Does it bother you at all that Hunter can get away with shit because his daddy is the Big Man?

And don't come at me about Trump. His runts aren't any better.

Since when is America, of all places, cool with kids running roughshod cause their parents have power?

Expand full comment

What the f'k does Hunter have to do with anything?

I'm sure he was just holding that cocaine for someone else.

Stop with the Hunter made up Russia crap or close this account and go back to truth social 🤮

Use facts Phisto. Not assumptions or “alternative facts” please. Opinions based on actual facts are subjective, but opinions based on assumptions and alternative interpretations are not worth reading and discussing.

Since when was being a shit father not a problem for high office?

Or are we simping for monarchs now?

Don’t be retarded.

EDIT: I was surprised to find out the identity of the cocaine smuggler wasn't known already, and presumed it was Hunter, so my bad there for sure.

In any case, I'm not afraid of looking stupid. It's what normal people are. What still bothers me here is the regular, systematic excusal of immoral behavior that the vast majority of us couldn't get away with in the privacy of our own homes, much less the White House.

“Fixing a hole where the rain comes in”

Until the business model for “media news” requires a revamped Fairness Doctrine and licensing of outlets to provide public service “real and balanced” journalism, we are stuck with shock and awe car crashes and train wrecks for the “rubber neckers” abounding

Expand full comment

That’s exactly right Dave, maybe they will look back someday and say “why on earth were they unable to see cause and effect? Democracy was disintegrating all around them and profits were more important”. WTF

Expand full comment

Agreed. We need a revamped FCC-style (old school FCC for over-air broadcasting) set of public service requirements that must be met for any company or person or influencer broadcasting while also selling advertising and using the broadcast to make money. That’s not “free” speech, as the exchange of money for messaging makes clear.

The government spent the last 20 years securing the media, they're not gonna give it up that easily.

Better to starve the beast and support places like Substack and the proper investigative journalists within.

Cocaine in the White House. Confederate flags in the Capitol and feces on the floor of the US House and Senate. Can you tell the difference at all?

No? Neither can they:

Brilliant food for thought.

This is brilliant writing. Reduction of the absurd. Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” dancing in my head. Thank you Steve for the reminder that I’m not the only one screaming at the news.

First - the creativity of Steve’s writing style(s) impresses me every damn day. Legit.

I notice MSNBC is not on your media billboard of incompetence. That is where I usually go for tv news… also we watch PBS but they often do the “both sides” thing when there are NOT two legitimate sides. We can try to go to a lot of places for info but that GOP base is so F’d as they do not - and accordingly so is the rest of this country.

I wish there were some answers : what should we do to fix this?

We need a revolution without gun smoke and blood. Vote as if your very life depends on thwarting the MAGA extremists and their Oligarch supporters.

Because it could!

As a longtime Dem volunteer, I can tell you that in order to stop the progression of the fascistic GOP, we need more people to volunteer, and more people to vote!

Please help🙏🏻

I'm 70 years old, so I don't worry so much these days about my own life, but I do feel the need to vote as if my two grandkids lives depend on it. Because, as you say, "it could".

Expand full comment

Yes, vote as your life depended upon it. Because if you don't vote, you vote for Trump, if you vote 3rd party you vote for Trump. Tell those members of your friends and family (non-maga) to vote like their lives dependent upon it. Because it does.

Cue another Congressional investigation spearheaded by Jim Jordan in an effort to expose Biden as a drug cartel boss protected by the DOJ and FBI.

They'll ask Director Wray whether his agency is investigating The Great White House Cocaine Scandal first chance they get.

Jack Smith's drum beat is reverberating as the walls close in. Cocaine in the people's house is another shiny object.

Say there Steve, did you hear there’s an orange vending machine in Florida (a dead ringer for Frankenstein’s Monster at Madame Tussauds—must have come from Disney) that dispenses state secrets and accepts Visa, Master Card, and Saudi Charge? And oh, yeah, they found some blow in the White House: Meh, that’s so 2017.

Expand full comment

Just in case you haven't heard there was cocaine found in the White House. Lol, It has the effect of yelling shark at the beach or yelling fire at the movie theater. You are correct Steve, there is dumbing down happening at all news outlets. They are no longer in the business of news but rather in the business of sensationalism. It is gossip and tawdry bits of information that sells as news today. I guess they figure another day with a mass shooting will not sell advertising space.

Expand full comment

Thank you Steve for this critical update and review of the news.

So what is the answer may I respectfully ask?

Why is the media failing us so badly now to hold true crimes with those responsible and cover the critical news properly? They are failing us again like the Iraq war invasion.

Good comparison!

The question is - who planted the cocaine in the White House? And then leaked the plant so that it would be found and reported on by - ta da - Faux News!

...and now they are able to investigate. They can ask questions and get inside the heads of the staffers who work close to Joe. They can draw out information about unrelated things. They can look for something more substantial which with to pester us. They can direct our attention away from important things.

Expand full comment

I do agree with you. I’m also feeling like a crazy conspiracy thinker, but...with the exception of a few police, I feel like the majority of Secret Service police

should be the first group investigated followed by any House Republicans that walked that corridor.

Wow! Free verse. Stream of consciousness. Maybe stream of conscience. Another fascinating side of Steve.

There are some deeply ingrained truths here where the news is concerned and the massive effect it has on perception and belief. In a commendable and entrenched commitment to fairness, the press concerns itself with balance, same for both sides. It has been that way for years. But today the two sides are not even close to being two sides of the same thing like days of old when today one of the sides wants to blow the whole thing up. Add to that the press inclination to be more interested in fire than smoke even when the smoke is about covering something up and potentially way more dangerous. The details of the daily mass shootings are far more interesting than the cause, unless it’s you.

Add to that the development of a news machine, both print and TV that is determined to lie to build audience, to dig into frustration and discontent, regardless of the consequences and you start to recognize the corruption of a society that is still populated by more good people than bad. So there is hope but not under the label, business as usual. The good people have to rise up. Freedom can get out of hand. 100 million for an executive. Cocaine in the White House. Blood in the streets.

Expand full comment

Will the Supreme Court soon reverse our right to gather in the streets to protest? Seeing what they have done so far leads me to think, yes, that will be their next move. So let’s protest while we still can.

This was perhaps your best analysis ever. I absolutely mean it. Remember, it was (unfortunately) Bill Clinton who helped eliminate the “Fairness Doctrine” - but our “news” is literally killing America.

Gutter press to use the old term. Could have added a few more things in a similar vein such as what is DonJunior latest problems or that former Cong and J6 analyst Denver Riggleman have been hired by Hunter Biden’s lawyers to analyze the infamous laptop. Appears Riggelman’s area of expertise in message analysis is useful.

Could we be treading water waiting for info from Georgia? Or Bedminster? Or more on. J6?

A gutter press means we need to dig for the news that matters. Anyone who has had to worry with visitor or employee screening ( yes more than once) knows that people do not pay attention to what’s in a pocket, purse or backpack until they realize they’re going to be screened or bag searched. Boring, but easier to waive in from of a fact light crowd that isn’t paying attention to Ukraine or that the 2020 election lawyers are losing their right to practice

Until click-bait ends we will have fact-free gossip not real information
