And Kyrsten Sinema has bowed out of a run for re-election. Please Arizona — spare the country Kari Lake as your US Senator. Let’s move forward with the idea of keeping lunatics out of public service.

Something I came across today that I wanted to share.

https://youtu.be/og0X3-lDQts?si=8bMHE5s6EwONksV5

Here is Richard Nixon, in 1994, entirely predicting Putin. Nixon said if freedom failed in Russia, then what he called a New Despotism would arise. This New Despotism would bring with it Russian Imperialism that would pose a mortal danger to the world.

Sounds right.

Yes, this is impressive. No question that Nixon's moral compass was flawed, yet he remained quite shrewd on foreign policy.

Thanks for giving my day 4 minutes of joy.

Marvin too was good, and died young. He was 44.

Just watching the Super Tuesday results and I think it's unbelievable in the absurd that so so many people support one who embraces not one value, not one, that America promotes and cherishes.

I also have been greatly struck by this. I am getting used to the idea, sadly, that this country is undergoing a change and it is a change for the worse.

How else do I explain that the Lt. Governor of North Carolina, Mark Robinson, is a Holocaust Denier and Anti-Semite who with terrible venom attacks Muslims and gay people and anyone who opposes his views.

How do people elect this man? But they did. And they may make him Governor this year.

And his timeless question: "What's goin' on?"

Would be great intro music for a Biden/Harris rally.

"There is great purpose in the right fights. Freedom is a worthy cause. Humanity is a worthy cause. Justice is a worthy cause. Peace is a worthy pursuit. Reconciliation over retribution is any easy moral choice. There is urgency in the cause of liberty." Your empowering words followed by the Marvin Gaye song which truly is "beautiful, tragic, idealistic, and hopeful" is deeply moving. We need this.

Then you hammer Trump and Fascism with powerful punches and the perfect photos; way to go!

Excellent song. I had forgotten how great of a talent Marvin Gaye was. Thanks for the reminder, Steve.

And may we remember all of those who served our nation so selflessly when it comes time to save the Republic in November.

As I expected, Republicans in North Carolina nominated a Holocaust Denier to run for Governor.

A very sad day for anyone who believes in truth and decency. This, as much as anything, is why I am disgusted with the people in this country.

I remember well when this song was popular. I must've been 8 or 9. My second grade teacher was a lovely Black woman. I knew something terrible had happened and that she was upset. But we didn't discuss it at all. Probably about half my class were Black kids.i always wondered why we didn't talk about it. But she must have been too heartbroken.

I listened to Marvin Gay singing Abraham, Martin and John, it brought me to tears.. It also brought me to see this moment through a different perspective, to realize how often the seekers and defenders of peace, freedom and liberty for all here at home over the years failed to adequately defend it.. What it also shows is perhaps self evident, and the only definitively effective way forward.. Which is to defend it like it’s being attacked.. Because what has and is being done isn’t working..

A eye-popping article about what really happened behind the "fake electors plot" in today's NYT. Front page headline: Messages Trace 'Fake Electors' To Their Roots.

Why hasn’t Garland indicted them? Is seems like there is a ton of documentation to indict. Why isn’t there any outcry for this? Why is Garland allowed to remain as AG?

Here's another one for today.

Penetrating. Joy, beauty, and despair at our wanton exploitation of the earth. This was released in 1971, the same year Trump was made president of his father's company.

I don’t think people really understand the stakes in this election. I don’t think they grasp what this country will really be like to have no freedom, to be told what to think, say and do. I don’t think people that stay home inn protest is a vote for Trump. His cult will vote in unison. It’s really up to the non MAGA to let their differences abate for one election and unite to save this democracy.

Only one ideology is going to allow our democracy to continue, hold your nose and vote for Biden, every Democrat Senatorial and Congressional Candidate. The president can’t function without the cooperation of the Senate and Congress.

Down ballot is just as important to prevent additional voting restrictions and more gerrymandering. Make people like Jim Jordan have to run a real election with real competition . I think that is the only way to attract responsible people to run for office instead of the performative clowns we are now saddled with.

This song never fails to seriously move me. I was in my late teens when these assassinations occurred and it was crushing. I can remember every bit of each of these monsterous events and my hopeful, youthful future dreams were crushed. This song evokes that searing lose but also somehow evokes the optimism that each of these heros bought into our young and hopeful lives.
