Warning #4: If it talks like a Nazi, it is a Nazi

Nur für Deutsche. It means “Only for Germans.”
Judenrein. It means “cleansed [or free] of Jews.” Before millions were murdered in the death camps, European ghettos and remote forests, JUDENREIN signs were hung in national parks, where the Aryan Superman could enjoy nature free from racial pollution.
The exclamation point of Trump’s fascist closing argument in Madison Square Garden
was the nativist declaration by Stephen Miller, the architect of his extremist policies and chief ideologist that “America is for Americans, and Americans only.” Make no mistake, this rhetoric, along with Tucker Carlson’s replacement theory mentions, would have been a perfect fit at any Nazi rally in 1930s Germany.
The simple truth is that any comparison between Trump’s repugnant fascist rally in 2024 and Fritz Kuhn’s Bund rally in February of 1939 are specious. Kuhn was viewed as a crackpot and an embarrassment to the cause in Berlin. Trump is a former president and the Republican nominee. The monster is well and truly at the door.
Mika Brzezinski seems confused by all of it. She wondered on “Morning Joe” how it could have happened:
It’s not just, ‘Oh my gosh’ about the race, it’s ‘Oh my gosh—how did we get here?’ How did we get here, where a stadium of people come to hate? That’s a different country, a different time.
Really?
The short answer is cynicism.
More important though is the result, the consequence.
The result is Nazi rhetoric.
Or is it MAGA rhetoric?
Or is Republican rhetoric?
Or is it Trump rhetoric?
Or is it all one in the same?
Let’s ask Scott Jennings!
What a farce. The collapse of trust between the American people and every institution of consequence has been well-documented, and more importantly, well-earned. Trump’s rise would not have been possible, but for the wholesale corruption and disregard of both the public interest and public good that destroyed American journalism over the last 10 years. The hour has arrived when a world-class demagogue has created a powerful cult of personality. He has blurred the ability of half the country to recognize reality from delusion, and injected a poisonous divisiveness into the society, inflaming every tension imaginable. All of it has been done for a singular reason: the attainment of political power.
Sunday night at Madison Square Garden was a chilling preview of terrible things to come. There will be no avoiding epic catastrophe in Trump’s second term. Life and death decisions left in the hands of the disordered personalities that took the fascist dais in MSG will result in death. The country has reached a dire hour, during which only the American people are left to save us from the American people.
The United States is the only country in the world made up of all of the world’s people, where every language is commonly spoken every day. This has made us the most powerful country on Earth, and together, we have fed more people, clothed more people, liberated more people and done more good in the world than all of the other nations of the world put together since the beginning of time. Yet, we have always lived with a malignancy that has held that some Americans are racially and religiously superior to others. It has created our lowest moments and greatest sins.
Today’s warning is simple: if it talks like a Nazi, it is a Nazi.

Just an incredibly sad time in our nation’s history that this miscreant and his enablers are on the very verge of assuming power. I can vote and do what I can, but the sadness I have for what has happened to my country and to my fellow citizens is almost overwhelming.
Not to belabor the point but compared to Miller, Trump is just a sloppy mob boss who struggles to connect things in a cogent, fluent manner. Miller, on the other hand is tactically and philosophically FAR more diabolical; someone who feeds the talking points to the boss, due to his incapacity to develop them on his own. Miller scares the shit out of me.
