“Does Lindsey really fly around the world and get treated seriously? He’s a gadfly and an attention-starved sidekick. People know he’s an inch deep on the issues. Right?  I bet he has an untrustworthy pet like a ferret. What a goof ball. I wonder how you say goof ball in Chinese.”

I LOVE it!! Thank you!

Nicely done. Andy Rooney-like flavor on it was fun.

Funny you should mention Andy Rooney: I opened a bottle of vitamins the other day - maybe 3/4 of an inch of vitamins and LOTS of cotton and space. I thought "Andy Rooney." I teach adults. Most of them younger than 35. I realized how many references I can't use or have to explain -- like Andy Rooney. I digress as Steve did through this and it all made me smile. You too?

Well, that was an Albert Camus moment for you--thanks for putting it in writing. I loved it--especially the pilot fish. Now I know what smells so badly with that douchebag!

Thanks for the smile. It’s Friday and I’m weary after another week of tumult. Time to rest and tune out.

I always enjoy interacting with man's best friend. Dogs love unconditionally and are content with a pat on the head or a good belly rub. I could never imagine Lindsey having a dog because he is so needy himself. He would wear the dog out with his neediness. His dog, if he had one would be a frightened Chihuahua that barks incessantly then cowards, pees and shakes uncontrollably if you come too close. Yes, Lindsey would have a lapdog so nervous that it would pee each time it sat on Lindsey's lap. Maybe this is the true reason Lindsey doesn't have a dog.

Dude, airports (and transitional spaces) are the best. They allow your mind to be free.

Great read, Steve.

I greatly appreciate your mention of the movie, "Oh, God!" which is one of my all-time favorite movies. George Burns, as God, explaining the "mistakes" he made in creation - ostriches (silly looking) and avocado pits (too big) are, to me, utterly hilarious observations (because TRUE!) But the BEST exchange in the entire movie is when John Denver desperately appeals to George Burns (as God) for a miracle, and God ... declines.

"I don't do that anymore," God demurs.

"But we need help!!!!" John Denver's character pleads.

To which God responds: "That's why I gave you each other."

It has always been entirely clear to me - literally since the first time I saw the movie, before I could even vote! - that Democrats understand this simple, essential, CHRISTIAN concept FAR better than Republicans ever have. It's clear, even to this total atheist, that Dems understand the concept that the synergy of people working TOGETHER to better the whole of society is just simply a better way of doing this thing called LIFE (Whatsoever ye do to these, the least of my brethren...that ye do unto me) than the mess promoted by self-identified, so-called "Christian" Republicans - where individuals all work separately and AGAINST one another to, to grab as much "stuff" and resources as possible, to HAVE the most, and be THE winner. And in the process, leave a wide swath of destruction and chaos in their wake.

Thank you again, Steve. Great read.

A ferret? Or maybe a snake.

My dog is sitting on my arm making typing difficult. It’s going to rain today. The trees are making little green leaves. No one is bothering me. Steve is writing his thoughts. What a good day.

Also, don't forget Sammy Davis Jr in Oh God...

"Like a ferret." Classic. Trump doesn't like dogs which is telling. I'll bet when Trump was a kid, he carried a mouse or a gerbil around in his pocket like Lenny. Touching it, caressing it, making soothing sounds to it. Now he's got Lindsey in his pocket. Harlan Crow has Clarence AND Ginny Thomas in his pocket. He loves to make soothing sounds to these little creatures too, things like, "we're gonna give you a library here on this property, soon as your mother vacates it." Things that that to calm and sooth Ginny, Clarence and the Plutocracy.

Good stream of consciousness writing. Two questions what kind of dog and why Beautiful Downtown Burbank? Did not know they had their own airport

It’s a great little airport, not that many gates and really easy to get in and out of and if you are going to that side of the valley you are already there, nice. 👍😎

Thank you. When I need to head that way it’s either LAX or SAN

Steve if you’re really missing the Jersey shore head a little south. We can go to Grotto’s in Rehoboth

BUR is the complete opposite of LAX. Very user-friendly.

Loved this column.

But..............that said...............I think that you're giving Lindsey WAYYYYYY too much credit by saying that he's "an inch deep on the issues." He's so shallow, he's practically two-dimensional..................
