Here’s my reaction to the news that Donald Trump has been indicted by a grand jury in Manhattan as District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has been investigating the former president in connection with his alleged role in a hush money payment scheme and cover-up involving adult film star Stormy Daniels that dates to the 2016 presidential election. I explain why this will not be good for Trump’s 2024 election campaign, and importantly, why it is a “most dangerous hour” for our country.
And grateful that you are in mine, I see we both work in Hospice. Thank God we all have each other here, and that we have Steve who we can trust to be truthful in speaking to power.

Amazing presentation. The fact that NYers will take down this slithering vermin is poetic justice, and NY is the perfect place to start. I was watching something on the tube, news show, didn't pay much attention (maybe supporting tRump at the courthouse round 1), but when I looked up several Proud Boys (the real back country good ole' boy variety) were being berated and chased around by random NYers on the street with some very choice words (Get the F out of NY, etc etc). One of the PB's was fast walking away from his tormentors whining (at least that's consistent), "I just came here to help", to which he was treated with increased scorn. Point of the anecdote, NYers deliver deserved tough love like no other, you can't gaslight and trash talk a NYer without getting your head handed to you. tRump will get a fair shake in NY, but when convicted he will feel the pain
It is unfathomable to me that the Desperate Measures required to counter the ever increasing slide into Authoritarianism and Christofascism perpetuating the demise of our Democracy during these most Desperate Times have yet to be deployed..
I agree completely with every word you said. My language has gone out the window finally. Debased by pure exhaustion and depression, by the force of Fascism . Frustrating, I have watched in abject horror and anger at ruthless actors trying to destroy Our Great Country.
Why do people listen and believe these lying people? Lack of fundamental education on how The Government of the United States works. The Constitution, whose principles are supposed to be respected and honored are being challenged and tested constantly. Very disturbing but unfortunately accurate depiction you describe Steven. Just a few thoughts: - one thing that works against us is the SLOW moving Justice system. They’re already predicting that THIS one indictman will take well-over a year. Surely, Trump will delay and put every obstacle in front of this that he can. Second, I predict that even IF the Justice dept in NYC opts out of putting handcuffs on Trump, Trump will INSIST that he wears them, for the photo-op to play up his victimization. Lastly, I predict that when it comes to the trial, Trump, the authoritarian that he is, will claim that there is no such thing as the “jury of your peers” because he deems himself above all others. Hope I’m wrong about these things...but that’s what I see comin’!~
We are watching a multi-vehicle pileup that is our country unfold in slow motion. The breaks have failed and no amount of pumping them will help in avoiding the inevitable. Everything is broken.

I wonder how others cannot feel the approach/threat of fascism and then Steve adds the words of previous fascists (dead but not forgotten) and I know. That full faced picture of DJT will be the closest I will ever come to looking that person in the eyes. I could stare down the genuine article and not blink because I know what I feel and what I know and I am right.

People going after Mr. Soros for his religion, or Asians people, LGBQT+ people, brown or black people, immigrants, poor people, and women, is part of fascist beliefs. A horror fantasy being laid out for them by Trump. A person who doesn’t care about how they feel, or how they struggle in life. He does, however, care about how they think. He pushes them to suppress groups of people and makes them believe that, if they “don’t fight like hell,” they are going to get them. A horror story with a morbid ending, beyond their comprehension level, which ends with the implanted notion that the monsters are real and they’re coming for them. They need deadly military style assault weapons to protect themselves in their fantasy world of terror.
Painting himself as a victim and saying that “only I (Trump) can save you” sounds ridiculous to most Americans, but to the kindergarten class at his feet, they believe him. Republicans have been building toward a power-hungry autocratic state for several decades. Look at the American institution that are controlled by Republicans today. What they are doing to our freedoms? Reagan took away our anti-monopoly oversite, giving us mega-corporation that put efficiency and profit before human health, safety. They gerrymander voting districts, limiting who can vote and how they can vote. Republicans have used their power in congress to withhold placements of judges, then place judges who judge along their strict lines of thinking. Remember McConnell told the senate he would not allow President Obama to appoint a supreme court judge because it was too close to an election? Trump got in and they put in Neil Gorsuch. Then, Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away just before Trump’s failed election. Immediately, McConnell forced through Amy Coney Barrett’s appointment. The lie that everyone heard, and loudly distained, but he and the Republicans pressed on to other business.
Republicans are not pro-police, they are not pro-life, they are not pro-justice, they don’t want to negotiate or compromise. All they have ever wanted is power, and they are willing to lie, in all ways possible, to get it.
