The show has run its course, and all the money has been made. Now this guys comes out to tell us it was all a big fat lie. I got news for ya pal, we knew it was BS at the get go. But hey, thanks for helping to create this monster and unleashing him on the American psyche. You score no points here sir.

While I applaud the belated honesty, I wonder where he’s been over the last 10 years. Somehow, he should pay for the misery he enabled.

"I wonder where he’s been over the last 10 years." Great question.

Sadly, this TV show fooled 50 million human beings into thinking that:

1. Donald Trump is a successful, smart businessman.

2. Donald Trump cares about me.

Per Joe Conason (The Longest Con) and other sources, the 1954 Army-McCarthy red scare hearings, that were broadcast live for days on TV, were not actually about Russian spies in the military. The purpose for the hearings was for Joe McCarthy's pal and assistant Roy Cohn to punish the Army officials for mistreating his boyfriend lover. Roy's boyfriend David Schine had been drafted by the Army and was about to be sent to the front of the Korean War. Roy Cohn was incensed that his boyfriend was going to be treated like a common soldier. When Roy demanded that he be treated like a pampered child. The Press only reported on the commie red scare lies from Roy and Joe. They never reported on the homosexual relationship or Roy's demand for David's special treatment.

Fast forward to New York in the 1970s and Roy Cohn's legal representation and fraud gaming mentorship of Donald J Trump. Roy taught Donald how to scam banks and taxing authorities using lies and phony financial statements.

Fast forward to The Apprentice in 2004. Donald had just about burned up his $400 million inheritance from his daddy due to his incompetence and stupidity. The Apprentice was a scripted "reality" show designed to make NBC a lot of money. The side effect was to magnify Donald's money scam in the real world.

Fast forward to Judge Engeron's ruling on the NY business fraud case this year. This 92 page ruling (google search for it) is a short, funny, tragic read that explains everything about Trump World. Pathological lies, confidence games, scams, accounting and valuation and tax fraud. And blatant incompetence. By Donald and his family.

And now we come to the possibility that this criminal could weasel his way back into the White House. To take bribes and steal from the government and citizens. Today the Press overlooks the obvious: the Trump for President Campaign is a fraud, a money scam, a con game with no other purpose than Donald and his family and friends to grab billions. It's not about serving the American people with honorable, thoughful policies and programs. It's about money for Donnie.

The film “The Apprentice”, which does not portray the television show, but details the relationship between younger Trump and Roy Cohn is worth seeing. Trump is the apprentice, learning cutthroat, mob/like tactics to blackmail people to grant him large tax breaks in his acquisition of old hotels etc. to re-make. He is portrayed very negatively, leaving the viewer nauseated, angry and horrified that this “sociopath” once again is trying to gain ultimate power over all Americans. There were scenes that were not accurate to what we knew of the Trump/Cohn relationship, but it couldn’t come out at a better time. Details of his obsession with his hair, make-up and body ring true, as Gabe Sherman’s screenplay paints a very accurate portrayal of Trump.

Jeremy Strongs portrayal of Roy Cohn was IMHO Oscar worthy…..sadly I had the displeasure of meeting the creepy real Roy Cohn at a real estate industry function honoring my Dad back in the mid 1970’s…..so on the only thing I could ever imagine agreeing with Roger Stone on….Jeremy killed it as Roy Cohn!! 🤯

In the film, Trump re-united with a near death Cohn and throws him a birthday dinner. That event never happened. Trump is a germaphobe and deserted Cohn at the end of his life. Strong may get an Oscar nomination. He was incredible.

Well since we are talking facts: Roy Cohn lost his litigation on behalf of Fred and Donald Trump against the Federal Housing Administration for their discrimination against black prospective tenants…..in the movie they for some reason portrayed Cohn as victorious!! I must say I found that odd since those of us who were around and in the residential NYC apartments business knew that Fred excoriated his son ceaselessly for having fallen for Cohn’s very costly advice……but to be clear the movie portrays the Trumps as viewing renting to black tenants in the 1960’s and 1970’s as an existential threat to their cash flow and ultimately their long term wealth!! The Lefrak Organization owners of Lefrak City chose to settle the civil claims out of court and sign an agreement to open their apartments to black tenants…..once they did that in the Corona/Elmhurst Queens NyC housing project/development white families in what was known as “white flight”……rent rolls went down for more than a decade….the Lefrak’s wealthy as they were stopped keeping up the maintenance and it wasn’t until the mid 1980’s when we had huge inflation in the country did the rent rolls come back up and things began to turn around…..my only point…..is the Lefrak’s and other apartment house owners of large scale had to take a financial hit for almost a decade and same eventually happened to Trump org for a period of time….so yes the trumps policy was racist, but racist cause the market was really racist and that had a direct impact on those who owned the properties …..time had and has a way of healing all and in the case of the Lefrak Grandchildren they are billionaires whose wealth was built on same middle income Queens NY housing that was the foundation of Trump family wealth!

Yes. They had to pay a large sum of money when they lost. Later, Cohn strong armed tax abatements for the Commodore Hotel and Trump Tower. He was a mob lawyer with no ethics,

This interview is an interesting window into why we have such a malignant person running, once again, for the office of president, and why we have approximately half the voters in the country thinking such a cancerous person is who we want to run the show. In future years, if we survive as a democracy, we're going to have to address the limitations of free speech, just as we're going to have to address how to control AI. Each time we face this kind of fork in the road (democracy or fascism) the tools of deception will be greater. Our democracy is just a tiny blip on the course of history, let's hope it evolves into something more sure, longstanding, and better, even.

I am commenting in advance of listening to the presentation, which I will do when I have time. That said, I had to say this before I forget. "Hell yes ,I am better off financially now then I was when Trump was President." And, I believe many others are as well. Just opened my third quarter report for one of my retirement plans. I lived for years in WY (Republican land). I am retired from the State of WY - Military Department. During Trump's tenure I watched my Deferred Comp Plan stagnate. Since Biden has been in office, especially these past two years, I have seen a 25% increase. That means all WY State Retirees are doing gangbuster. I suspect the same is true for Retirees in the reddest of states throughout the country. This is easily obtained public information. Why is this not a bigger deal in all Democratic campaigns in 2024? The market has gone crazy. Butter and eggs aside, tell me again why the Trump years were golden if you were working or middle class?

They were not good years, but somehow Americans by the millions are fine with concentration camps and women who have their medical records reviewed by the government. In North Carolina, MAGA legislators here have discussed using the State Police to hunt down women seeking out of state abortions. The people are electing them, so it must be what they want.

Thanks Steve ! I don't think John Miller should balme himself.. I blame all his supporters who think that no matter what he has done it's ok..As you say we don't deserve this guy.. In 2016 I used to try and think about what my party would do if we got a candidate like him.. One thing I know about myself is that I care about all Americans and I know I would feel bad If an Obama or Clinton talked about different segments of the population in the way he does. I think about my neighbors and I try to understand how they can be so heartless .. He is such an ugly man. No I never watched the Apprentice .. I hate those shows .. Your fired hate it.

At the very time Obama as Commander and Chief of all Military Forces, directed the hit on Bin Laden on foreign soil! Anyway at the Al Smith dinner Obama says Tose famous words “Choosing whether to fire Meatloaf or Gary Bussey is the kind of thing that would keep me awake” that statement was historical with Mr. Big sitting there thinking how his father didn’t give him enough money, just one more…hundred million dollars and I would have made it bigly. Maybe sell pillows.

Trump has always been an arrogant ass with a subliminal realization of his personal failure and hence in constant pursuit of outside re-inforcement of his non-existent "greatness." Most of the influencers supporting him are cut from the same cloth. Charlie Kirk is one of the most nauseating of the lot. This is a man who believes in an omnipotent GOD and has the temerity to suggest he knows HIS infinite mind. From a recent "Charlie Kirk Show":

“Kamala Harris is wired to be repulsed by the name of God. She mocks God. Again, everything Democrats love, God hates. Let me say that again – everything that Democrats love, God hates. And if you’re a Christian that votes to the Democrat Party, you are voting for things that God hates. That’s between you and God. Think about it. If you’re voting for the Democrat Party, you’re voting for stuff that God hates. This is a different political instinct. Our reflex is pro-God, pro-worship of the divine, that there is a God that is not him.” – Charlie Kirk.

Do you suppose that that God is the one invented by the ancient Greeks? Seems odd now. God's opinions sure have changed, but the hands of approach seems more logical.

The Abrahic religions created gods in their own image and are, in fact, worshipping themselves by claiming to be their gods "special creation."

Christians are, in reality, no more monotheistic than the ancient Greeks. All one need do is consider the belief in god's mother, Mary, or the parade of devils, demons. archangels, angels, and saints they have created to realize this fact.

Steve can you please share your thoughts about what Mark Halperin is reporting out that based on early voting stats we at looking Nevada going Trump?? And that Elissa Slotkin and Bob Casey are in deep trouble?? And that my fellow Jews need only swing from 29% of them for Trump in Pa in past elections to to 40% of them -a 40,000 vote swing in PA to Trump could really mean lights out on Harris in PA?? It strikes me that Harris is like Biden by Nature a “very cautious” controlled personality type and hasn’t the tools to call out for this “F’ing ASSHOLE” he is!! Fear will Trump Joy!! Pun intended!! 🤢 its almost as if we need Kamala to NOT be all things to all people but to break out her inner “Joan of Arc”, if that even exists to defeat the Fascist threat that’s about to rock our world!! An FYI I have done some canvassing door to door in Cobb county GA where I now live and is a purple once reliably Red county!!

Great conversation! I ordinarily do not listen to The Warning for laughs but I howled when I heard Trump's brainstorm for an episode of The Apprentice. I won't spoil it for thread readers that haven't listened yet, but it's something you'd expect from the likes of David Duke IF David Duke was a moron.

My cousin is a NYC architect that had some in-person dealings with Donald Trump 15 or 20 years ago. Like Steve, my cousin found Trump very charming in a one-on-one setting. My cousin did not or does not support Donald Trump's presidency. Far from it. Still, when Trump was first elected in 2016, he thought the silver lining would be Trump's enormous ego. Like banks, it was too big to fail. He thought Trump, as promised, would install "the very best people" into his administration. I took solace in that reasonable sounding theory about Trump.

Clearly though, my cousin underestimated Trump's megalomania and overestimated his intelligence.
