Steve--let me share my perspective which is shared by the majority of LGBT people--Log Cabin turncoats aside.

Matt Schlapp is most likely a closeted gay man. The closet is toxic. There is no other word.

He can’t live his truth because he is too busy perpetuating lies. Those lies turn into his friends legislating against us. This makes him the worst kind of gay. There have been so many in the GOP over the years that we’ve lost count.

I don’t fault him for marrying a woman. That has happened to countless LGBT folks. Until one can live his or her truth, life is a train wreck and others get taken down with the closeted person. But when you go out of your way to foster a climate of hate--then we consider you the lowest form of pond scum.

Ingraham is right there with him. Not because she’s closeted. It’s just as bad though. She has a gay brother and has gone out of her way to spread lies and hate.

I don’t know how they live with themselves but my community is more than happy to call them out at every turn.

I would be disheartened for the future of our country, but for the upcoming youth! My grandkids are thoughtful, interesting, intelligent and “liberal “ young adults. They believe in equal justice for all, LGBTQ rights, peoples right to choose, and let’s quit making the rich that much richer and the poor that much poorer and saving the disappearing middle class! This gives me great hope…they are also kind, loving and generous.

Sound a lot like my grandchildren

Great comment Jan. I too have a grandson who fits in to your description. They are the up and comers!!

Wonderful! I come across many young people at work, and they give me hope for the future as well.

My 27-year-old son and his friends all fit this description and they are political savvy as well and very involved!

Love the tremendous snark; you are my people.

If FOX didn't have sexual aggressors and fascists and self-loathing sexually assaultive fascists they'd have nobody.

We need a massive 10-Porter whiteboard level diagram wherein we follow all the money- Murdoch, Federalist Society, Russia, Russia, Russia, etc

While reading this, I remembered how Hillary Clinton went undercover in Alabama to expose racism in education when she was a 24-year-old law student (you can read about it in the story linked below). Just think about how much guts that took.

And then you have these clowns.

WOW! I never heard about this. Thank you!

Oh. my. God. I have always detested Ingraham's nastiness, and hoped that it was part of an "act" to make her a star at faux news, but I never dreamed that she was this truly evil. Her sadism knows no bounds.

"Laura Ingraham loved Viktor Orban nearly as much. She hated sodomy. She loved Fidesz. He, and they, reminded her of college days when, like all good red-blooded American fascists, she outed as many gay students as she could. While there [Dartmouth], she secretly sent a reporter with a tape recorder to a campus gay students’ association meeting. She then outed the students in print and sent tapes of the meetings to the students' parents. In the magazine, she called association members 'cheerleaders for latent campus sodomites'."

Never saw it as an act. She's just a nasty person. In old school slang, a "battle axe"

I very much enjoyed that Steve's post on these hypocrites reads like a short story. I wish the characters he described, though, were only devious characters in a fiction story or novel.

kdsherpa's avatar

I agree. If only...

kdsherpa's avatar

I think because faux news stated that it is "news" program, but rather "entertainment" in a lawsuit, I thought that she was acting. I mean, she HAD to be acting! I'm so naive.

Mia Marietta's avatar

She's also very dumbly dogmatic

kdsherpa's avatar

My problem with her is that she ISN'T stupid. And "dogmatic" sells. She knows her market and she is wickedly conniving.

Mia Marietta's avatar

I have found her posturing and propagandizing provincial and revealing of a certain dullness, but, yes, she certainly knows her audience..

kdsherpa's avatar

Dull. Yes, perfect word.

This! Is! Incredible! The only thing it’s missing (not) is Lindsey Graham (cracker). Bravo, Steve!

" She hated sodomy"

Omg ....I've been sick with respiratory stuff for the last few days....I nearly fell off of the couch from laughing so hard... Wheezing and coughing ....and haven't had such a good time just reading and hearing your voice in my head in weeks.

My. God. Thank you so much.

Love you Steve.

He will only be held accountable if it is in their monetary interest. I’m exhausted as well. I detest hypocrisy and it’s so rampant it should be named as a new religion at this point!

I'd like to spearhead a project doing dramatic recreations of GOP low points. Depicting scenes like Schlapp in the passengers seat molesting the staffer while he was trying to drive. "Matt Schlapp of the CPAC grabbed my junk and pummeled it at length." Same with episodes like Trump and Epstein and the 13 year old girl. Any takers?

Gaslighting, denial and innocent until proven guilty is most likely the methods that will be used to keep this guy promoting his agenda. I doubt if Kevin will be able to comment, if anyone dares to ask. After all, he is busy with Kevin's Kangaroo Kongress, passing bills for public consumption that are DOA at the Senate chambers. And finally, I had to laugh at the comparison of the three couples at the beginning of your essay. They do have a certain look to be sure..

kdsherpa's avatar

Love your take on KKK!

Despair is what I felt as I read this, Steve, for my Black and LGBTQ+ family and friends and the children of friends. Some of them are related to Fox viewers and for those viewers, the accusations against Schlapp will not be known. IF somehow the information gets to them, even if someone sends a copy of this to them, or they hear, somehow, the accusations, they will dismiss it as "MSM-owned-and-operated-by-Jewish-people" lies. Will Fox fire Schlapp? Ha! Will any in the GOP speak out against Schlapp? Will DC become a state? Thought as long as we were looking at impossibilities ....

Fox News will do nothing about Schlapp or Ingraham and both disgust.. my heartfelt

Disappointment in their need to debase

I joined in 2015 following the Mother Emmanuel Massacre here in Charleston, SC. I could do no other. The love and the welcome I received amazed me -- hugs from the young girls! <3 (Some had been in middle school with my daughter. I think they were shocked that I had come.) There were only 3 white people in the group. I was the only "old" person.

These @#$^%$#@$%%!!! people!

These people live in some alternate universe. The scary part is they’re dead freaking serious. I’m just a surfer dude in Hawaii and this stuff just blows my mind. Religion is pretty strong here in the islands, but so is the idea to live and let live the drama that plays out with conservative population on the mainland to me is beyond belief. It’s a crazy world we live in.
