There are 244 days until the election.
Does anyone want to guess what day Nikki Haley will collect her chips and cash in?
She will endorse Donald Trump. She will campaign for Donald Trump. She will smear President Biden.
The idea that because Nikki Haley opposed Trump in the primaries she is against him is refuted by eight long years of collaboration in a sad saga in which Haley has thrived in the cast.
It remains astonishing that so few people who cover Trump after all of this time still don’t get him. He isn’t angry at Nikki Haley. He loves her toughness and defiance. He loves that she is the runner-up who crushed the undercard, and he doesn’t care about anything else other than the ultimate end of the transaction. She is like a latter day Virgil Sollozzo, who stayed within the lines and heeded the godfather’s warnings.
Soon Nikki Haley can stand on a stage with Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. There she can endorse the man who degraded the service of her husband, standing next to the men who did the same after he disrespected their fathers and wives.
The media coverage around Nikki Haley is appalling. “Trump bad, so Haley good” isn’t just a sickly concoction of nonsense. It is utterly delusional about the culture of American fascism, particularly where it docks with the defeated conservative remnants in a coalition designed to take power.
Nikki Haley will submit to Trump like she has before. The past is prelude for the next Haley act, which will be as a willing princess in the Mar-a-Lago court.
What she did over these last months wasn’t noble. It was self-serving and the proof of that will be her looming endorsement.
Getting out of the race is the prelude to the only true capitulation that matters. Just like last time, when she does it, it will be disgraceful. Please let’s just stop pretending it is surprising.
Maybe there is something in the water in South Carolina. When it comes to absolute hollowness and emptiness it is tough to imagine a more brilliant trio: Nikki Haley, Lindsey Graham, Tim Scott.
Wow. Just wow.
For your reading/viewing pleasure, I’m sharing my past essays and video commentaries about Haley:
Haley has always been a transparent, transactional politician playing the field. Her designs on occupying the WH remain, only the timeline has changed. But Graham and Scott? It’s one thing to “get in line” it’s quite another to be a bootlicker to a coward and a criminal, especially after they’ve gone on record, video record (Jan7) to say the opposite. Like Vichy France, it’s not the actions of the people that will be written about, but the craven, servile and cowardly political class whom will be remembered for generations.
They don’t call SC, AL, LA, TX and the other hypocritical southern states the Confederacy of Dunces for nothing.
Graham, Scott, and the rest of the clueless members of the South Carolina delegation are the epitome of Reek from Game of Thrones.
Soon Haley will do what all good puppy dogs do; fall in line, and eventually get kicked to the curb like most rabid strays.
Stick a fork in Nikki, she’s more than done!…:)
