Well said, Steve! As usual. Let’s hope some advisors from Kamala’s campaign read your words.

There is no doubt in my mind that Traitor Trump is a Putin agent! The Helsinki fiasco of 2018 will never be erased from my mind! VOTE ALL BLUE AS INTEND TO DO!!!

Am sure Trump has gotten Russia pay offs, as with the million$ from Egypt!

Why do you think Trump remained so faithful to Putin?

Also, Putin 'owns' Trump, as in KGB tactics. Dark secrets could be used at any time....

Exactly five years ago, Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in one of the dumbest moves of his presidency—the dumbest when it comes to foreign policy.

This is not a partisan statement. It’s also true that President Joe Biden’s failure to reverse Trump’s misstep ranks as the most puzzling—and may prove to be most catastrophic—decision in his term of office so far.

But Trump’s move on May 8, 2018, set the stage for whatever disasters may come of it. By the time he pulled the plug, Iran was well on its way to dismantling its nuclear program. International inspectors, who were granted full access to suspect sites, said in all of their routine reports that Iran was in full compliance with the deal’s terms.

Tesla is going down, but other EV companies are doing okay.

The fact that so many people consider Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal a smart foreign policy decision amazes me. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action required Iran to discontinue its nuclear program. In exchange the U.S. would lift most of its sanctions against Iran. The International Atomic Energy Agency was empowered to inspect nuclear sites in Iran to ensure compliance. The provisions limiting uranium enrichment would have made it impossible for Iran to produce nuclear weapons.

The severe economic sanctions imposed by the Trump administration ruined the Iranian economy, destabilizing the country, re-inforced and spread the opinion of many Iranians that our country is the "Great Satan." At the same time, as a result of this bad decision Iran is closer than ever to joining the "Nuclear Club" and the Middle East is closer to all out war.

Why did Trump do this? He hated Obama so much, despised the idea of a successful Black president so much, that he wanted to destroy any accomplishments of Obama's presidency. In other words, he did it for the same reason he and other Magats are hell bent on destroying the ACA, formerly known as Obamacare.

Racism and xenonophobia are dead end streets.

To me, part of the reason that withdrawing from the Iran treaty wasn't that controversial was that the right wing had relentlessly criticized that treaty from the start. They are adept at lying and spinning. Many Americans bought their bullshit and did not stop to think that without being a party to the treaty, we would have no inspection rights of Iran's nuclear program. And that when dealing with a foreign adversary, there are essentially only two avenues: diplomatically or militarily. This treaty was advantageous to us but the idiotic Republicans only wanted to criticize Obama, not make our position stronger and also not make the world safer.

My technical skills are very limited. I forgot to put quote marks around the opening three paragraphs and eliminate the "t," time notations, and sentence about Tesla. The quote is from https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/05/trump-iran-nuclear-deal-withdrawal-five-years-later.html

The rest of the post is my summary and reaction to the entire article.

Kamala might be able to use this in a debate about foreign policy.

Also, she should repeatedly reference Trump's love for Putin and other dictators, emphasizing that he exchanged "love letters" with Kim Jung Un after Kim swept him off his feet with his charming personality. How could anyone not fall in love with him?

Let's not forget his abrasive attitude towards and threats aimed at our traditional allies while sucking up to Putin and telling him he "could do what the hell ever he wants in Ukraine."

Doesn't matter. We read your comment and it was perfectly presented...no one cares about typos or forgotten quote marks. We understand. :)

While inspiring our sense of national pride, empathy, and core values is important, it's equally crucial that she provides clear, practical plans. She should outline concrete steps to improve everyday life, such as making essentials more affordable and expanding access to education and healthcare. People aspire to live their best lives, and she needs to present a detailed roadmap showing how her policies will help achieve that goal.

The economy is a tough one and a huge disadvantage for her. Too many only know that they're paying more for food and gas than they were 4 or 5 years ago. The pandemic's impact on the global economy, price gouging resulting in the highest profits for food companies in their history, as well as continued crazy profits for oil/gas companies, is too complicated for most to process. Instead, they just say, "It's more today than it was before." The nuances don't matter and the fact that we have the fastest recovered economy post the pandemic is meaningless. The fact that inflation is very close to the targeted 2% for the first time in years doesn't help either. The fact that presidents don't set the price of gas or the interest rate doesn't help them understand either. TFG just spews nonsense and doesn't have to support it in any way and far too many people swallow this hook, line, and sinker.

So, it helps if the focus is on those things, but she needs to go beyond that to reach the reachable - the very people Steve is suggesting she reach out to.

It seems that the public doesn’t understand the concept of inflation. Prices never go DOWN unless there’s a recession.

Expand full comment

And few prices will ever return to previous figures! Companies did a job on raising prices so their profits would increase! Plain and simple! If you do not think so, look at what CEO’s are being paid! Do you know a POOR bank?

While in complete sympathy with your post, here's the rub: What specific actions could she propose to make "essentials more affordable?" I think that's beyond the capacity of any organization, let alone any individual.

Expand full comment

Yes, but…most Americans want to know how she will make their lives affordable. In some States, Immigration is going to drive votes. Safety and security are also important and love of country and respect for our military are up there too.. the messages of innovation, etc are important but not at the top of the list except as a way to enable affordability throigh job creation, accessibility to goods and services and housing at cheaper prices.

Kamala has a vision for our future and Donald Trump wants to drag us backwards. Hope and vision must rise above the fear of change because change comes whether you are ready for it or not. Trying to stand still and ignoring change has never been a solution to any problem. Donald Trump does not have any answers that is why he is so vocal with his complaints. He blames others and say if it was done his way things would be different. However, we have all seen that movie before. We must all remember his answer to the COVID virus was injecting bleach to kill the virus and the snake oil cure of Ivermectin. He sewed doubt in the vaccines and many more deaths occurred because of it. His solution to the immigration problem was to put children in cages and separate them from their parents without any plan for reunification. His ideas are as bad as his policies and when he loses he incites insurrection. We as a country do not need another 4 years to decide Donald Trump is wrong and dangerous.

Kamala Harris has ideas on how to make things more affordable. I believe we should give her a chance. She believes in the American dream as I do I. We are stronger when everyone is doing well and not when wealth trickles down. We have all seen how the billionaires spend lavish sums on themselves and leave minimal tips for the working staff. Their idea of trickle down economics is not like the rain. It trickles down alright because the organ is old and in disrepair. So don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining. Give us working class a fair chance at upward mobility and see how high the economy will grow. We, the working class drive the economy and make the wealthiest more money. It is about time they pay their fair share of the taxes instead of evading them with convoluted laws written by politicians who take bribes called contributions from corporate greed. There is room for everyone in America to flourish when the system is equal for everyone. That is the American dream as seen by our Forefathers and we only have to stick together and realize it by electing Kamala Harris for President. Fascism does not have a home on our shores. Please don't give it shelter or a chance to spread.

tRump will never be accused of vision. He is a stooge/figurehead for those fascists who crafted Project 2025. His understanding of nearly all issues is surface at best. He and the GQP as a whole have no governing ideas other than implementing authoritarianism. The voters need to realize this.

Hey Steve,

Whenever I read something such as this coming from The Warning I'm once again lifted to see and believe in what can be. Always well written with your special brand of honest good intent. However, there is a part of me that remains uncertain. Leaving me to wonder if high ranking members of the campaign are seeing these posts, or for that matter thinking in this way. It is encouraging to me seeing the way Vice President Harris is defining her own rules on engaging with the press, her masterful CNN interview is a prime example. Her circumnavigation of the press to speak directly with the American people is by itself a powerful tactic. It is always my hope that these posts are read by the top of the ticket, I can't know that. I can only lean on my belief that you are still well connected enough to make it possible that they are.

Great suggestions for a coherent, ennobling and inspiring vision for America’s future that Kamala already seems wont to do. I would add the indispensable theme that the nation’s moral character is signally defined by defending our belief that supporting the universal, natural human right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness sometimes commands us to discharge a moral obligation to criticize our foreign allies when they betray these norms and shame us as well as themselves on the world stage

Yes, moral character is core to a thriving and safe Democracy!

As far as the high prices of groceries is concerned: When grocery companies merge you see monopolies in formation. In any university and college economics class they teach that prices for food generally go up when food grocery chains merge. If VP Harris has plans to resist monopoly formation, she needs to make that known.

You tell 'em, Steve. They need to hear your advice instead of leading people by the nose and bombarding them with fear, to give them a vision for the future, not as a dystopia, but as an opening for discovery. Can't get much better than a JFK template! I'm just honked that the media demands "specifics" of Harris' various plans while tolerating utter jibberish from Trump. "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
