“The state of Arizona has criminally indicted Rudy Giuliani, Former White House Chief of Staff and Chair of the House Freedom Caucus Mark Meadows, Trump campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn and 15 other people for their efforts to subvert democracy and steal a presidential election.”

This is all great news, and Steve, you definitely deserve your Schadenfreude moment; however, I am still wondering why Trump is only an unindicted co-conspirator?

How is it that Trump continues to get away with murder? Giuliani, Boris and Meadows make a good start, but let’s keep our eyes on the prize.

Trump, whether the mastermind or not, set this entire debacle in motion, yet here we are. Every one will pay the price and Trump skates.

I mean seriously, can’t we at least arrest the guy for cheating at golf?….:)

I'd suggest seeing the long game. The game is 18 holes (to coin a game) not a hole-by-hole event for "individual1".

Don't worry it's only the 11th hole. And boy does the turn look much better today. Lots of action left to get to the 19th for the drinks. But, the match is accelerating: USA vs. DJT (cohorts).

I’m kind of joking. Perhaps we can get him for murdering the English language as well. Or killing satire in America…:)

These blogs don't help the English language much. :-)

Your satire is noted and I only add for an allusion to his favorite game for readers. Sorry though if your satire reply missed the mark with me firstly on my initial read. Coffee is still working its way through. ;-)

Steve, I am in Cary, North Carolina--sitting here with my first Cuppa Joe-- and smiling from ear to ear!!!

My partner and I were early joiners of "The Lincoln Project" and fought hard for Biden and Harris to turn NC Blue. (We lost that one). But on election day--11/3/2020--six of us friends were at the beach on Emerald Isle, NC--- glued to the television-- hour after hour-- watching the votes coming in--and stayed glued until November 7th--(eating and drinking entirely too much to tamp down our anxiety.) I wore my "good luck" tee shirt the entire time. It said:

BIDEN

****

HARRIS

Truth - Hope - Decency

2020

Thank you, Steve, for being such a huge part of defending America-- against those determined to kill what is best in us--Truth, Hope and Decency.

The Arizona AG has only been in office for a year, Garland almost 4 now. If Garland and other state AG’s had been as aggressive as this AG, maybe our madness would be over by now.

Enjoy your hole in one, Steve. The election insanity from the time of your tweets through January 6 should have been IMMEDIATELY and thoroughly condemned by every right thinking American, from regular people like me to every elected official in the USA, all the way from the local ones, to Congress and the Supreme Court. The “stop the steal” was always a lie from the gates of hell, and we are all paying the price. So why didn’t the Dems steal all the OTHER races for Congress and local ones? The stupidity is apparent, except to apparently millions. “There is none so blind, than he who will not see.”

It is to our country’s everlasting shame that Trump was not stopped in his tracks 4 years ago by EVERYONE. We will be paying the price for our cowardice, duplicity and dare I say, immorality, for generations. Shame on us, and especially shame on all those people who willingly participated like the ones indicted yesterday.

Was I sleeping? When did AZ turn blue and anti-trump? Oh, I guess it was when they elected a democratic governer and, evidently, enough Dems in both houses to pull off this miracle indictment. Yeah! 🤙🏾 Steve, from now on, I am going to call you “The Psychic Wizard!” Cheers to an amazing Hole-in- One!

Steve, it seems very likely to me that Boris, who has been involved in Russian contacts, that he is likely a liaison between Trump and Putin. He’s had too many ties to them since all this began with Trump and there are way too many Russian-Americans working for Trump to not be suspicious to me.

Also, Epshteyn is Trump’s Lead Counsel for the Campaign and I remember he was sitting at Trump’s defense table when Trump was arraigned on the classified documents case in Miami. Probably will have access to those documents as counsel. Oh, and Christina Bobb of classified documents fame at MAL, was named RNC’s Counsel for Election Integrity recently. The RNC: Holding pen for Trump former staff.

Way to go Steve! You were spot on, as usual.

Looking back at the NYT headlines for 10/2/2020, there's a story about the new tell-all book about Melania. According to her taped comments, she hated the "hard work" of decorating the White House for Christmas. "Who gives a fuck about Christmas?" After a trip to (give the appearance of) support to the migrant families who suffered from Trump immigration officials taking children away from their mothers, Melania wore the coat printed with "I don't really care do u?" Such a nice person.

Now Donald is whining about the low MAGA turnout at the courthouse. Maybe they are losing their enthusiasm, like Melania's for anything Donald. Trump World is circling the drain.

WHY did this AZ case take sooooo long to prosecute? Who is doing their job? Let’s start with Attorney General Garland!?!?

Expand full comment

Maybe because they thought the Feds would do it. Or because there were Republicans still there in state office who could drag it out?

Mr Schmidt, the urgency of your tweets in 2020, and their craven refusal to do the right thing, give you 1000% gloating rights.

I have to admire your bullseye accuracy, though you could not have envisioned a GOP so saturated in corruption as to whitewash the Insurrection and normalize it.

As the old song goes, "such a parcel of rogues in a nation."

AZ has to be one of the most politically schizophrenic states in the Union. From there is Barry Goldwater which marked the last time the GOP completely lost its mind but decades later came John McCain, one of the last sane Republicans. The state that sent moderate Democrat Mark Kelly to DC is also running the clinically insane Kari Lake for a Senate seat. Sinema is, well, Sinema. AZ had one of the most vigorous fraudulent stop-the-steal attempts to overturn the election, and now it has one of the most energetic prosecutions of the culprits. If nothing else living there must make for interesting reading of the morning headlines.
