To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: the focus of evil in the modern world is China. There is no doubt China will invade Taiwan. Not if, but when. There are a lot of depraved actors in the world today and our own MAGA crew is one of them. Try as we may to put ourselves up as Exceptional, the last ten years revealed our own deep-rooted problems and mostly evens us out with the sordid and depraved. We cannot hold a light to others.

In the mid '70s we had friends who lived in DC across from the apartment building housing Russia's embassy staff. IIRC, one day the Russians called the FBI or DC police to report a package left on their steps, perhaps thinking it was a bomb. The authorities retrieved the package; it was a bundle of sensitive documents that an American intelligence operator was trying to sell to the Russians.

And Iran is really a proxy for Russia and indirectly for China.
