After watching the first two episodes of Showtimes doc series on the Lincoln Project I couldn't help but imagine Trump winning the election and ergo, how he likely would have abused the power of the state to come after those involved in the endeavor. As for the strife that accompanied the group; it pales in comparison to the brilliant work accomplished in ejecting Cheetos Mussolini from our White House. I say Bravo Steve and thank you!

It was the Lincoln Project that first gave me hope, dissipating much of the cynicism that many of us who stood for the Constitution and rule of law were struggling with. I donated more than once. It gave me real hope that we actually had a chance to defeat the growing, home-grown menace that seemed to be inexorably ripping us from our democratic and republican (writ large) moorings. What also gave me hope was, all BS aside, a man who had an exceptional command of the English language and boundless energy, courage and conviction to fight the good fight. You don't find many folks like that who are the complete package. Thanks for doing what you did and continue to do, Steve.

As to the bad apples on the LP team, there was little you or your team could do about it until the facts came out. After they did, I think you and some who were with you displayed exceptional integrity by your subsequent actions. Regarding the series, I haven't watched it yet but will soon do so.

I joined the Lincoln Project as soon as you announced it Steve, and I donated to it every single month until Joe Biden was sworn in as president, I still donate to the LP but not as often. I spent 30+ years working on motion pictures as well as commercials so I was attuned to how effective a well put together message could be. I am proud to have been a member of what I think was the most effective messaging organization of my lifetime. This nation has been staring down the barrel of an existential crisis since the inauguration of that piece of shit in 2017, that threat has cost me long held friendships both business and personal; the wellbeing of our country is more important than life itself to me, as it has been for generation’s that preceded mine. I remain astounded by the lack of any creative solutions, to the many evolving problems we face as a nation other than the use of the word “no”, that the republicans are offering up. No one can wind back the clock to create the past, just like we can’t undo the aging process. The many problems our nation and the other countries of world face are not insurmountable, but they do require our engagement, putting our collective head in the sand will not cut it. The fact that 74 million people bought into the lies that were and are propagated by the repugnantins is demoralizing, but it’s not the reason to give up hope. The LP clarified the choices the country faces which is why it was so effective in bringing an end to the catastrophic presidency of the insipid clown. Any idea of the exceptionalism that Americans possessed, has been dashed on the rocky shores of willful ignorance, that could produce that many people to vote against their own interests. As great as our universities are, our educational system has failed to produce an educated electorate, that’s a problem that we desperately need to address, and it won’t happen over night. The first thing that we need to deal with is the lack of objective truth on the part of the media, I’m not suggesting that we all need to be in lockstep, but we all need to be heading in the same general direction, truth in the media and not spin will greatly facilitate that happening. Thank you for your part in founding the LP and helping me give voice to the outrage so many of us feel.

I loved the Lincoln Project from its very beginning. Simply genius. I had no idea of all the issues. A shame…

Your vocabulary is delicious! I prefer growing my vocabulary through contexts like yours than through crossword puzzles. And your forthright content satisfies my own need to express the insanity of the country’s politics. Thank you, Steve.

Darn, I was hoping I didn’t need to subscribe to Showtime but now I do. Keep up the faith, Steve. Your discussions with Nicole Wallace were the heartbeat behind the Lincoln Project. I’ve been a part of passion projects and startups before and understand what can happen. I’ll be interested in seeing the real story, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts here on your blog. I’m sure it is difficult for you.

The Lincoln Project was successful because it met a previously unmet need. There is a large swath of the public that has been abandoned by both political parties. We are constantly forced to choose between two evils. Right now, that is an easy choice because one of them is so much worse than the other. However, someday this group will need proper organization. If not embraced by one of the two parties, then something new. That conviction behind the LP is strong and the efforts in 2020 by you and others will eventually be recognized.

I was first introduced to you Steve because of the Lincoln Project. Along with Rick Wilson and other talented political activist. I will watch the documentary with interest.

The work that the LP put out was point on. I am sure Trump lost his second bid because of the work you guys did. Thank you Steve and all of the LP members.

Thank you, thank you, Steve. Amen. Indeed. Unique. Profound. Incredible. Priceless. Deeply moving. The real McCoy. Abe Lincoln is proud. Black Women are savvy, they Know America best. Steve is one off. A stench. Access journalism is sickening, common as bum fluff, ubiquitous, deadly, dangerous, seductive, proselytizing, prostitution, unethical, frightening, deadly, dishonest, infuriating, and just everywhere.

Thanks for keeping the faith with, Steve, if not the belief in, the Project. There are more battles ahead. Back into the breach, all!

Thank you Steve for being a driving force of the Lincoln Project and the survival of our Democracy. We as a country, would be living in a much more frightening world if not for yours and others tireless work. Truth is a powerful weapon but it is only effective when supported by facts. We need the Lincoln Project and others like it to shine a light on the hypocrisy of the Republican Party we both voted for in our past. Under DJT truth was obliviated and distorted with so many lies and outright fabrication no one knew which way was up or down. Joe Biden was not my ideal candidate but he was definitely needed to right the ship and get us back on course. In a perfect world Joe would fade away into the history books to go down as the most successful one term Presidents. However, there are few strong candidates who could replace him in the next election that will uphold our Democracy the way Joe has done so well. There are too many people on the precipice of becoming elected officials who do not believe in the American Experiment and would not stand by a fair election. My point is, keep doing the work on the Lincoln Project so our Constitution is protected from those that wish to destroy it.

Between The Circus and The Lincoln Project on Showtime, we are witnessing a critical time in our history. No doubt we will remember the democracy warriors.

I do not subscribe to Showtime and cannot respond from first hand knowledge. I can respond as a life long D married for well over 40 years to a R, now I, whose party abandoned him, to the impact LP has on the political ecosystem. I grew up ,live and wok in DC so know scandals can and do occur. With power can come potential abuse. The question I ask is, has LP remained faithful to its core mission or have the scandals overtaken it. To my mind LP remains focused on its core mission to preserve democracy . I trust their expertise. As,Steve, I trust your expertise and extraordinary depth of knowledge and as I trust Mike Madrid’s innate understanding of polling data.

Yes scandals can be reoccurring themes for certain press elements. Did the LP issues make it stronger and more focused, from what I can see as an outside observer, yes.

In addition to all that Steve said about the Lincoln Project, it was the creativity of the ads resulting from different people with different mindsets. Whenever people with different points of view get together focused on a common goal, the creative power of the Lincoln Project emerges. I will never forget seeing them and the powerful effect they had.

I’ve been following (and contributing to) The Lincoln Project since you first launched that initial ad...I’m pretty sure it was on FB. I’m so appreciative for you all, the whole lot of you...for taking that risk, and betting on the American People to step up...and we did, and still are. I’m an Army (Retired) wife of 35 years. My husband served 24+ years, and then retired in Feb 2011. His last duty assignment was as a Presidential Communications Officer with White House Comms. He served under both George W and Obama. For the entirety of our marriage, we never talked politics. Ever. I had never watched a debate until 2020, and had never donated to a political cause until LP showed up on the scene. We also never watched the news, except for AFRTS while stationed in Panama. Yes, we were living like mushrooms, and we liked it that way. He’s still a mushroom for the most part. I’d like to go back to being one myself, however the moment doesn’t call for that. Thank you for the fighting spirit and useful content. 😊☮️❤️
