The hour has come for Vice President Harris to start talking about some of the ideas that flesh out the vision of service, achievement, patriotism and optimism that were successfully conveyed during the Chicago convention a few weeks ago.
Free advice is worth what you pay for it, but here is some of mine for the Harris campaign:
Dust off the JFK speech folder. Use it as the template for three big initiatives that are easily understood and aligned with American values, including service, exploration, education, innovation and individualism.
Kamala Harris should call a generation of Americans to service. Specifically, she should call a generation of Americans to close the recruiting shortages facing the Armed Forces, and while doing so, she should commit to making sure that the disgrace of serving families relying on food stamps to eat ends.
America’s fighting men and women should be paid a living wage and live in superb housing with superb facilities and access to superior health care, nutrition, medical facilities and mental health services. Our commitment to our veterans must be strengthened and the terrible suicide epidemic faced, fought and defeated.
The vice president should activate the American people to teach, nurse, pastor and serve all over America and all over the world. There is a generation of Americans in their 50s and 60s who are at the top of their game and ready to begin the adventure of second careers. Twenty-three years ago when America was attacked, the presidwnt told the country to go shopping. It wasn’t enough. The American people have always demanded more ambition from their presidents, and when the task is noble and great, have always responded.America is a nation of explorers. The VP should make clear that America will lead the world in the 21st century by leading the world in scientific research and discovery. The template for talking about these subjects should be JFK’s Rice University speech:
Specifically, the frame should be updated to explain the pace of scientific discovery, including AI, and what it will mean, or could mean, for all of us. Whether it be AI, fusion energy, super computing, medical research, brain science or anything at the cutting edge of what is known and unknown, the United States and the world’s free nations must maintain their preeminence. This is a matter of safety and survival.
The United States seeks peace and will maintain peace through overwhelming military strength. The policy of the United States will be to remain the world’s most powerful military, economic, scientific and discovery power.
The United States will maintain Earth’s preeminent land, air, sea, space and cyberspace warfare capabilities. Along with our allies, we must remain stronger than our adversaries and competitors. This is the only way that peace is maintained. The simple truth is that Donald Trump was the weakest, dumbest and most unprepared president in American history. He was a failure who weakened America and incited expansion and aggression against our interests all over the world with his epic incoherence and general idiocies, which made our friends tremble and enemies cheer.
Well said, Steve! As usual. Let’s hope some advisors from Kamala’s campaign read your words.
There is no doubt in my mind that Traitor Trump is a Putin agent! The Helsinki fiasco of 2018 will never be erased from my mind! VOTE ALL BLUE AS INTEND TO DO!!!
