"You can bend but never break me, 'Cause it only serves to make me -More determined to achieve my final goal -And I come back even stronger, Not a novice any longer -'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul" I AM WOMAN. VOTE BLUE! ! Thank you for sharing this Marlene:)
As a woman who recently turned 75 I to can remember the burn your bra (if you even wore one) the protesting the only can get birth control if you say you are engaged ( guess they thought you had to have a ring to have sex. Dah!) the women of today have no idea how it was, though with the over turn of Roe a lot are waking up. What I don’t understand is people do not seem to realize is the economy will go up and down always has always will. But once you start to loose democracy especially with this court you are not going to get it back .
Thank you for sharing that amazing video Steve. We are strong, and we are invincible. We are also empathetic and very smart. It seems we are very threatening to the white men in power that are deciding what a woman’s rights and role is in society. All I can say to them is look out, your attempts at control have unleashed our immense power.💪
Thanks so much for sharing, Steve and thank you The Warning members for your comments. My 21 year old niece, Violet, made her singing debut with our band on this one. She had never heard the original before. I spent my young adulthood with the knowledge that I could plan a family when it was right for me. That freedom is in doubt for her & for all women of reproductive age.
Tiktok recently took down a video of Politics Girl for linking abortion rights with the economy. There is nothing that violates the TOS in her video, just statements of fact.
We hoped reinvigorating this rock anthem would remind everyone that women’s rights are on the ballot. Vote vote vote! 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! Your timing for I AM WOMAN is impeccable. Beautifully done video and music. Power and freedom to Violet and all women around the globe! Keep singing out.
Abortion rights are economics. The only ones who will not admit it are the Republicans who... well, I don't think they listen to women properly. TikTok is Chinese. No human rights there. Women? First they had to submit to a Quota. One child. Now they say women should have more children given their decrease in population. Another Quota. Women? I dare not say what they see in us. Scary indeed. Thank you for this beautiful trip to the past and the outstanding music of a time that secured hope for a generation. For women and the men who love them.
Six years ago Americans elected a president who treated women worse than the Iranians, handled COVID worse than China, worshipped Vladimir Putin and envied Kim Jong-un. Look at where we ended up. Look at the state of our freedom teetering closer to the abyss. We can still hold power in our hands if we vote the last of his co-conspirators out of office. Can we?
This is the best way to start my day. Sharing far and wide. Thanks to Marlene and all involved, it is a wonderful version and video. And thanks, Steve, for posting it to share.
I can’t believe that I cried listening to this video! Part of it was nostalgia—I am 70 and can remember well the Helen Reddy version. But mostly it was hope—“I am strong, I can do anything, I am woman!” Thank you Steve for reminding us all.
I made the mistake once to underestimate a woman and got my bell rung and my ears are still ringing today. Stay strong ladies and unite. There are more of your gender than mine so stay strong and raise your collective voice for freedom. Nobody is going to give to you. You have to fight for it with the same enthusiasm it took to get voting rights and birth control. You have my vote now go out and get all your sisters to vote blue.
Thank you so much for this. I'm old enough to remember the first, original rendition. I knew in my bones then that we have a long way to go but today as a mother and grandmother to women that insist that we will get there! I attended the Woman's March 2017 in Wash. DC. and this song brings tears every time...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsx46r0SDes We need these songs to explain, to move us, to move the men in our lives, to move the world.
Fran, thank you for posting this powerful video of the Women's March in D.C. I marched with women in Montana. I have never felt more united for a cause and a solidarity with all women. I watched the video a couple of times and it did bring tears, memories of how millions of women came together to be seen and heard. We need to do that again -RISE UP in blockbuster numbers to reclaim our rights, protest, VOTE, and to keep going on our path to claim our RIGHTS to full equality, not backwards! You said it perfectly, "We need these songs to explain, to move us, to move the men in our lives, to move the world." Yes we do. Let's keep sharing these songs and videos and call out to women around the globe to RISE UP! Thank you!
Seems we’ve come full circle since Helen Reddy sang those lyrics and the stakes are now just as high.
Imagine if there was a Supreme Court ruling that outlawed vasectomies, American men would collectively summon every cc of testosterone to obliterate such an assault on personal Liberty. Take your judicial paws off my junk, or I’ll remove your paws from your arms. Of this, I am certain.
It’s not 1970. So the question is, Is there enough American estrogen to repeat that influence of half century ago? Are there enough women who are awake?

Fantastic rendition of a 70's anthem
Yes, thank you indeed Marlene! "We'll take those old records off the shelf"
As a woman of a certain mature age, one of your best posts EVER
I see why you liked it, it reminded me of all of the reasons that I have loved women.❤️👏🏻🙏😎

Thank You! Just voted YES on Michigan's Proposal 3 guaranteeing Women's Reproductive Rights! I felt Invincible!!
Wonderful, Powerful, We can RISE UP! Thank you:)

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But you have promises to keep,
And miles to go before you sleep,
And miles to go before you sleep.
Stunning post. Thank you. Yes, miles to go before we sleep. We will bend but never break!
Be Well Be Blue
Beautiful rendition and great video! Much needed to be heard again in these perilous times for women. Thank you for sharing!
I sent this video clip to all my various women groups! 🌊🌊🌊
YAY! Way to go! Women unite!
We've done it before, we can do it again, we can bend but never break.
As a woman of a certain age, i appreciate this post- we are women hear us roar
