Steve, thank you for the courage you have for warning us about what is really going on. I am heartsick about what MTG has done and I truly think she wants to destroy Joe Biden and his family. She would be the person to dance on their graves. I pray every day for Justice and that the American people will see the truth and save our democracy.

I spend way too many hours tweeting in defense of Biden and calling out the b**** who would destroy him. Sadly, I don’t have the appropriate checkmark on Twitter where her venom is in display every time I look at the app. I get no response. It’s a waste of time there. Twitter is absolutely not bipartisan. It’s a set up for the MAGATS. And they are loving it. Anyone aware of a better place to debate with her? Suppose my simple citizen class will only make a difference with my ballot and not likely then. Disheartened; but we have time yet. Hope!

I just posted the video on Threads. I have a Twitter account, but I think Elon has strafed Twitter of its most important elements. Steve is right. The cruelty and depravity are the point. The rottenest people in Congress spend all their time attacking and demoralizing President Biden and his recovering son. MTG is beyond the pale and so is McCarthy for allowing her to run rampant. It’s beyond sick. I live in a red northern Arizona town where the community stupidity and venality are breathtaking. It makes me feel helpless, especially because No Labels has obtained ballot access in AZ.

Julie, join your local Indivisible group. Google the Indivisible website for information. I am in a Phoenix area group and we, along with others in the state are working to register young/new voters in AZ. Mobilizing and working together we can elect better local/state/national candidates that will win.

I’m a member of Prescott Indivisible as we speak and also a member of The Union. The Arizona Union faction is also doing a voter registration drive on campuses. And that’s great, but we also need a way to provide policy information and messaging to young potential voters. I lived in Scottsdale for 30 years and have been a high school teacher my entire career. There is a dearth of knowledge in all voter groups, especially younger voters.

Thank you SO MUCH for what you're doing to register more voters!

I wish we were able to do that in NH.

I LOVE NH! There is nothing like a lobster roll from The Beach Plum. It’s a beautiful state. We are all in this together.

I agree. The worse part is acknowledging that a significant portion of our citizens are no different. No turning that ship!

From a voting citizen of SC, surely we can find in our few Democratic cohorts a man/woman to replace this no longer relevant “eager beaver” power hungry MAGAT when his term expires. It should be a priority in this blood red GOP state. Jamie Harrison wiped the floor with Graham in debate but the MAGATS did not care. Jaime was eloquent, professional, honest, a man for the people. Clear as could be. Yet defeated badly simply because Graham is in with the IN CROWD in DC. His time is over. 🥲

Graham’s current term ends in 2027. God help us.

I'm for term limits for Congress. If the President has term limits, so should Congress.

I suggest 3 two year term in the House and 2 six year terms in the Senate.

They're always referring to the Founding Fathers, but their idea was to serve and go home.

Expand full comment

Again, absolutely. Founding fathers envisioned legislators as a service not a career!

Expand full comment

Exactly. Your term limits are perfect. Let’s write letters to, well, doubt Congress would act; Supreme Court Corrupt.

President would not want to be involved. Who do we approach with such grand ideas? Need to think on that.

Unfortunately, just like trying to get big money out of our elections, it's something Congress has to vote for, so, probably, not a snowballs chance in hell that it will happen!

After reading the comments m, I have a possibility silly question: instead of worry about responding to Twitter, consider doing something to help Get out the Vote or registering voters. At this moment I am writing postcards for Activate America to GOTV to vote NO in Ohio on Issue 1. My postcards were late arriving so I am writing as fast as I can. There are phone banks that need to be staffed. Or text banks There are election in 2023 including my state Virginia. Please consider working with The Union, Indivisible(already mentioned ) Field Team 6. Find your local League if Women Voters and offer to help register voters.

Yes social media has its place, but positive action can move mountains.

It's so pathetic and terrifying when people like L. Graham dehumanize people like Hunter Biden, who has a troubled and traumatic history. All of us that have suffered significant loss understand what that can do to a person and their family. It takes love and understanding to emerge from the abyss. Instead Lindsey G. spews black bile and hatred. And what for? So that he can be relevant. It doesn't matter who gets trampled, who gets crushed or who gets killed. He is a vile human being, the worst of the worst. He needs to be made irrelevant. By Us. Vote him out. Make his nightmare of irrelevance come true.

Excellent, gutsy commentary from a straight shooter and a true American patriot. Lindsey Graham lost whatever sense of patriotism and ethics he had when his friend and mentor John McCain died. He is a now nothing more than a caricature of the corrupt, slimy, and unethical career politician that we all have come to know all too well these days.

Lindsey Graham and other MAGA adherents are addicted to the good opinion of the chronically misinformed. He and others in his party have an urgent need to express toxic opposition to their Democratic opponents regardless of facts or truth. If they fail to adhere to inane opposition inspired by weird news they risk destruction by those supporters addicted to misinformation. It is a complex problem.

Expand full comment

Unfortunately, the MAGA Republicans have found out how easy it is to get their supporters to believe all of their lies! I think THEY are the real "groomers"!

Yes, it a like-minded community, based in part on delusional beliefs and they appear willing to punish or renounce those who stray. Politicians who stray risk losing office and maybe worse, including assault.

Yay, Steve. Spent some time today saying to myself over and over, “Steve, where are you.” I’ll find something else to worry about now.

I personally would be much prouder of Hunter Biden . He has made plenty of mistakes but has overcome many with the loving support (not interference) of his family.

On the other hand you have Tfg offsprings that have never had to fend for themselves because of daddy. Think their ———- doesn’t smell.

As for Lindsey he is just another opportunist looking to be something he isn’t and can never be again. A decent human that puts country first. , a nothing man. Spineless, hole in the wind.

Steve invited us to reflect on the heroism of the Normandy landing. It is also the 53rd anniversary of the first lunar landing. We went from that day, to the display of a vindictive woman’s desire to punish her party’s opponent by engaging in character assassination of his only surviving son, entering her foul vendetta into the Congressional Record. My dad used to take the fluttering copies of that publication to read on our vacations on Lake Huron. He enjoyed the formal, courteous proceedings and the speeches, some of which were quite eloquent. There was nothing like Greene then.

The American people aren’t only apathetic, more sadly, so many are uneducated. How else do you explain the voting-in of the Marjorie Taylor Greene’s, Lindsay Graham’s, Lauren Bobert’s, - and Donald Trump for that matter! The BEST among us are much too smart to enter into the dirty business of politics. It wasn’t always as dirty as it is today. This IS our downfall, - we’re right smack in the middle of it, just as Abraham Lincoln predicted. Lindsay Graham can pout all he wants to, while curled up at the feet of Donald Trump. With any luck, that’ll take place in a shared jail-cell.

Agree on the uninformed. Steve last PM there was a segment on the PBS new hour on voters in Iowa. Incredible responses Can you interview the pollster working with Judy Woodruff. She would be great for others to hear her.

I learned a new word recently... “enshitification”. It applies to so much these days but especially to our political systems such as Congress. Our Congress has been enshitified by people such as Graham and McCarthy.

I LOVE that!

As an aside, there is no reasoning with the lunatics- the cognitive dissonance is so distorted so as to make any exchange impossible. Any response to their rage baiting only fuels the venom that runs through their vessels upon which they derive their energy. Their achilles heel- laughter, cooptation of their words in service of their enemies.

Well, also, I may or may not have, in a fit of pique, challenged Merge to a cage match ...you know, for charity. Alas, she did not respond. As a former rugby player, I am not afraid of MTG.

I suspect MTG’s stunt was a retaliation to Joe’s newest campaign ad. To which I hope the father and son say, “is that all ya got? Cuz we still took you to school.” As far as suicide goes, most of us in recovery didn’t get there because we are weak willed. We got there because we are strong willed. This is often difficult for “normies” to understand. But the bottom line is, I’m hopeful Hunter is strong in his recovery and this (mostly) bounces off him. Sure, it’s embarrassing-but most of us in recovery have stories from our past that would curl your hair.

MTG is like the worst of the worst high school mean girls. Lindsey is like the guy in middle school with no friends. The cool guys treated him nice, but then high school came around and their social lives blossomed and poor Lindsey had to join forces with the mean girls and their entourage. He is an ugly on the inside, lonely, hateful opportunist, just like MTG, Matt Gaetz, the queen of hypocrisy Miss Lauren out of Colorado, and all the rest of the MAGAs. Hate begets hate, mean begets mean.

They do a real disservice to this country.

That is exactly how I’ve described MTG to my husband, who is blind. I’m fact, she reminds me of the leader of the mean girl pack from 6th grade at my school.
