Steve's commentary today reminded me of a line from F. Scott Fitzgerald's the "Great Gatsby." "Americans, while willing, even eager, to be serfs, have always been obstinate about being peasantry." Populism on the right, MAGA, appeals to people who embrace serfdom. They believe in the right of a privileged class, usually backed by religious or secular dogmatism, to rule them. They want to be told they are better than the lesser people who create the hardships in their lives and they fawn over the ruling class they adore for giving them this praise and they believe this class has their best interests at heart, while that class exploits them mercilessly. In today's America, populism on the left, Democratic Socialists are like the peasants, who value nothing more than the right to enjoy their lives as independent and free citizens. They recognize the exploiting class for the villains they are and want to create a political, economic, and social system that provides the best life for all, restraining the worse aspects of capitalism and conserving the best through caring government interventions.
It is easier to be a serf than a peasant but ultimately the strength and determination of the free-thinking peasantry wins out, aided by the increasing depravity of a ruling class that causes so much pain among the serfs, as well as the peasants, that change becomes inevitable. It seems to be a pattern, repeating itself endlessly throughout all history.

It is the fact MAGANAZIs and their Christian fascist allies don’t understand. And, that fact is the privileged class doesn’t care about you. They are only interested in their own well being. Not yours. Never, ever.
Capitalism has many benefits as well as detriments. The fine balance that must be achieved is a difficult task. MAGANAZIs don’t want to do the work. The three branches of America's government, are like a three-legged stool. When one leg is broken, the other two legs, either must carry the weight, or they also become weakened! That is the government we have today: only ALL three branches of government are broken at the same time!
I laugh at frump when he calls Democrats, communists. After all, doesn't frump worship Putin? And, doesn't Putin want Russia, and the other countries under the old Soviet Union regime, to be one communistic country again? When our forefathers started this country, they wanted and supported public schools, a United States Post Office, free libraries, and other things for ALL of the American citizens to enjoy; not just for the rich and powerful. Unfortunately, because of our history with slavery; those who were not "white", could not enjoy those "free ideas", even after they were "freed", after the Civil War! In fact, many people today, some even in all three branches of our government, lead by frump and MAGA, want to erase what the Civil Rights Act protects, and take away those hard earned freedoms and rights! They are taking our rights away, bit by bit, until making the loss of those rights feel "normal". Voting rights, are being striped, or rules are added to make voting harder and harder, for more and more Americans. Women's rights are also being taken away. First, it was the right to choose. If the "christian nationalists" have their way; a woman's right to vote will also be taken away! When we wake up from this nightmare, and climb back into the daylight; we must fight to repair and improve all of the damage that frump, Miller, Bannon, and GOP/MAGA and the Supreme Court, has done over the decades-starting with fixing and improving the three branches of government! So that in the future, no American has to live as a second class citizen! And, everyone looking for a better life, will be welcomed, and can come live in America, in happiness and peace! Just as "Lady Liberty" welcomes people from other lands, and tells us what America should be!

The writers of the past were not afraid to speak in big, broad ideas, sound the equivalent of a klaxon horn to make people motivated to unite for a better future for themselves and others. Why are today's politicians so afraid to sound patriotic, to express their love of freedom, equality, justice, rights to feel safe and protected by our governments and not attacked, threatened, stolen from, denied, seized, deported, indicted, blackmailed, have our votes and rights takenaway or rewritten according to a MOB BOSS trump, GOP Congress, DOJ, FBI, DHS, USPS, US Supreme Court, DOD. I am very in love with the idea of our democratic Constitutional republic because there was always hope in me for a "more perfect Union" through voting. I believe in voting for the common good and how it might create a country for all our people to live in peace and happiness. Humans are often incapable of seeing this possibility, sacrificing a little for a bigger 'good," and insist on hatefilled, violent assaults on anyone just a little less able to defend themselves. I think that the "leaders" of the MAGA movement, know what they are doing! It is very obvious to me that frump wants to destroy everything that America stands for! However, I am not sure that every MAGA (or former GOP) really knows what they are doing when they vote! The difference between serfdom and peasentry is attitude, Not phtsical condition. If history is repeating itself we MUST be mindful of the subtile changes. Like a sybling that is NOT a twin there is no twin era. In our era there is much wealth...enough perhaps to help those less fortunate have a stressless life. But there is a vast expance between those with and those without and here's where "attitude" is the culprit. Can those "with" remove the blinders of self? Can attitude be made to see reality rather than ephemera? We MUST try and we must suceed or the American experiment will fail.

For judgment of the guilty not like Trump and his retributions
A war requires citizens of their service
Who will fight for the country now in distress
Who believe in the common sense of Thomas Paine
His naming of the new land and as it should remain
The United States of America, not blue and red
But a united land of red white and blue instead
Trump needs our nation to operate in disfunction
So he become wealthier on its corruption
Billionaires influence the courts with donations
By corrupting judges and their adjudications
All these favors have tipped the scales of justice
Perverting the Constitution causing Injustice
First to go were the illegal criminal element
For which I have no reason to lament
Then came the biggest Injustice of the new DOJ
Using private prisons for illegals to stay
Peaceful families falling victim to our mortal storm
Some here decades paying taxes trying to conform
Abiding laws, working hard wanting only to stay
In a new country, where freedom was on display
Now Lady Liberty cries for her huddled masses
In courts struggling with justice stuck in molasses
Trump turned his anger on a perceived weaker nation
Not listening to advice, following his own inclination
The consequences of attacking without a plan
Leave us stuck in a war with Iran, led by a foolish man
He sends family and men without the proper skill
To negotiate a peace deal for fool on the hill
A midterm election brings hope for a new start
To rid a nation of bad apples on Congress's cart
Remember the sacrifices our forefathers made
And return democracy to the land from which it strayed.
As always stay positive and remember democracy demands our best in Congress. We must elect only those who will work to restore our nation. Who will not look the other way when our laws are being perverted for the billionaires enrichment. Peace ✌️ Pat (Packy) P

The difference between serfdom and peasentry is attitude, Not phtsical condition. If history is repeating itself we MUST be mindful of the subtile changes. Like a sybling that is NOT a twin there is no twin era. In our era there is much wealth...enough perhaps to help those less fortunate have a stressless life. But there is a vast expance between those with and those without and here's where "attitude" is the culprit. Can those "with" remove the blinders of self? Can attitude be made to see reality rather than ephemera? We MUST try and we must suceed or the American experiment will fail.
