Yesterday was a huge victory for the rule of law in America, and this indictment will have positive impacts for democracy in our country and with our democratic allies around the world for years to come. Future presidents will think twice before commiting illegal acts knowing they could be held accountable. Whatever the outcome of the case, this indictment is cause for celebration for those fighting to protect democracy and freedom against autocracy and corruption. There will be ups and downs, but we must stay the course, free of fear and with courage and hope. Legal experts with relevant experience see this case as a slam dunk. Whatever happens next, though, yesterday was a lasting victory for democracy.
Please recall Trump’s own words: “I am an innocent man” which in fact he is until proven guilty in a court of law. That is the foundation of our legal system. While many of us are tempted to reject that notion as we are so disgusted with Trump’s behavior, we cannot fall into that trap until the indictments proceed to a trial by a jury of his peers who will render a decision about his guilt or innocence. Whether Judge Cannon (that choice was in my opinion very faulty) will continue to preside over the deliberations is at this time unknown. We must once again wait for the wheels of Justice and possibly appeals to turn. I believe and trust in Jack Smith to get the job done in time. The waiting will be painful no doubt. “We’re in this together”...Joyce Vance I believe!
Yes, let's all please share this video with others as much as we possibly can. I noticed that Steve is up to 88k followers on youtube. It is possible that some of his videos will go viral and get into the social-media algorithms. Steve Schmidt can 'take it to MAGA' like no other!
The other night Joyce raised a point regarding punishment if Trump were to be convicted - namely, that he probably wouldn't serve a prison term due to complications of his Secret Service protection. Couldn't Congress revoke Secret Service protection for anyone convicted of a felony? (To include any convicted family members who were entitled to protection.)
Your key comments: avarice, power and cowardice. The last is the worst. Until someone beyond Romney is willing to stand up and call out the Emperor has no Clothes,we will be in a perilous position.
The most interesting thing is who is silent, and who is speaking. Those at the greatest risk are speaking. The rest of Congress is silent. Let's see how this proceeds.
Am hoping Garland will hold a presser some time soon.
After listening to Jack Smith's announcement today, I felt a sense of calm and excitement all at the same time. I was left with the feeling that the process has been in competent hands and will continue to be despite the judge roadblock that has been thrown up. Excitement because the American people, hopefully, will be permitted to watch the live court room proceedings and witness the best and the brightest regarding the law in action. The wheels of justice turn slow, much like a car wreck in slow-motion. We are all the looky-loos who will get a front row seat as we roll past the carnage at 5 mph for a closer look, but police and EMS will be on the scene, picking up the pieces and working to clean up the mess, opening the road for normal traffic to flow again.
I'm fairly sure I’m remembering that either Joyce Vance or Andrew Weissman said on MSNBC’s primetime indictment cover on June 7, that Judge Aileen Cannon is unlikely to hear this massive case given her string of previous bungles and her ridiculous appointment of a Special Master. The name she made for herself the first go-round was thumbs down all around.
Add to the need for a judge who will understand that the trial of a former president on charges of espionage and its related crimes must be on TV.
Whoa! Does the Left finally have the right to yell "rigged" or what? 'Of all the gin joints . . .'. Though the curious serpentine legal slitherings ending up in the court most to be desired, most to be appreciated by all of Magadom may have jurisprudential rational, real America will stand dumfounded, noses high and sniffing hard turned towards Denmark. They already have nasal overload from the daily stenches coming from the rotting Supreme Court. No matter the legal bonafides, the optics are too glaucous, too neon to avoid and will prevail. Though putting Trump at the mercy of his most prominent sycophant may eventually fail, it's gives Trump his second best gift . . .delay, delay, delay.

Absolutely a masterpiece message. Every school in America should play this video repeatedly. Phenomenal. Thank you Steve. Wow

Thanks, Lisa!
Thank you!
Steve
Aileen Cannon?! This is a cruel joke.
Judge Aileen M. Cannon will preside over the arraignment ???? Not happy about that. Doesn't sound right to me!
OMG - yes, Aileen Cannon assigned to this??? This is not good.
Joyce Vance has said they can reassign a judge when looks like one leans overly in one direction. Think she (cannon) fits that bill.

Looks like when they fall there is no bottom. Like Trump, Russian Ruble and Putin war in Ukraine are still falling and falling lower.
Are we there yet??
Judge Cannon will find some way to dismiss the indictment. It won't last on appeal, but all hell is going to break lose if/when she does so.
And, I won't be happy until Trump's wearing a jumpsuit that matches his hair colour.............
