Musk is South African and was granted the blessings of our country when he emigrated here. He seems to have a fixation with the letter X. One of his other businesses is Space X. Speaking of which, why is the US doing business with it? My tax dollars shouldn’t be used to enrich this low life!

I agree totally.

Why is the NASA doing business with SpaceX? Maybe you should take the time to get caught up with space exploration and the fact we have been paying Putin for rocket rides to the ISS (International Space Station) since the Shuttle stopped operating over a decade ago. I guess that is a better choice than doing business with the genious that developed the first re-usable rocket. Yeah, I see where you're coming from.

I was also a huge fan of Musk’s genius. I am still his fan in term of his minimalist lifestyle and many other original thinking. But that does not justify his position on antisemitism. No need to build the world up only just to burn it down in the most vicious manner.

If he were actally supporting HAMAS financially I would feel the same. But having an opinion on the Jewish nation does not a murderer make. I am not at all well versed in why some in the world take great exception to the Jewish nation, but suffice it to say I doubt they are completely innocent. It always takes 2 to tango.

Marilyn,

So it’s okay for him to use his platform to spread antisemitism so long as he’s not financially supporting Hamas? Got it, and goodbye.

As far as I know, Space X isn't spreading antisemitism. Musk's privately owned platform, X, is more than his opinion. It is magnified by his reach to millions, and those millions then feel justified in their hate. That is, at the very least, irresponsible.

We welcome the refugees from the surrounding Arab nations near Israel and let them become citizens of the western democracies when they needed a new home. Jews after the holocaust went to their ancient homeland and fairly fought and bought their land back to creat Israel where they hope to no longer become victims of racial and national extremism again. The Palestinians feel perfectly at home in the US and Europe and are protected by law. But they continue to advocate violence and vengeance against the Israelis, and their grievance also became the basis for the reason behind 911 attack on the US and others on EU. So it is time to reevaluate the extremism against the Jews and the west. HAMAS violence on Israel is not equivalent to the violence in the West Bank. But obviously it is a huge misstep by the likes of Netanyahu. For sure it is not the time to waver and give support to the fire burning against the Jews by powerful men like Musk.

Ironic, how Musk, an “avid” defender of free speech, consistently censors free speech and is now suing Media Matters over their free speech rights.

Is it me, or is there a pattern developing between fascists like Trump and Musk, and the Christian version of Sharia Law messianic morons?

The religious wing-nuts continually hide behind the veil of free speech; their right to discriminate based on their belief system , while systematically refusing to acknowledge the LGBTQ community’s, or any other religion but their own; right’s to exist or live in peace.

All while Trump, Musk and the rest of the fascist authoritarian kleptocrats refuse to allow dissent on their platforms or used against them.

Truth matters, but what is truth? Is it perception or reality? Or worse, whatever the fascists want it to be!

As David Foster Wallace profoundly said:

“The truth will set you free. But not until its finish with you!”

Happy Sunday, all!...:)

As I have preached to my sons and even my wife...a person is defined by their actions and not their words. Words and excuses have no meaning when they are inconsistent with your actions.

In the history of mankind, more people have been killed/murdered in the name of their God than any other reason (Crusades, Inquisition, ...).

Religious superiority, like most over confidence is borne from insecurity. People overcompensate by being intolerant of others yet all religions I’m aware of preach tolerance and peace. They talk about giving aid and comfort to the stranger in our midst.

It seems ironic that those people that chant “Jews will not replace us”, want to replace Jews, Hispanics, Blacks, Muslims...with Christians.

Undereducated, ill informed, and inferiority complex make people easy targets for “ The Big Lie”... they want to believe to believe it more than to brace reality.

What kind of country will this be when you replace competence with loyalty? Who is going to pay into social security or Medicare if you deport 10 million people ( not to mention the cost to do so)? Who going to do the work?

These people who preach this purity nonsense have no idea the consequences of their actions. Destroy what they don’t understand or agree with. Give it a label you despise, rapist, communist, socialist, fascist, to justify their own prejudices.

What these people don’t get is the fact that the demagogue they support loathes them. Useful idiots...no more , no less.

I agree with your post! Well said. When I was growing up, your religion was a private matter. No one in society pressed another to convert them. No one felt threatened or maligned. If there were antisemitic feelings, a person kept it to themselves.

I believe with the onset of TV, pastors and preachers have had a field day. I watched as many openly pushed their viewers for trump in his 1st run for office. The issue of Church and State being separate is a key principle our founding fathers included in our founding documents.

TV evangelicals pressed for $$ from their viewers.

Kt all seems obvious now, but then, Freedom of Speech implied all this could be done.

Thank you. Growing up in New England left me ignorant of the plight of black people...until I read Toni Morrison.

As for anti semitism, I first realized what a monstrous issue it was when I would sneak part way down the stairs to eaves drop on the adults talking. My uncle was in WW2 and was in the liberation of Auschwitz or Dachau (I forget which). I remember as a child tears sliding down my face as he told of the horrors he saw.

I do not recommend X as a site anyone should read. It is just a different kind of porn or drug. Y'all can't seem to quit it. It's like Facebook's Zuckerberg didn't help put Trump into the Presidency and has great social skills and cares about anyone....or Tic Tok is populated by interesting thinkers not media whores. X is being helmed by a rich autistic genius. Starve the beasts. Delete the apps. Stop talking and writing about them. I remember my father's common sense statement about Yasser Arafat. Remember him? Probably not. But at one time he was above the fold and on every news magazine cover...at that time my dad said, if they want to end his terror they need to stop putting him on the cover. The future of X will look something like Q. Leave X, the advertisers leave, and X becomes a money loser and Musk gets no headlines to feed his ego. Remember Q anyone?

I want to comment on the video. I have been thinking about this for a long time, and I think, with Steve's political insights, that this may be the newsletter to ask my question. Is it possible that these people backing Project 2025 already know they are going to win the election? Is this thinking too "conspiracy-theory-like" to be plausible? I just cannot fathom why tRump's speeches would be so obviously fascist and authoritarian in a country supposedly against these ideologies unless he doesn't care what we think. I do realize that he is in the primary and playing to his base, but the real election is less than a year away, and he is going to have to face the rest of us in a national election soon. Unless he knows we will have no vote that counts. He already made one attempt to erase the will of the people, and we are witnessing this same disregard for the will of the people at state and local levels across our nation right now. Can you give any insight on this? And, lastly, if we know what is going on with Project 2025, can any real effort be made to destroy it? Are our votes our only weapons? This is the nightmare that has my nerves on edge.

IMHO Project 2025 hopes that at the very least, some of their ideas are cherry picked and implemented. They’re betting the U.S. will become more authoritarian over time and they will have a ready blueprint. As parts of their philosophy receives more publicity, it becomes normalized and less shocking. It’s crazy, but if you state you’re going to get rid of 50,000 workers of the administrative state, why would you expect those workers vote for you? If you state you’re getting rid of the FBI, why would any of them vote for you?

Parsing IBM’s statement might show a lack of gratitude but:

“IBM has zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination…”

Well, they must have had some tolerance. A lot of tolerance, in fact. This is not a new thing over there at X.

“…and we have immediately suspended all advertising on X…”

Not ended, just suspended.

“… while we investigate this entirely unacceptable situation.”

Uh, what is there to investigate? It’s like OJ’s investigation into the real murderer. After all, IBM helped the Third Reich carry out genocide by providing technology to identify Jews.

As journalist Eve Barlow said: Antisemitism is the only form of prejudice you can’t be cancelled for.

Access to information and the power over dissemination of it was the foundation of the elites up until now. But going forward the ability to filter the best facts and process the most important information will be the force that forms the most powerful class. Even the highest privileged education institutions are now under assault from the insidious and pervasive information online. To save democracy and humanity we have to power up our efforts to reign in on technology oligarchs. In this sphere it is words against words and good guys must triumph. It took all of history to put reason above all else to rule and now it is in jeopardy of being replaced by violence all over again. We must put the likes of Trump and Putin out of business once and for all. And their fan likes Musk as well.

The GOP has been working for decades to lower taxes on the elites and now they have most of it. Ashlee Vance wrote an early bio of musk. It was about 4-5 years ago. She more than issacson captures the nature of his upbringing and thinking.

After reading the book I wanted to buy shares in solar city and Tesla, both investments have since increased 10-20 fold, because her case for his genius was perfect.

However, I also recall my revulsion about his mind set, social inadequacies, racism and deviousness. So I never bought a share, never purchased a Tesla (I love my MB EQS btw).

With his latest reveal, there is nothing new to me other than the good news that he is exposed.

As far as I’m concerned he can take his roofs and cars and go to hell, BUT his grip on NASA and worldwide WI-FI is indeed dangerous!

I share your sentiments Steve, with regret. History is poised to repeat itself. As the last of the holocaust survivors die off, we can thank goodness that people like Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have “recorded” and documented the atrocities of the 20th century in productions like “Schindler’s List” and “Saving Private Ryan”. Even the various WWII museums and Holocaust Memorials that are scattered around the world won’t affect those who blindly follow the ilks of people like Musk and Trump.
