Without exception, every accusation the members of the American Taliban hurl at "the libs" (Groomers! Perverts! Pedos! Frauds! Fascists! Traitors!) is nothing more than a projection of their own depravity and moral bankruptcy.

P.S. Steve, thank you for the Hitchens quotation. His brilliant mind and razor-sharp writing are sorely missed.

Steve Schmidt packs a one-two punch: he is the best writer-orator on the entire American political scene!

I think we learned during the former President 45's tenure how projection works. As I recall whatever outrage he was accusing the Dems of doing, he was actually actively engaged in that activity or had already done it. This Schlapp character is no doubt a follower of this pattern.

I am tired of voters, some of whom are educated and successful professionals, who continue to vote for these people, with the justification that they like the policies, but not the character. In other words, give me a tax break and do whatever you like...

Steve Schmidt’s analysis is good, his opinion is spot on. The MAGA cult is as described: in Denial, guilty of being what they criticize, deep down.

I have read your 3 previous articles regarding Matt and his fascist idolatry. I also believe their is always a root cause to their Self-loathing and hard line rhetoric. If and when he is shown to be even more loathsome than his present character, I will not be surprised. Please keep reporting on these misfits so when they finally fall the world may rejoice in knowing they are safer than the day before.

What is wrong with that party and it’s people??????

The ACU/ Meadows neglect to note that the it was a conservative (not left wing) member of Herschel Walker’s campaign that levied accusations against Schlapp.

Thank you for continuing to expose these charlatans. Hitchens was correct about these folks always yelling God’s name in vain while the rules don’t apply to them. I always thought Schlapp was a nasty piece of work and not to be trusted and here we are.

I have always disliked Matt Schlapp when I’ve seen him interviewed on MSNBC - I thought him to be slimy and insincere and now I have the pleasure of seeing my sense of him confirmed. He’s a traitor = and I like the connection with his own self-loathing.

Scum buckets, the lot of them. I miss Chris Hitchens.

Poor Matt - all the places he wants to live in are run by guys he loves who would love to pin a pink triangle on his well-tailored suit and put him on a one-way train to their version of Auschwitz.

It's well known among hotel staff what when a right wing "christian" organization holds a meeting at the facility, the porn channels get a real workout - in five minute bursts. (no wonder their wives all look unsatisfied)

I as always am writing in thanks to you, Mr. Schmidt. The importance of what you’ve outlined so eloquently, about ‘ole Schlapp- races to the top of what has to be seen as the reality of a group of folks, who doggedly downtrodden anybody they can to claw themselves to the imaginary top of the imaginary moral superiority they have so whole heartedly made up. All this to attempt to exercise the Tyranny they are so want to spread.

Deep breath, it is a lot. Here’s another example of a public proclamation of support by fellow inductees attempting to ignore this as a blatant corrupt action which notches away at their all too feeble, malicious stance discounting a group of human beings they don’t care to include- in anything. Except the next step in that imaginary superiority ladder.

You have called out ‘ole Schlapp far before this exposure- in ways that in the end make it easy to grasp what could have happened, and then of course- did. Thank God we have your focus, wit and gift of sharing.

You have such a clear vision of how the American dream has been distorted andmaimed by the right wing of politicians now owned by MAGA mega corporations and the Christian nationalist maniacs. Hate can never be disguised as love. We are in the fight of our lives.

A disgusting event. We can all agree with the meaning of the word Love. Not so with the word Hate. Love is constant, its meaning understood through the ages. I used the word Lover today with the meaning that is rooted in humanistic vision, with a meaning that has been used, like Lovers, in the writings of spiritual men and women. The above you relate is a story of Hate. I know what it means here. Maybe others should describe it on their own, because it is not what I want in the halls of power that are influencing and will influence politicians. Disgusting they are, Schlapp and his wife. Too many powerful couples are influencing politics and justice in the most debased of manners. That people who come from a strong spiritual background see THEM with hope and, instead, people who speak and act from a place of victimhood, those who know in the flesh what it means to be the target of violence, those who need not be diplomats nor public servants nor highly visible personalities to be considered as acceptable voices when attacked violently, are dismissed and much more. The man who was fondled sexually by Schlapp's unwanted hands and fingers, turning his work trips with Schlapp unbearable, must be heard, because his story was diminished precisely by the ones who had the power to redress the wrongs and give him the justice expected. No, he was twice the victim, rendered this time officially and sealed.
