Great but depressing commentary for a Saturday morning. Hope you're enjoying your London trip Steve. I was just reading on another Substack that the new administration is having trouble finding countries to take the immigrants they want to deport. Many are saying FU. What's next? Gas ovens? It's beginning folks. Stay strong. 💔🇺🇸💙

Yes, we students of 20th century history absolutely know what happened.

This is the beginning (and continuation) of the FINANCIAL RAPE of America and the world by the Trump Crime family. Musk and Ramaswamy will have NO trouble sticking it to the average American ALL THE WHILE giving more and more and more tax breaks and tax loopholes and tax give aways to the BILLIONAIRES (with the support of the Republican Grifters in Congress)! (Wouldn't it be nice to see them say - First we BILLIONAIRES have to get our own house in order and show the rest of America we get it. We will tax ourselves and pay OUR share and bring down the deficit greatly by taxing ourselves. Yea, that will NEVER happen! It will ALWAYS be someone else's fault.) Eric Trump is already on his way overseas to continue the Trump Crime family FINANCIAL RAPE of the world any and every way they can. The Trump Crime Syndicate "GRIFTERS ARE US" and screw the rest of you! And the people who voted for this Crime family are going to pay through the nose for their support of the biggest GRIFTER in the world, along with his administration of GRIFTERS! American's are seething and it will not be long before the chickens come home to rooster on these GRIFTERS as EVERYONE sees and feels their very lives and income being stripped from them by these Wealthy GOONS and THUGS!!!

You are so right. Republican lawmakers have already begun planning to make the fat cats even fatter by passing laws enabling them to make money from the government, money from taxes we ordinary people pay, by requiring the government to buy "bitcoins." As you read this, keep in mind that Trump's family launched a cryptocurrency venture 9/17/24, World Liberty Financial, which will be able to "legally" scam the American public:

"Chris Hayes broke down a plan by Republican legislators to transfer billions of dollars of taxpayer money to owners of Bitcoin in exchange for their holdings. At issue is a bill introduced by Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) that, if enacted, would require the U.S. Treasury to buy one million Bitcoins over five years and be held for at least 20 years. As of Friday night, Bitcoin was trading at $100,000, which means purchasing that many Bitcoins at that rate would cost $100 billion.

Hayes began Friday’s edition of All In on MSNBC with a monologue noting that Republican lawmakers’ campaigns received a windfall of money from crypto evangelists who are now looking to cash in on their successful bet. Come January, the GOP will control both houses of Congress and the White House. President-elect Donald Trump previously called cryptocurrency a 'scam,' but has now embraced the asset."

I think Kash Patel is a greater danger than Tulsi Gabbard. But then we are getting into degree of danger. I was in government for three decades and never dreamed I’d be sitting here assessing the danger of people nominated to the most important positions we have. Thank you, once again, Chump Voters.

The “clown car” of cabinet members (as you put it, Steven) is frightening. I believe we’re entering into the “abyss”. Mayday mayday, our Democracy is going down. Trump’s crew of “Mr. Mayhem” (Steve Bannon), Stephen Miller, among others have been posturing for along time. It feels like Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Two-face, and all the other “Batman villains” are positioning themselves accordingly. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a “Batman” in sight.

The entire world will pay for the malfeasance bound to come out of a Trump administration with cabinet and agency heads chosen by a man who is out only for himself, is incompetent and corrupt; and whose first priority is that those he chooses are willing to do whatever Lord Trump asks.

Sometimes I don’t like you Steve, probably because what you post scares me - and I hate being scared by men - but the more I read and listen to your positions the more I know you’re right. And I (we) should be scared.

Let’s not forget krazy eyes Kash Patel, who will literally go out and get every one of Trump’s “enemies from within”. I think musk a hand in this plan he is a little smarter than trump and just evil.

Excellent, as always.

Steve stay safe and thank you.

Trump’s presidency for Burma means the democracy winter is settling in. They just rearrested the senior monk U Pyinya Zawta in Rangoon, he is one of the leaders of the Saffron Revolution. They left him alone until this moment, but even before Trump’s inauguration, the military generals in Burma are emboldened once again to act ruthlessly.

Welcome to the Trump’s world of brutality and ruthlessness.

I translated for this monk 15 years ago https://youtu.be/_0swaSs5I1w?si=3KCenAaQetHhGwkV

UPZ is the older monk. The video mixed up the names.

Can anyone tell me if there are any laws in the federal government against nepotism? This incoming administration will likely resume its family monarchy status.

Expand full comment

Apparently, as Steve said, there are no laws against nepotism, certainly not in regard to a president's nominees to his cabinet. And with Republicans like "Tommy" Tuberville in the Senate who do not understand the role of the Senate in "advising" and "consenting" to these nominees, in other words conducting hearings concerning their qualifications, we will be faced with a cabinet full of crazy, drunk, incompetent ass-kissers.

Expand full comment

When Tommy arrived at the Senate, he was unsure of the three branches of government. We’re in this sad position because the poorly educated are electing the poorly educated.

The term is "kakistocracy."

That is what we have now. I’m not even including the new Administration, which will be here soon enough. I’m looking at the people in our highest legislative body — when you have Tommy Tuberville, Markwayne Mullin, Marsha Blackburn, Katie Britt, to name a few — you have society’s least brightest at the highest level. It is how a country destroys itself.

I never heard that one, but is is all too credible!

In an Alabama Daily News interview after his election, Tuberville said that the European theater of World War II was fought "to free Europe of socialism" and that the three branches of the U.S. federal government were "the House, the Senate, and the Executive.”

tuberville is such a moron. and his constituents are just as moronic.

How is it possible that a man who knows nothing about Nazism or WWII can be sitting in the Senate of the United States. OK, the people who voted for him have to be as ignorant as he is, but why hasn't he been expelled by a 2/3 vote of his fellow senators? What the hell is happening in our country?

I dont agree with you about Gov Newsom ( and im a resident ) He's trying to fool proof the State and join in with Oregon and Washington Listen to his recent press conferences and you will see he's implementing programs for the future of our State He's gotten good reviews on his climate programs He's had some success with the homeless problems

tRump will gladly use acting appointment positions where ever he can to put the most despicable people he can find without a senate hearing in government positions and keep them in place for as long as possible to do all his bidding.....Anything to circumvent the system to his advantage to increase his grift and hold on power without any restrictions or consequences. And his cabinet selections that are totally bonkers, that he knows most likely won't fly, are just a smokescreen for people just as unfit to slide in behind the wretched first round choices.

Great Q&A! I have a question with foreign policy. What do you think about the drones flying over your home state? China? Russia? Ours? Odd the pentagon says they don’t know. I can’t help but re,more your remarks four years ago when you said that America is most vulnerable throughout the time period of the presidential transition. Is China getting scrappy… making a move?
