In the latest edition of "The Schmidt Storm,” I answer your questions about the CEOs attending Trump's inauguration, how Democrats can stop the confirmation hearings, and how Joe Biden's presidency will be remembered:The Warning with Steve Schmidt is a reader-supported publication.
They are statements from Steve that are difficult hear but I believe he's spot on regarding these democrats. I've voted Democratic since 1972 and watched the party dither and fail time after time. We're gonna lose every time if they continue to appease these people. And yes, I'm out of patience and I want democrats to practice what the Republican Party has done for decades - it's time to go low and give them a shit sandwich. Apologies for the profanity...
There was always a prolific enemy party that pushed against anything that was from the opposing party, truth be told they all funded horseshit wars, that did run up the debt but opposition and laws made up as we went along were to block everything together they got a ⅔ majority that has been nearly unobtainable to overcome it was to stop filibusters. Well it stopped a functional Congress.
Steve, I do not think I am nuts for believing Biden accomplished a great deal. My view of his presidency is objective; he presided over an administration that fought climate change, kept inflation well below other industrial nations, passed a significant infrastructure bill, and got us out of Afghanistan. Losses during the retreat from a failed war are inevitable.
You seem obsessed with Biden's failure to decide not to run earlier so that there could have been real primaries and an open DNC from which a more suitable candidate may have emerged. However, you enthusiastically and rightly supported Harris' campaign. Certainly, those who would have gained by a second Biden presidency, including his family, put their interests ahead of the nation's. No doubt, defeating Trump was in the best interests of the nation. However, it follows logically, that Joe Biden was not capable of making a rational decision about running and his legacy will be positive.
It is not his fault Trump won. That fault lies with the American people. The information, although it could be hard to find due to the failure of the media, was out there. All of us were aware of his unsuitability to president and the danger he represented.
There are many people in the Democratic party who meet the standards you cite to lead resistance to Trump. Let's start talking about how we can encourage them to do just that.
Exactly. Steve needs to get a grip on his hate and bitterness and move forward. We need suggestions to resist Trump who was supported by Republicans and create a stronger Blue wave.
Steve, you’re only partially right that dishonesty did the Democrats in. When both parties are dishonest, the amount of dishonesty can cease to matter. A little dishonest seems like a little pregnant. Yet differentiating between a conman and run of the mill face saving politics should be distinguishable to citizens. The problem is we’re not producing citizens in most of our schools as corruption has ended authentic education.
I wish you’d look into education, the hollowed-out pillar upholding democracy, and listen to the teacher whistleblowers at WhiteChalkCrime.com who can help people understand how we ended up stupid enough to elect a con man to solve our problems when con men only solve their own problems. This was a failure of intelligence and values that needs explanation and repair to move forward. Writing off choosing a con man as understandable is not problem solving. You must look deeper - into how people became so lost.
The author of "Presidents and the People" quotes Lincoln as saying that reverence for the law and the Constitution must be America's secular religion and not occasioned by impassioned ecstasy.
I only commented to help Steve's algorithm result. I suggest there should be nearly as many commenters as there are viewers - even if only "good" or "thank you". (Even "You're stupid!" will help!)
STEVE, I appreciate your honesty and straightforward views and I do agree that Biden made a mistake in thinking that he could be president again at his age - but the rest of the Democratic leadership should have also realized that and made the big push to convince him before he became the candidate and
hold primaries to see who would be the candidate for 2024 - and I disagree that Biden‘s presidency should only be defined by Trump winning the election - Joe Biden accomplished many good things with a very small majority in the Senate and a minority in the house - and he inherited a total fucked up mess from Trump‘s first administration - even though Biden and the Democrats got the candidate wrong early on - the candidate they put up against Trump nearly won and would’ve won if she hadn’t been a black woman!! in my mind that has as much to do with it as anything. In addition, you failed to mention that FAUX news, MAGA mushrooms, the racists, the white nationalists voted him in along with a lot of Democrats, who didn’t show up to the polls when they were needed most - so let’s give credit and blame where it’s due
Remember Covid? If you don’t you’re an alien. He spearheaded the vaccine programs (you will be hearing from JFK sicko it’s a Jewish Laser invention) but it’s the best science could do under tremendous pressure and stopped the Trump newest Holocaust for all. That is his legacy! I can’t forget Trumps lethargic attitude. Do you fools remember the refrigerator semi trailers full of the dead? That could have gone on forever now it will be status quo. It couldn’t have continued but now the new one best not come in the next four years. Biden saved us by taking it seriously!!!
Bush wasn't great, so we got a liberal, inexperienced Obama. Biden was a disaster, so we got lying, indecent sociopathic imbecile Trump.
Re the oligarchs. In Tudor England, the king and the lords had a symbiotic relationship. If war was coming, it was the lords who supplied the troops. Trump seems to want to have a similar type of relationship with his "lords". And those folks seem fine with that. Unfortunately, as in 1530 England, we peasants may wind up on the short end of the stick.
I believe Medicaid will be the first thing to go and the serfs who both voted for MAGA and rely on Medicaid will be howling. They did not pay attention or were too saddled in their animosities to realize they voted against their own preservation.

The year I was in the 7th grade the schools were being desegregated! Lots of tension in the generation of post WW2 baby boomers!

I agree with every word, Steve. What I found is when I point out Biden’s dishonesty to us supporters about running in 2024, I get the same kind of pushback from Biden fans as I do from Trump fans. Heaven forbid you say a negative word about either of their men. That fandom thing, as you correctly call it, will do us in and already has.
“Fandom” is the first step to being worshipful and that’s the first step to Idolization!
We must not constantly criticize or constantly

I think highly of Biden because we both deeply

I wonder how differently our world would be if had been fortunate enough to have had a few more Women National leader sprinkled into
It's good to call out the failures when they cause the fall of doom on democracy. Pride comes before a fall...It's part of the healing of the trauma of this fall from grace in the face of stupidity of the age--part and package of our past actions-- reaping what we've sown because we've cast on stony ground. Time to dig the heels in and resist this takeover. I really like Steve's rallying call to the House and Senate to fight with every tool they have to stop these nominations. Hope they listen to this warning.
I had not thought about the fandom thing before Steve mentioned it, but it is good to recognize it for what it is and how much it can damage a democracy.
Steve talks here about Dem failure to coordinate their message. I was frustrated that every Democrat on a stage did not have behind him or her a gigantic graph showing the distribution of wealth in the country. Every speech should begin with, “Look at this graph and tell me you don’t understand why working people are pissed off? Then look at our opponent’s platform and tell me you don’t understand why their perennial policies have brought us here, and will make it worse if we elect them again.
If you don’t understand, let me explain. Etc.
Steve: Democrats claim to be for the working class, but are too timid to offend the rich for fear of losing campaign funds and being called socialists. In my view Elizabeth Warren is the clear-eyed one and the challenge is to get really good at her kind of message. What do you think?
As I look at members of the Democratic Party I see any number of very gifted, qualified, and articulate people who could run, or could have run, for high office. My list includes Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Jamie Raskin, AOC, Hakeem Jeffries... there are more. Could it be that the campaign game is so distasteful and requires such extreme fundraising, that these people remain content where they are?
Steve, You are so right about Schumer. He is long past his expiration date. He is no genius. He is a below average senator due to his substandard communication skills and lack of strategic and creative thinking. He is missing the fire in the belly that is necessary to win.
Biden is gone. His legacy will suffer. He did a lot of things right but unfortunately, all the good will be abbreviated because his vanity and delusion will end up costing us exponentially more. That said that said can we move on from Biden? Can we start taking down names of the democrats who capitulate? And I agree they will most certainly capitulate because they have not learned a damn thing. Then we can figure out how we can get those assholes out.
I am a Democratic PC in Texas. I do all the shit work that PC’s do. All the crap that is not fun but needs to be done. The Democratic Party in Texas is not gut punched and flat on its back like the national Democratic Party. It is in ICU and flatlining trying to elect a new state party chair.
My hope is that your future posts will provide us the ideas, the words, the direction that ordinary people like myself can use to get people to think, organize and eventually deliver fit candidates who can win.
I too would like to win in 2028 but my greatest fear is that there will be no more voting. He has everything he needs right now to do away with any truth coming through the media, not that the rubes believe the truth, and he can make the machines susceptible to false numbers with all the tech giants on his side. Also, It truly bewilders me the bemoaning of the price of eggs when 3 of the people I know who definitely voted T all got the new iphone 16s last year and get their nails done every two weeks. Bet that doesn't cost $10 a pop. Wah! The price of eggs!

In Mr. Schmidt's last essay, he praised George Bush. I don't ever want to hear that family praised for ANYTHING! Here below is the truth about Georgie Bush: he snubbed Cindy Sheenan, mother of the last young man killed in Bush's war. Yep. And…it will be time for pitchforks and torches.
I suppose they'll dig those bamboo tiki torches out of the garage.
THIS makes me livid. I have a feeling it will be those who voted for Kamala that
will revolt when this happens, which it will. For Republicans, Medicaid is low hanging fruit and they think no one who”matters” will notice.
Just wait….
Medicaid will be gone for me, too, and millions of people who voted Blue...:-(
That is the truly sad part. But we will hope common sense prevails, despite how too many people vote today without any rational thinking.

We’ve got to work together towards the
Mid-terms! We must work hard on state elections! We must Evangelize.
We have always been Independent Voters and have voted for D’s and R’s but I will say that
R’s have been focusing on State partisan elections for 30 hard years!
I live in a Red State,I know!
We truly must constantly protest, write letters to the editors of local papers etc
It’s impossible to teach what we don’t know!
We must be the most factually, historically informed people in every room!
Not arrogantly so but confidently, courageously informed!
We must rouse the sleeping giant of Love of country and our fellow man!
Now see if we have the Courage of our convictions! Do we,will we!
If not Now, when??? Seriously when?! ⏳⌛️
As Joe Biden says, “You don’t just love your Country when you win”!!!! 🏆
I just a little old lady down here in SC but I want to Challenge all of us to do something simple and childishly rewarding!
Everyone of us should be able to say the Gettysburg address!
How about let’s make this fun and fruitful!?
If Trump can have Rallies why can’t we?
I don’t mean with a lot of showy stupidity but
why can’t we have enthusiastic gatherings and celebrate our country and each other!
How about if I kick it off!
I have been known to organize a few successful gatherings!
Our weather gets pretty nice in SC by April
and we also usually have our first Strawberries
About then!
I’m not joking ! Love y’all !❣️🇺🇸⚖️🗽
