“No American should ever face intimidation because they want to practice citizenship. Trump’s obsession with Swift, and his campaign’s malice towards her is thuggish and un-American. Make no mistake, it is aimed at stifling Swift, taking her voice away and silencing her with threats of retaliation.”

Trump and his minions just met their match. Have you ever met a Swifty? My niece is one. They are more stalker than devoted fan. And they are extremely devoted!

Trump may have the MAGA mob, but they have just awoken the 800 pound gorilla. Expect retribution to be Swift; no pun intended. Okay, pun intended.

Expect Taylor to galvanize her base against Trump. Although, given what we know about Swift detractors, the response will be brutal, and may just help Biden gain some much needed support with the 18 year old teenagers, and 20 something’s ahead of the election.

That said, Swift alone can’t change the outcome of the election. Biden needs to get in front of every issue and play offense. He needs to put Trump on the defense, making him defend every policy; or lack thereof.

Time is of the essence, and I hope Biden visits the border in Texas soon. Let’s see Abbott deny Biden entry to the area Abbott refused to allow Border Patrol? I dare him!

Bottom line; Biden and the senate need to release the immigration bill; use the spectacle at the border to his advantage, and force the republicans to defend why the new immigration bill is bad for America.

Biden won’t win over the MAGA vote, but there are a lot of registered voters who never vote and independents that he can reach, which could make all the difference. It’s time to fight fire with fire!....:)

My 22 year old granddaughter went to 2 Taylor Swifter concerts last year. She has been a fan for as long as I can remember. As I sat with her and she was showing the pictures she had taken at the Cleveland event, great seats, she talked through what the experience was like for her. I marveled at her sparkling eyes and animated face, how much fun pored out as she walked me through the images and explanations of the experience. Bad move by MAGA, huge.

The Swifties have it right. They’re found a role model with values and empathy outside the steaming cauldron of American Divisive-ism and celebrate among themselves joy, and wonder and hope. Trump knows that happy people are antithetical to his brand. He needs mobs to rile, otherwise he brings nothing; a sad cruel ogre of insignificant vision who’s only cause is himself

Now his addled brain becomes focused on destroying Hope and Joy. MAGA exists to destroy and oppress. He cannot compete with a real human

We’ll said, Dave. Killing joy in music is one of the most damaging aspects of t-rump’s assault on the American soul. We must not let this tyrant tear apart our common bond of music.

Excellent work and analysis of the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift. I’m not familiar with her music but there is something impressive about her and the fact that the MAGA cult obsesses over her popularity is on brand. She endorsed Biden and Harris in 2020 but at this point she is merely encouraging young people (women) to register to vote. Republicans should watch out for women voting, since so much of their agenda is geared to stifle women.

One of the multitude of things I have detested about Trump when he was president was the utter disdain for all the glorious things that have to do with being cultured and sophisticated and appreciative of great music and the fabulously talented musicians that have brought such joy to this country. …4 years of never attending The Kennedy Center honors…no music in the White House. He is such a detestable clod.

It's quite simple, really: there is no way for a rational person to NOT love Taylor Swift. On the other hand, there is no way for any but the insane, the poorly-educated, the con man's "marks" to love Donald Trump. And, since "love conquers all…..": adios, Donnie!

It’s just convoluted !

Agreed, but not just Trump. All of his minions are lining up in chorus. MTG just last week basically demanding Haley get on board or else. Laura Ingrahm on Fox a few years ago telling Lebron to "shut up and dribble". This is their version of telling Taylor to "shut up and sing". Funny, and also not surprising, I don't remember any of them telling Mike Lindell to "Shut up and sell pillows" or Wall Street CEOs who support Trump to "shut up and invest". The blatant hypocrisy is bewildering.

Just when you think the subjugated slaves of depravity MAGA cannot get any lower they really really try harder to perform. On the other hand it’s always been love and the love of the faithful of righteousness (that’s you folks), that prevail. The faithful of love will conquer the evil of sin. Remember the mustard seed parable? This is why Taylor Swift is a powerful threat. She demonstrates her strength through love and her faithful fans will remain to do the same. Evil cannot penetrate this. If we stand together committed through righteousness in justice and love We All Can save the country from the grips of evil MAGA. We truly can. Let’s pay attention to things we Can Do now that we know HOW. There is no bottom to MAGA and their faithful will flee. There is no ceiling to love and it gathers more strength as We Rise. Stick with the real winners.

Steve: "Please understand this next point. If this can happen to Taylor Swift it can happen to ANYONE in America. This is the point." Agreed! Wasn't it MLK who said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."? It's a slippery slope and people indifferent to this need to take a pause and then wake up.

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan (I know, apologies, just not my type of music), but appreciate her talent and right to say and endorse (or not) whoever she wants to. IMO, those with a microphone have an opportunity to reach out and have positive (or sadly, negative) effects. Funny how the Rs want corporations to be "individuals" as far as speech and donations, but balk at someone like Taylor Swift or Colin Kapernick speaking out. Hypocrisy much? SMH.

I am with you Steve, I believe in the American spirit as having a moral compass. I believe Trump's vision for America is being the terror of the world, like the Soviet Union mold of the Cold War Era. Trump should have studied history instead of trying to rewrite it. If he wasn't so obtuse, he would realize the Soviet Union fell because they were so busy trying to keep up in an arms race that they sacrificed their societal well-being and fell for a star wars myth.

We do not need to be the terror of the world to be a great nation. We do not have to be the world police to be a great nation. However, we do have to engage with the world and promote democracy around the world. We need to be the counter balance to all the dictatorships around the world. We need to stand strong and support nations that are being threatened by bad actors like Putin, Kim, Xi and the regime in Iran. America is a great nation, not because we are feared but because we have a Constitution of laws that guarantees human rights.

I don't think Putin, Kim, or Xi or whomever it is in Iran these days is as big a psych case as Trump. The guy is completely out in left field. None of those people want to deal with him. They don't respect him at all. It's not only that he's created a cult and taking it to the edge, the shame is that America isn't doing more to move him out.

He is completely unfit for office and everyone can see it. He's not playing by the usual rules of the game - he's created his own game that's an alternate reality. That's why it is impossible for a sane person to wrap their mind around his actions and words.

He has fomented the segment of our society which includes domestic terrorism. We've always had domestic terrorists from John Wilkes Booth to Timothy McVeigh and many people in between and since. The difference is that their beliefs and actions haven't been promoted by the very person who is supposed to uphold the constitution and law of the land. They feel justified by his legitimacy as a former president. And he keeps repeating it all across the country. Everyday.

A lot to unpack here.

Jeanine states the numbers, 17% v. 18%, cancel out any impact of a Swift endorsement. "Don't do it" is a threat wrapped in a false narrative when, in reality it's a non-starter.

So why go after her now? Is it the Swift magic of economic impact? The man she's dating? Not the stereotypical "cheerleader"? Is she too smart? Too pretty? Too kind? Too rich? Too popular? Too bold? Maybe she's too successful and she doesn't know her place.

To much yadayadayada?

I am stunned whenever a female reporter degrades/schools another woman on behalf of, at the behest of, and to protect the ego of a man.

Seems the one thing a Republican man trusts a women to do is demean the women, actual or fictional, they target.

You know, there is something about that Janine Shapiro that truly sickens me. She needs to close her trap. They all do. Taylor Swift represents decency, independence, fun, hope, strength, joy - all the things they can’t stand. She is a true American patriot and I hope she keeps doing what she does and doesn’t let these frightened little nothings on trump news get to her. She makes me proud. As a mom of 5, I congratulate her parents for raising such a courageous and authentic young woman. Thank goodness we still have Americans like her amongst us!
