I’ve read and heard all of your offerings on this matter, everything Fox News..What I believe is required now in this moment is for the entire organization to be shut down dismantled and further legal action taken to remove this cancer from the country. The Murdochs must be stripped of their citizenship if they in fact have it and deported.. The Board of Directors of Fox News are as responsible for all of the lying and gaslighting as Carlson..they must be dealt with as well starting with Paul Ryan..The so called defenders of our Democracy have got to start playing hardball, and right fucking now..Not taking these actions is tantamount to treason..

You are spot on. I'm all for free speech, but The Murdochs, immigrants!!! should not be allowed to spoil our democracy with their propaganda.

Expand full comment

No Claudia, they should not..I am all for free speech as you are, however, one cannot yell “Fire” in a movie theater. Which is exactly what Fox News, from the boardroom to the studio to their bottom dwelling on air people did..

Sam, if the Smartmatic trial goes their way and Smartmatic gets anything close to want they are

asking for ($2 BILLION!) you may get your wish. You would think even Rupe Murdoch could not

absorb that kind of financial penalty. It will be interesting to see if the other two members of the

Fox News "Axis of Evil" Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham are ordered to tone down their

rhetoric.

Hey there Charles, unless I am misunderstanding this aspect of the law, all of the Discovery from the Dominion case will be shared with Smartmatic..That along with what they are putting together and provided they go to trial may very well shut the whole repugnant org down..Which would zipper closed the mouths of traitors Hannity and Ingraham..Then all we have to do is wait to wake up one morning and read the news of the muggings gone bad..

Thanks, Steve, for this superbly cogent, extensive analysis of the Tucker monster.

PLEASE MAKE A TRANSCRIPT OF THIS BRILLIANT TALK AVAILABLE a.s.a.p.

By the way, Rolling Stone also has a great summary of Carlson and the break-up:

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/tucker-carlson-fox-news-end-relationship-1234722551/

I love how RStone writers, like our Steve Schmidt, don't mince words about the evil, the lies, the lack of integrity of deranged characters like Tucker Carlson.

Delicious irony about Carlson: we can now say that the not-at-all "great" (actually atrocious) Great Replacement theorist HAS BEEN REPLACED.

I am fully expecting Jack Smith to startle the world. Not only are indictments for Trump going to come out of this, but expect indictments for Jordan, Perry, MTG, and others as well. Do not be surprised to see one for Tucker Carlson as well, for inciting insurrection. Or something like that. Merrick Garland will be a national hero. Jack Smith will kick ass and take names.

Or not.

To make it clear, I think that Jack Smith is going to be Mueller - times 100. I think it is crazy to think that these people are 100% isolated, but they know what is being written out here - on Substack and such. You think Merrick Garland has not contemplated whether fascism is taking a hold in America?

I think it is going to be swift and unannounced when they arrest the players. Not sure who all is going to be involved, but I strongly suspect there will be charges of treason. No joke. I think they're going to go big.

Yes, good riddance *ucker Carlson! We can never undo the damage he's done, though.

Perfectly stated!

While I celebrate his leaving, my sense is FOX cut him because of things he said about management and less for his vile remarks. He will likely show up elsewhere, probably on NewsMax or some podcast.

Carlson's exit is related to the discrimination lawsuit filed by Abby Grossberg, the producer fired by the network last month, the people said. Read everything you can on POS Carlson.

Someone had to take the fall.

Perhaps CNN? Zaslov and Licht could use his ratings draw and income. Suddenly score is CNN 1, Fox 0.

Will Tucker join Trump for a TNT ticket? Or partner up with despicable Ron DeSantis? He can be trusted to find some arena to spout his hate.

WHAT?!! Great news but someone just as bad is waiting in the wings, no doubt .

I'd like to think Fox News and the Murdochs learned a lesson about truth telling an reporting. However, I have my doubts even with the parting of ways with Tucker Carlson. As an old dog myself, I would not say learning is impossible. No, I learn things every day. Unfortunately though, they are the same things I learned yesterday, just re-aquired knowledge. And yes, I am amazed all over again as if learning something new each and every time.

Sorry Charles, but the Murdochs are all about the money. The don’t care about anything but padding their own largess. They have no morals, ethics, or respect when it comes to money. The are not patriots and they don’t give a shit about democracy or civil rights.

As of this past weekend, it is my understanding that Fox was still running promos for Carlson's show. So, whatever happened had to have occurred fairly suddenly, I think. As well, I can't help but think that there is MUCH more that we don't know about what Carlson said "behind the scenes" about the election lies. Either he was trashing the network (and indirectly, his own show) for giving the lies oxygen or, he was screeching about how they needed to do more to bury the truth. Hopefully, more details come out.

I am sure we will know more in the next sixty days.

My money is on that producer Abby Grossman. She sued them on a Friday in March and they countersued her the following Monday and then dropped it the next day. Those guys don't do that f they aren't presented with a "credible threat." So they countersue and her lawyer presents them a file of evidence about how Tucky's show is the "frathouse" rumors say it is, coupled with proof Tucky can't keep his "mushroom" in his pants. And they say "keep it up and we amend the suit with this, and you get smacked harder in the Dominion suit. You drop him and this never happens." Remember, those guys ALWAYS get canned over there for sexual "misadventure." Ailes, O'Lielly, the bunch. Occam's razor: the simplest explanation that fits the facts is likely right.

The thing about Tucker that always bemused me was his ability to lie by insinuation. He often did not outright SAY his lies, he suggested them (along the lines of asking a dumb question and then saying "The American People want to know.") He developed a trust from his viewers so that they assumed that there was something in the comment that they DID want to know.

One high point of this technique was his first "defense" of Putin. Did Putin mistreat dogs? Did he ever try to fire ME? And all the puppies watching would think "Makes sense. Putin has never come after ME."

There was often the funny little twist, the "well, there might be an exception." Trump is a master of this, from his ride down the escalator--Mexico is sending us the very worst (said over and over in different descriptions of worst-ness) and after the dog has sat up and barked at the whistle, adding "and some I am sure are very nice people."

I've always thought of this as the art of implausible deniability.

What an exciting day! Tucker is out and so is Don Lemon! Hurrah for the people with decent, healthy senses! Ole’!

Expand full comment

I suspect the main reason Fox kicked ol' Tucker to the curb was that they told him he could no longer

spew his nonsense without having facts to back it up. They are already on the hook for $787 million

with potentially more in the future with the Smartmatic trial ($2 billion + is the number I read that

Smartmatic is asking for). I doubt they'll get it but the possibility has to have Fox scared. Carlson is not

about to work under those conditions. He'll end up landing on his feet. I'm going to tune into Fox

News tonight to see what they say; no doubt some bland statement.
