In the latest edition of "The Schmidt Storm,” I answer your questions on the future of the White House press room, the fate of MSNBC, and what John McCain would think of all of it:
It is extremely important for Everyone who wants to save Democracy and Unite to become active in the fight! The reason we are here is because so many good people sat out the fight. For Evil to prevail is for good people to stand by and do nothing.
Steve, thank you for the piece on Chuck Schumer and the piece on Lindsey Graham. For years I have told friends that Schumer is a gas bag. He poses with his eyeglasses at half-mast down his nose, poised as some aging sage or prophet. Schumer is in it for the theater; not for the substance. Graham is the epitome of an old Southern belle in a man's skin. And, yes, Graham fits the "p" word perfectly. South Carolina should be ashamed of Graham and ashamed of South Carolina.
John McCain neither bowed nor cowed before any man. Say what one might about Senator McCain, good or bad, he had guts and grit. That Trump mocked John McCain was beyond reprehensible and disgraceful. But sadly, decency and dignity have been forfeited to the indecent and the indignant. At 80 years old, I believe I have been blessed by having lived the very best years of our country. That fact saddens me and sorrows me immensely, because when I was a twenty-one-year-old U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant I saw a nation burgeoning with greatness. Over time that greatness has diminished; diminished at the hands of men, mostly men, serving themselves and not the people they were elected to represent. Years ago, I read M. Scott Peck’s book “People of the Lie”. We are littered with liars, cowards and men of the “p” word. When one has no spine, the bully always wins.
As a fellow Jersyan, I SO appreciate this video. Thanks for keeping it bottom line and real the way we do. The pack of "P######" descending on DC is a grotesque insult to all the brave highly qualified men and women who ever served our country since its inception to make us what we are (were) today.
As I've said before, I'm glad my father, a veteran who served overseas in WW II, is not here to see this. Now it's my turn to step up to the plate.
There are plenty of words that more than replace the “p” word: sycophant, lap dog, ass kisser, bootlicker, brown noser, lackey, and my personal favorite ….lickspittle. And for Lindsey Graham in particular this… Lindsey “Light in his loafers” Graham.
We can take back our schools since they’re local. We can run for local school boards on a save democracy platform and keep democracy alive via our schools.
Three photographs should be included in any definition of pussy. Pussy, noun, informal, weak, subservient individual willing to give up his principles and integrity to a bully with no thought about the general harm he is doing. Examples: insert photos of Graham, Cruz, and Rubio.
Some well-known group or individual needs to call for and organize national strikes as soon as Trump exercises extra-constitutional powers and/or works with his cabinet and congressional majority to enact foreign and domestic policies designed to re-make our country using Orban's Hungary as the model.
The hardships ordinary Americans will inevitably face should facilitate this endeavor as well as other protests, marches, sit-ins etc.
Our current population seems to lack the energy of historical reform movements like abolitionists, muckrakers, NAWSA (dedicated to gaining the right to vote for women), civil rights leaders of the 1950's and 60's, anti-war protesters like SDS and others. Perhaps we have become lazy and entitled, often unaware that the progressive legislation of the past is what has improved life for so many. How ignorant are the people who say "Keep the federal government's hands off my Medicare," or love the ACA but hate Obamacare? We may need the shock of Trump's administration and its implementation of Project 2025 to renew the needed energy. Leaders from the progressive wing of the Democratic should lead the way: Swallwee, Schiff, A.O.C., Katie Porter, Warren et. Al.
I agree that the Dems need new leadership. I have written my Dem Senator urging him to do something about their leadership. Any suggestions who should take the reins? Another thought that has been irritating me is this: I am not ashamed of Kamala’s campaign. I think she and Gov Walz tried very hard to win. There has been tons of criticism of what she did or did not say. Hindsight has its advantages. A campaign issue that is extremely important to me and many, many others is the awful attacks on women’s rights and women’s healthcare waged by 45 and co. Since the election, I have heard next to nothing about women’s health care issues, or lack thereof. Why the silence on this? I know the country is in a really dark place but women are going to continue to suffer and die. Does anyone care? It almost seems like, because Kamala talked about this a lot, it was the wrong thing to do. My friends and I cannot understand why the MAGA women care so little about their sisters. Sorry, had to unload. This is bothering me a lot.
Once again, thank you for enabling us to read the transcript. I absorb the written word more easily than audio. And thank you for YOU. You always stand firm in honesty, integrity, and true American values. And your gift of gab is unparalleled. No one better! Thanks, Steve.
Will we be really losing much if cable or network news outlets are not allowed in the WH press briefings? Questions are never answered or simple spun. He’ll be speaking in his silo to his tribe. I simple love The Schmidt Storm!
Refuse to look at x, not a fan of that jerk running it. Nothing of interest there when I have looked over the past few months. No need for antisocial posts.

Right On, Vince, and Thank You for your service. I'm looking up the S. Peck book now.

Well, unfortunately, the keys to the car were handed over to Aggrieved White Guys and Deranged Harpies.

Pussy riot time!

Agree, waiting for this, but who will it be?

Swalwell
A strong R Senate woman? Time for a coalition of strong Senatorial Women. Call them the Pussy Riot Senators (PRS’s)! If not now, when?
Stay strong by associating with like others, not alone. Speak up but don't kamikazi. The size of resistance is key.

Great post! You are an extraordinary visionary.
Ok, this episode made me laugh out loud. “Whack Pack…” and the other reference. 😆 omg.
Seriously, I’ve never heard that word used so much until 2016…anyway, good episode. And yes, Schumer has to go!
Well said. Now, what can 'we' do to effect a change in Senate leadership? This idea seems like an appropriate place to start the real resistance.

Yes, we will be losing CHOICE.
