I took these pictures of Icelandic horses from the saddle, riding in front of the herd, on a seven-day trek across Iceland. These are some of the best wildlife pics I think I’ve ever taken.
I’d love for you to share yours with The Warning community.
Steve great photos But I don’t know how to send any of my photos to share.. I’m not a tech person! Truly kind of you to share your travels I’ve loved Iceland on two visits
Thanks ..my late husband owned a ranch and farm and rode his entire life..I rode in Central Park in NYC exercising privately owned thoroughbred’s twice a week ….
He could even twirl the ropes and lasso
Stuff … I’ve lived an extraordinary life🌹
Very blessed to travel the world and to be treasured and be loved and have children and grandchildren I’m very grateful for
They are very special horses adapting to their environment. I've been there and have ridden them. I come from an equestrian extended family and we stayed at a horse farm. They are so beautiful, their manes so soft, really they are so special. Gorgeous photos Steve !
I don't have many wildlife photos, certainly nothing to compare to your horse photos, which I as a man who made his living photographing motion pictures for over 30 years, really enjoyed looking at. I do enjoy a nice image, and you delivered Steve. Since the start of Covid, I have isolated in the interest of staying alive, and I have tried to focus on something creative, that I could do almost daily, to that end I have been photographing flowers, the majority of which I have grown. The Buddhist taught me that everything is in a constant state of change, from beginning to end, never static, and would most often demonstrate that with a flower, so I thought, why not concentrate on flowers, I can grow them and if I don't happen to have any that I have grown, I can always buy a few and play with them as well. Close to 30,000 images later I have a library of photos that my grandchildren will inherit. My daughters helped me build a website with the idea that others would like looking at them as much as my family and friends. They can be viewed at www.montagnephotos.com Getting a website working is way more work that I'm not as suited too, as I am at creating images, oh well. Like most people, I have never been one to run from work, it's what we do with our lives after all, and it gives meaning to our time here, so being fully engaged, is the order of the day. To that end I have some photos of a Pileated Woodpecker family of 3, visiting my suet feeder last year, they are so shy and very cautious, just seeing 1 is a thrill and seeing 3 at once was amazing. I've had over 50 different species of birds visit my yard and feeders, it's fun to be out there with them while I'm working. I have no idea where those pictures are, although I did take them with my iPhone so they must be on it, somewhere. Which leads me to the problem that I share with all of you it seems; I have no idea how to post a picture here in the comments to The Warning, maybe it's not possible, yet. 😎
I wish I was trekking in Iceland! How extraordinary and the photos are spectacular. Horses are a godsend, think of all they’ve done for humans throughout history. We should appreciate, protect and care for them! Thanks for posting.
Six years ago some friends and I did a 40 mile week long hike in the backcountry of San Juan National Park in Colorado. We crossed the Continental Divide, Hunchback Pass and Columbine Pass. We saw lots of marmots and a moose (didn’t get a photo) and one day, inexplicably a mountain goat and her kid followed us for a couple miles! I figured it was because we had been sweating and gone several days without showers so we likely smelled like family! My photos wouldn’t win any prizes but I really enjoyed the hike. There was one day where the wild flowers covered the mountain sides and came up to my shoulders. It was incredibly beautiful. https://share.icloud.com/photos/027pCSdYMDxrY-i7KmNvw_TTwhttps://share.icloud.com/photos/00dab2HqghfRN3Zhh5m3Mtf5Ahttps://share.icloud.com/photos/054_bkZ53WOZeknbKQwDJyEFA
Stunning photos! Horses doing what horses are supposed to do. Not to be irreverent, it's hard not to think of Mick Jagger when looking at Wild Horses. One other thought. Two warnings from Steve today. One about wildlife and one about Kelleyanne Conway, but only one has integrity.
Your photos are inspiring! Thank you for sharing. I was able to grab this pic of Rocky Mountain Sheep near Independence Pass, Colorado, while exploring the Rocky Mountains with my daughter. We are so grateful for all our natural wonders!
I had the good fortune to ride an Icelandic horse in Iceland. His name: Uncle Sam. I fell in love with these unique and gorgeous critters. Was unable to share two photos in this response. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have some Icelandic photos to share from a friend that has quite a few on a huge ranch in Evergreen, Colorado, but do not see a way to share here as you suggested.

Steve,
Their freedom to run unrestricted parallels your ability to speak truth!
Bravo man!

Absolutely beautiful! Amazing photos of majestic horses. My wildlife photo of a quail on my deck, although I like it, pales in comparison.

Steve
You have helped me these last two years with the facts about current issues.
I would like to recommend two great historians to you and your other readers: Timothy Snyder of Yale and
Stephen Kotkin of Princeton.
Snyder has studied Ukraine for thirty years.
Kotkin studied Russia for about thirty years.
Together the best literature on tyranny despotism the holocaust and Russia and China and Ukraine.
Thanks

These are the “wild” horses on Assateague Island, MD. Sad thing is the signs say “no feeding the horses”, but you know human behavior.

Extraordinary photos, Steve! Especially shot from a saddle in front of the herd?! That is impressive.
Do aspen trees count as wildlife? To me, they do. Trees are so loving. Here is my newest: https://originals.laurenforcella.com/product/aspen-trail-original-painting/
Beautiful!
Love the action shot; gorgeous pictures.

Very nice pics, Steve! I’m currently in Kenya on safari myself. Let me see if I can post a couple...
Love your pics Steve. You crack me up. Never know where you'll be next.
The photos of the horses are uber cool, but I think a seven day trek across Iceland is even cooler! Bravo!

Were you riding backwards Steve???? But seriously .... these are great.
Steve these photos are absolutely gorgeous! I can feel the wild, unrestrained beauty through your lens!😍
Beautiful to see animals free to roam this beautiful world with freedom!
I'd love to see one of you on horseback in the lead of this most amazing herd while you're on an adventure of a lifetime.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. Having never been to Iceland, seeing horses running wild is the last thing I would expect to see.
Wow! These are so majestic and powerful.
I have some Icelandic photos to share from a friend that has quite a few on a huge ranch in Evergreen, Colorado, but do not see a way to share here as you suggested.
Stunning beauty. These are my spirit animals.
Wild and stunning!!
Just WOW!

Nice capture of the herd. I’m planning a trip to Scandinavia in the spring. On the fence about including Iceland on trip. Not anymore. Thanks
Beautiful
Gorgeous! Pls post more pics!
Really amazing and to think you got it from the saddle!
