Over the last few days I’ve been in Tokyo, one of the world’s most fascinating cities. It is an overwhelming place. There is truly no other city like it on Earth. I’ll be writing some more about it, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share some pics with all of you…
One of my favorite cities! I love the culture ... I was in Japan for 3 weeks in 2018, and I saw 1 piece of litter during the entire time! Love the pics ... will be interested in your observations.
Amazing pics. Especially like the Sensoji Temple, built in 645.
I can imagine Trump looking at the picture and saying, "I hope the builder stiffed his contractors. If he didn't, he's a fool!"
That's right: in Trump's world, anyone who DOESN'T stiff his contractors; DOESN'T go Chapter 11 to get out of paying people; DOESN'T use every trick in the book to get out of paying taxes; DOESN'T do the same to get out of serving in the military (and is a "sucker" or a "loser" if he does serve); DOESN'T come up with phony universities and charitable foundations for the sole purpose of lining his own pockets — in Trump's world, anyone who DOESN'T do any of those things is the "idiot", the "loser"!
Which is why, if nothing else, Trump poses such an existential threat to this country, because can you imagine a country surviving if MILLIONS of its citizens have that same worldview?
Enjoy the sushi & sashimi, and ramen, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, yakitori (often available on the street), whiskey and so much more amazing food and drink.
An amazing city! It is the only city in which I have ever felt intimidated, despite its cleanliness and friendly people. It is massive, exotic, alluring, sophisticated and overwhelming. I was in the fish market one early morning, during which there was, by California's standard, a massive earthquake. A long, good rolling earthquake. People stopped talking, but no one ran or even looked remotely concerned. Within seconds after the quake, life resumed as before. A city after my own heart. Can't wait to return. Enjoy, Steve. And please eat heartily for me! (The sakes are amazing, by the way. Try them all!)
Well, well, well, Welcome to the neighborhood Steve. I have lived in this great city for decades. Always tell my friends and siblings from New York that Tokyo is the most civilized cosmopolitan city on the planet.
You even made it to Golden Gai!
Bravo!
Look forward to forthcoming articles from your stay here.
When you get a bit overwhelmed from eating Japanese food everyday, go to Elio Locanda in Hanzomon for the best Southern Italian cuisine in the country.
Wow! Incredible! Can’t wait to read your observations-the pics are fantastic. Thank you sir-
Beautiful! Cherry blossom photo especially!

Beautiful pics, beautiful city.
Thanks for sharing, I am a ‘virtual’ traveler and appreciate those that do travel with pictures.
Continued safe travels. Pictures are great
Gorgeous, not only are you a talented writer. Your photography is stunning.
You should publish a coffee table book (do they still make those? lol).
Hope you are having fun....looks interesting
Thanks Steve. Sometimes the only thing we need... is beauty.
Now I want a panda in my coffee too!
Thank you for sharing those beautiful photos.
