Each time I saw a great video of Steve Schmidt, I thought that was the best we got out of him. But he continues to rise to the occasion and here he is again giving an amazing monologue to top it all off. I temporarily forget to worry about the Ukrainians or American politics for a moment.
Hi May! I too, saw Biden's speech! This is what he needs to do, not only to educate the American people about who Trump really is; but to also prove to the press, that Biden is "old" in number only. He still is sharp, healthy, and knows what he is talking about, in all areas of government-he has the experience America needs at this time. We need to remember that he still struggles with stuttering when he speaks; stuttering can't be 100% cured. I noticed that Trump is teasing Biden about his stuttering. I swear, Trump is pure evil!
I do wish, however that Biden would entwine his accomplishments these past years as POTUS in his speeches. He could easily compare his accomplishments with what Trump did or didn't do during his time as POTUS! By doing that he just might get the attention of the young voters, and the black and brown voters.
I'll email his campaign team, and suggest that idea.
The American People did prevail in November, 2020. The voice of the American People was heard loud and clear: Donald Trump became TFG.
The American media needs eyeballs and clicks for their advertisers, and since that day in November they reported every screed from TFG in horrifying detail. I’m not trying to mitigate the worst act that a US citizen committed against our nation, but I firmly believe that if the media hadn’t broadcast his every repulsive utterance maybe he would not have had the large following and just maybe January 6 might have been less violent.
Or maybe I’m just an old lady who is just so exhausted hearing about TFG over and over that I want to make up my own reality. Mygod I wish he’d disappear.
Dianne, I totally agree with you! I'm an old lady who is also sick of Trump and the MAGA's! However, that is just what they want-for us all to tune them out, not really listen to what they are saying! When citizens do that, they can creep in and take over. Seems like they are creeping closer than I want them to be!
I don't listen to FOXTV, or Bannon, or other extreme right medias; however, they too are beating the drums loud and constantly! We don't see Biden, Schumer, or other Democrats constantly telling their stories on MSNBC or other medias. Democrats are terrible messengers! That is why I thank God for Steve's "The Warning", and The Lincoln Project for doing the job that the Democrats should be doing!
"The Warning" and The Lincoln Project, are ways for Democratic citizens to voice how we feel!
“Schicksaltag” indeed! I have copied this word and Steve's contextual comment defining it to my calendar, to be repeated EVERY YEAR, lest we forget what's at stake EVERY DAY with the rise of fascism, christian nationalism and neo-nazism in our country. I am an early baby boomer. I recall as a boy sneaking a look at the horrifying pictures in "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich." I would never have believed in 1000 years we would hear these dark, angry, ignorant voices again.
It keeps coming back to Orwell. Black is white, up is down, lies are truth. What people are truly guilty of becomes an indictment in their mouths hurled against their accusers. Not even Orwell thought of that one. So Trump is a protector of Democracy and the Democrats are the wealthy class that eschews regulation and taxes and voting rights. No wonder, people saddled with middling intelligence and myriad distractions are confused and too many of them putty in the hands of the manipulators who find success in the absence of shame. Nor is the law the law anymore. The 3rd section of the 14th amendment, based originally on real fears, is not necessarily law but rather politics. Huh? How can the president be the only one immune from this rule when it is the president who is most likely to break it? How can he be immune period? Is it yes or no question or a list of crimes from which he is immune and list for which he can be tried? Otherwise murder is OK if you accept the stupid immune argument. A child could throw that in the garbage in two minutes. So why do we need a string of courts to handle these dumb premises? Why don't we just laugh in his face and say, "Are you kidding? We saw and heard him devise his insurrection with more care and attention to detail than a Wedding Planner, both on television and on Twitter, chapter and verse, yet the courts are being asked whether he did what WE ALL KNOW HE DID, including them, and all these questions, spelled D*E*L*A*Y are in case he can get elected and make them all moot. All his lawyers and he have to do is throw one after another absurd notion/motion at the wall to see who they can get to throw water on the obvious. All this leading to whether the Supremes have the ah, sorry ladies, balls to follow what their originalist guidance tells them is so crystal clear that even then they cannot be seen to be endorsing it. Orwell would be amused at where his creative vision has led. He is being constantly topped by a bevy of lawyers floating away on their millions in fees to a never never land of nonsense that has the country tied up like the worst experience Houdini ever had. How to get out of it is the question and what mess will remain behind? W did more damage than Trump, in case you're thinking Republicans aren't so bad, but Trump is just warming up and the country and its judges seem prepared to bend over backwards so far as to give him every opportunity to run them over right into the ground and take charge. I have a suggestion. SMARTEN UP!
OMG! Joy Reid, MSNBC, has a Breaking News headline, “House Republicans complain they have nothing to run on because they’ve accomplished nothing.” Well, break out the crying towels. First, they have no idea what they want to accomplish if its name doesn’t start with Hunter Biden. Or even Joe, whom they will be impeaching, as soon as they can devine a charge. Second they spent so much time sorting through unworthies to come up with a speaker that they ended up with an overwrought Christian who thought humans kept dinosaurs as pets just a few millenia ago. And there are about 6 or 7 Republicans that hate their own party enough to be ready to jettison the whole thing at the drop of a hat. Of course an average IQ of 67 will tend to choke off progress, even the evil kind. So they have successfully worked their advantage down to about one vote and are likely dead in the water anyway so not having anything to take to voters other than their blind devotion to Trump, the great criminal mind, that they may as well go back to their jobs in the circus. Maybe a Lion will eat them. Please!
Desperate times require desperate measures..These measures have yet to be deployed..A fish rots from the head, cut off the head, the body withers and dies..
That captains of industry continue to support Tr*mp and his elected supporters, continue to advertise on (support) seditious “news” organizations or promote shallow false equivalencies, continue to elevate market returns over patriotism, speaks volumes about the fragility of our democracy. To borrow from Vince Lombardi, money isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.
Every time I think of the Jan 6th insurrection, I can’t help but be disappointed in AG Merrick Garland regarding how long it took him to appoint a special counsel to investigate this crime. And, thank goodness for the House Jan 6th Committee! If they hadn’t conducted the thorough investigation that they did, I’m not convinced Garland would have ever done anything about pursuing an investigation into the Jan 6th insurrection. The Jan 6th Committee, in my opinion, shamed Garland into finally appointing Jack Smith. If Garland had acted back in 2022 as soon as the Committee made its final report, perhaps we wouldn’t be bumping into the presidential election cycle as we are today. Merrick Garland’s procrastination, I believe, showed a huge lapse in judgement and a leadership deficit. What makes one a good judge doesn’t necessarily mean that a judge ‘s particular skill set transfers well to being a law enforcement official. We should’ve taken a page out of Brazil’s playbook. When Bolsinaro staged his post election law coup attempt, it was stopped right away and the insurrectionists arrested. No delays. Why didn’t we do that shortly after Jan 6th? Merrick Garland should, imo, answer that question. Brazil had lost their democracy once before in a coup and it took years for them to regain it. They remembered that and acted quickly on Bolsinaro’s coup attempt. Finally, what about Congressional participants in this coup like Congressman Scott Perry (R-RA) or Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI)? There are several other members of Congress that were clear participants who were up to their eyeballs in the planning of the false elector scheme that is part of the Jan 6th insurrection? Should Merrick Garland be giving these guys a “pass”? Justice delayed is justice denied.
If Mitch McConnell did his job, instead of being a chicken s**t, and passing the buck, Trump would have been convicted! We wouldn't be in this F**king mess! I am so disgusted with the spineless people in congress! And look at DeSantis and Nikki Haley, running against Trump! They can't even say the man's name! Who would vote for cowards like them?
I admire the courage of Liz Chaney, Adam Kinzinger, and Heather Hutchinson! They risked their position in congress for the sake of our country's democracy! They are the true heroes!
We really need to mean the words, "God bless America" , when we say those words!
And no one in congress who voted not to certify, knowing full well that it was all a lie, have not been convicted and are still there..whats up with that?
Want to see a great article? And this one is in the Washington Examiner, a conservative news outlet. How succinct can the choice get? Would that the more "unbiased" outlets do as well.
Hey, Frank. During those incidents you cited, we're the "protesrers" acting on a call from the president of the U.S., and did said president do nothing to discourage them from trying to injure or kill members of congress and hang the VP?
Steve, haven't read this yet because I'm dining, but I have been thinking lately that he WILL NOT win. Looking forward to your sage reasoning and still perplexed by MSM who seem not to realize they will be the first to go.
Jan-6 was just a protest with a minority of troublemakers. If Trump had won and the protest was by upset Democrats and leftists, it would be hailed by the elite political chattering class as their First Amendment right.
First mistake Frank, is believing democrats would ever storm the Capitol. So stop with the bothsidesism. It would have happened in 2016, if at all.
And according to you, all the “non-peaceful” protesters were all FBI, ANTIFA and BLM activists, so does this mean you finally admit that it was actually the MAGA mob that stormed the Capitol?
"If Trump had won"-so Frank is admitting that trump lost?! Robert-do you know if that is consistent with his past posts? I mean if he admits that, that's something, no?
Right. Democrats would never occupy a capitol for a protest.
“Thousands of protesters rushed to the … Capitol Wednesday night, forcing their way through doors, crawling through windows and jamming corridors.” That is how one newspaper described the storming of the Capitol — not the one in Washington last week, but the state Capitol in Madison, Wis., a decade ago."
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) praised the occupiers for an “impressive show of democracy in action” and tweeted as they assaulted the Capitol that she continued “to stand in solidarity” with the union activists. In other words, Democrats were for occupying capitols before they were against it."
"On March 1, 1971, Weather Underground members planted a bomb in a men's restroom one floor below the chamber of the U.S. Senate. They used a stopwatch connected to a fuse to control the time of the explosion and issued a warning by telephone half an hour before the bomb detonated. The blast devastated the bathroom, smashing the plumbing fixtures. The doors to the Senate barbershop were torn off their hinges and crashed through a window ending up in a courtyard. Lighting fixtures, plaster and tile were damaged in the corridor. A stained glass window in the Senate dining room was badly damaged.
The group issued a statement saying they had attacked "the very seat of U.S. white arrogance" to protest against the invasion of Laos that had begun on February 8, hoping to "freak out the warmongers". No one was ever arrested or convicted for this bombing."
"The May 19th Communist Organization was a women-led successor to the Weather Underground.[35] Active from 1978 to 1985, the group engaged in domestic terrorism. The group also incorporated members of the Black Liberation Army. The organization carried out two prison escapes, several armed robberies, the killing of three armored car guards, and at least seven bombings. On November 6, 1983, two members of the group assembled a bomb in a restroom at the Capitol that failed to go off. The following day, they returned and assembled a second bomb, which detonated, causing extensive damage but no casualties. "
"Beginning a week after the September 11 attacks, letters containing poisonous anthrax spores were mailed, initially to five media organizations. The attacks were first detected at the headquarters of American Media in Boca Raton, Florida which at that time owned the National Enquirer, a supermarket tabloid. A letter was also addressed to the offices of Tom Brokaw, an anchor at NBC News in New York, and also to ABC News, CBS News and the New York Post. The anthrax in the first round of letters was relatively crude, described as brown and grainy. Weeks later, letters containing a much finer and more dangerous anthrax formulation were mailed to Senator Tom Daschle, then the Senate Majority Leader, and Senator Patrick Leahy. As these envelopes passed through the postal system, anthrax particles were spread widely in many locations, and other pieces of mail were contaminated. The worst contamination at the Capitol was in the Hart Senate Office Building. In all, five people died, and 22 people became infected with variations of anthrax disease."
And then we have the protesting Democrats harassing and threatening SCOTUS justices. Talk about an INSERRECTION and threat to democracy!
This is your problem Frank, you conflate everything. When a few weather underground people bombed Congress, you say they are democrats; they weren’t. They were part of a domestic terrorist group and certainly didn’t have any members of Congress and in the Whitehouse helping them to coordinate the attack.
And what does the anthrax scare have to do with democrats? They were targeted. Again, conflating nonsensical terror events and blaming them on democrats?
By your logic, I should blame republicans for Timmothy McVeigh bombing the Oklahoma City Federal Building. He was right-wing militia and republican; so was his militia.
And quite frankly, white nationalist domestic terror attacks account for 60% of all terror attacks in this country (According to the FBI). So if you want to have this debate, bring it on, instead of misinterpreting history from the 1960’s.
News flash Frank: It’s the 21st century! Seriously dude, you need a Prozac the size of a watermelon!
Oh come on now. Try to access some self-reflective honesty here.
"In 1995, Bill Clinton famously used Timothy McVeigh’s bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City to tar Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh and turn the public against small-government Republicans. The 2011 shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords led to an onslaught of Republican-blaming"
Leftist protestors often head into terrorism territory. The entire 18 months of BLM and Antifa riots were domestic terrorism. But you support that... probably as you support Palestinian terrorism. Because your politics are righteous. And so you scramble typing word salads to try and defend what is indefensible and denigrate what is just normal God-given human rights as protected by our constitution.
I live in liberal land and debate your species on a regular basis and thus have a self-awarded PHD thesis that explained liberalism as a mental/emotional disfunction as practiced today. Unlike you, my faith in God and my family and my job is supremely more important than are any political orientation. I am politically agnostic. Not fealty to any cult political party as part of my need to be seen as virtuous like all my liberal friends. I only seek the facts and make judgements based on rational and logical comparison of situations. The Democrats are lying hypocrites these days. There really isn't anything moral or virtuous about that once great party of the American working class. It is a party of the raging, upset, life-meaning-starved upper class... that believe they are THE ELECT... and thus any means to an end is good. That was the same view Hitler and Mao had.
Oh come on now indeed. You generalize without any evidence that leftist protestors often head into terrorist territory. And you even accuse Robert Jaffee of probably supporting Palestinian terrorism, and further insult him.
You also say you have a self-awarded PHD thesis --- what in the world is that? How does that make you an expert on anything??
Unfortunately, those who have no rational, evidence-based arguments very often stoop to ad hominem, personal insults and attacks on those they disagree with. And that is what you seem to be doing now.
So why not instead address the major problem and danger of our times, which is the anti-democratic, racist, misogynistic and vengeful Donald Trump, as demonstrated by his insidious attempted insurrection of January 6, 2021 ? --- which is as Steve says, “America’s most tragic day”. And which was and is still celebrated by so many Americans, who unthinkingly support Trump no matter what..
And why not instead do everything possible to preserve the rule of law and American democracy by striving to prevent Trump’s re-election in 2024?
And despite Steve’s attempt to reassure us that Trump will be defeated in 2024, I am not at all convinced.
I think it is more essential than ever now for all of us to work together to defeat this would-be tyrant and dictator.
So instead of insulting those you disagree with, I urge you please to join our great endeavour to stop what would be the American and world-wide disaster of Trump’s reelection as President.
Get off your high horse. Your post here is personally insulting. What is wrong with you people that you are so blind to you blatant hypocrisy? God, if you really knew what 70% of the country and world thinks about you with you ideological cult luxury beliefs, you should be embarrassed.
Trump is living rent free in your heads and making ya'll blabbering idiots with cult-honed rhetorical sills.
I start the conversation on the topic and immediately you high and mighties go personal. Robert did post some interesting comments, but too much left ideological talking points to be useful.
Jan-6 was not an insurrection. Look up the Webster meaning of the word. Russiagate was the most disgusting abuse of government power for politics we have ever experienced, and that is the actual threat to democracy. The Covid authoritians were all Democrats. Talk about another threat to democracy.
I am not trying to change your mind, because you are cult programmed beyond any rational debate. I put it out there for the few objective readers to see.
I frequent sites outside of my normal views so I can learn. But all I am learning is stubborn refusal to accept anything outside of the left political media narrative. Might as well just watch MSNBC to "learn" something. LOL

Here is Biden giving his speech near Valley Forge live!!! He is fighting back! https://www.youtube.com/live/ictnsmrAntc?si=VDarwxiOQYZKGfXV

Thank you for sharing May ... Biden not mincing words and speaking with passion! Keep it up Joe!

LOL
Such a well thought out comment. I can see you put a lot of thought into your opinions.
