40 years ago I interview Ken Kesey and he referred to a small group of "magical people" -- those who could transcend their niche and become universalists. His prime example was Willie Nelson.
Okay, first of all...It is ADORABLE that your mother is messaging YOU here!!
Secondly, that was an amazing concert! So many artists collaborating, young and old... Love the video...
Finally, I have read (here and previously on Twitter) where you call out the WHCD as being corrupt and phony. I'm curious about your criticism, because what I saw was honor for deceased journalists, recognition of reporters being detained illegally in other countries, scholarships for would-be journalists, and multiple shout outs for the 1st amendment. They spotlighted people who have integrity and longevity in journalism which reassured me and hopefully is inspiring young journalists. Everyone in the room knew Fox is faux news and calling them out to their face in front of their peers seemed the most authentic. It really appeared that they were mostly celebrating the best of journalism. Maybe I am naive...
Wish I could have been at the concert. Glad youre so happy!
But I confess I was very proud of Roy Wood, Jr last night. I disagree that the jokes weren’t funny. He made me laugh, and had one or two moments of genius. Plus his take downs of both the media and Clarence Thomas were excellent!
Willie Nelson is as original and authentic an American as there ever was and ever will be. Thanks for the great article. Willie Nelson is a national treasure!
Beautiful, beautiful. On The Road Again, life and love and music, what more can one ask for? Enjoy, dear Steve. And a happy, happy encounter with singers and musicians for a lasting memory.
Steve, I hope you're having one of the best and most unforgettable times of your life -and many more! You deserve it as much as anybody I know. Thank you for all you give. p.s. Fun to meet your 'Mom' -sweet! Life can be so good -Enjoy! Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Your joy came straight through the screen, Steve.
Please make this one free. I would love to share it.
It is, Mom 😘!
❤️😘Back at Ya!
And let’s hear it for the extraordinary abilities of so many in their eighties, nineties, and above. Don’t write them off or diminish them.
Right On!
