I believe we are witnessing a secular Armageddon, a war between evil people whose goal is to keep the vast majority of the world's wealth in the hands of an international privileged class while ordinary people across the globe live in poverty if not penury, used as a resource by the rich and granted no human rights and Democratic Socialists who want wealth distributed evenly enough among the world's population to ensure all a decent standard of living. That does not mean the advantages associated with capitalism would be eliminated. There must be some incentive, in the form of higher pay, in order to encourage those with talent and ambition to pursue careers in medicine, engineering and other such technical areas and for all workers to do their best. But such basics as housing, education at all levels, and health care for all should be guaranteed so that human resources are fully developed.
Currently, the government of the United States is fighting on the side of evil. It is imperative that on 11/3 we elect people who will fight for the well-being of the world population. Although this does not require we give up our pride in our nation or special obligations to it, it does mean many Americans would have to give up some of their luxuries and live a simpler life. The fate of the world hangs in the balance.
The problem is that the cold war and the USSR gave most Americans their views and knowledge of what " socialism " is. When in fact the USSR was not even in the same ball park of socialism ( they were communist and their own brand of communism to boot ) .
Most Americans don't know the difference between the two. Socialism isn't anti commerce, anti trade or wanting to crush your rights. IMO socialism is a limit on just how far capitalism can go. And, that's a good thing IMO,. Look at our current state of affairs. Five media companies control the air waves in the USA, Amazon crushes small businesses, Walmart employs the working poor who are on state aid. The rich pay next to nothing or in most cases no taxes. The Paramount skydance merger. Etc, etc, etc. All this while healthcare, education, owning a home, a comfortable retirement are all out of reach for 80% of us. In 2026 in the USA there is no bread and there are no roses unless you're a Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg or an orange imbecile sitting in the White House.
Socialism doesn't prohibit you from being rich. Socialism just wants you to pay your fair share. We're all in this together. We need to work together to shoulder the burden as that will improve things for all of us, the rich included.
The Constitution's Preamble is all about taking care of each other. The Socialist business is a red herring, IMHO, offered up by the rabid Right. Don't fall for it. It is for us to take back the word Democracy, just as we must take back the flag. It's our turn to define what Democracy looks like.
The right in our country today is accurately described as "rabid." The lies and blame-shifting, ignorance, and prejudices in the American right today are beyond astonishing, as evidenced in this exchange between Lara Trump and Leavitt:
LARA TRUMP: “When you look at the top issue among voters right now, it seems to be the cost of living. So what steps have been taken by the White House to really address that? Because that’s going to be important as we head towards November.”
KAROLINE LEAVITT: “Yeah. Well, the president and the White House, we fully recognize that. And I would remind your viewers and the American people of who caused the affordability crisis in this country. It was Joe Biden and it was the Democrats in this city when they were in power. President Trump took immediate action to fix that starting on day one. All of these things that President Trump is doing will only get better if given two more years with a Republican Congress."
I’m comforted by so many good people like you sir who love animals as much as humans & protect them. My dog Rocky is the only daily contact I need to keep going. The dessert is my daughter & grandson who have to go out & deal with all people. I’m grateful for my retirement & my grocery store H-E-B which I don’t post about because Texas is getting crowded with people from all over the country. One of the issues we deal with here other than our criminal state governor & his administration destroying our public school system for the taxes we happily pay to educate our children. In a good school district the taxes are so high that many families can’t buy even a simple house now. I just had to share this because living in a red state means we don’t receive a fair share of the taxes we pay into our community.

The national debt is now almost $40T(yes that’s a T) which is 120% of GDP(that’s not good) and it’s now laughable and completely hypocritical that the “conservative GOP” is the party of fiscal responsibility as they have claimed in the past. It was Bush in 2008. During his first term Cheeto increased the national debt by 25% and he’s at it again but this time even worse. WE the People as an electorate bought the lies that Cheeto…who wanted to stay out of jail…. and his fascist allies pushed during 2024.
What WE have is a second edition of spendthrift Cheeto and a “forever war” in Iran; expensive vanity projects; massive military and Gestapo spending for “domestic needs to combat terrorism” around ICE/deportation under the guise of national security; DOJ funding for “ego driven” judicial unjustified retribution and defending illegal executive orders. In the end the taxpayer is being defrauded by a psychopath who uses the federal government as his personal bank account.
Now JP Morgan has put out a policy paper saying that there are 2 threats to the economy, debt and de-population(bit.ly/4wqNVqL). The first is obvious from the above but the second is of concern due to Cheeto’s immigration policy. The national birth rate is 1.5 per couple and WE will soon run out of labor to meet the country’s needs. So it makes no sense to attack immigrant community with deportation when they are willing to do jobs that the white Christian Nationalist doesn’t want to do.
A bit of a diversion, but I’d like to know the breed of Mabel. We are fostering one that looks at least half like her. We know there’s shitzu, but the other half is a big important question mark. Thanks? 🙏
