Wow, I really enjoy & appreciate Steve letting us sit on his shoulder and gift us with a small fraction of a window of time into his travels. His writing makes me feel as though I’m there too. His timing is impeccable because I need the distraction while waiting for this debate. My stomach is in knots praying Biden is at the top of his game.
I believe we have been in WW3 for a while now. It just doesn’t look or feel like we all imagined. WW3 doesn’t begin the day a nuke is launched. Hopefully that does not happen, but I believe we are in it for real and it is building and only going to get worse. I pray for our children & world 🌎

You should feel NO embarrassment or shame. Too often in my now eighty years I have taken people at face value, a victim of being overly trusting and gullible (my mother's repeated warning!). Sadly, because of politicians, technology, and business moguls the art and presence of trust and truth have been relegated to the dustbin of history. I became the consummate cynic not by choice but by necessity.
Very interesting story. I read just about everything John le Carré the spy novelist wrote. But it is so eye opening to read your writing, the perspective of a female, non British and non too imaginary.
The Putin fascists are such bastards. They have turned Russian and Ukrainian refugee sites into suspected fifth columns to subvert not only the NATO countries but also to punish those who yearn for freedom and democracy. The liminal war is on and double and triple agents and provocteurs are part of the new long twilight struggle across the western democracies. And America has no idea how bad the Trumpian and Putin threads are here, right now, as the nightmare unfolds in this year's elections.
