will be unleashed. Ugh.

Last week I drove through Ohio and on I-71 just south of Columbus, I saw a 1000 acre Intel chip factory that is under construction. I felt a small bit of pride that this manufacturing facility is being built in America. It will bring a huge number of good to jobs to this red state. This could have been initiated by Donald Trump and the Republicans, but they were more interested in giving tax cuts to the already obscenely wealthy. Everywhere I look I can see infrastructure and renewable energy projects, small and large happening and I will be extemely saddened to see these investments in America come to a halt because we decided to put a grifter and his minions into office.

I can hardly believe that polls are showing that most Americans want Trump back in office. I've heard mixed opinions about the state of the presidential campaign, but there are two people whose opinion I really trust to discuss the state of politics in America and Steve Schmidt is one of them and the other person is saying the same thing as Steve.
