My thoughts on Republican support for Nancy traveling to Taipei is, cynicism. I believe their support in her visit to the island nation may cause a severe headache for the Biden Administration. The Republican Party has little stomach for showing support for Democracy. Their only desire is power. They have no ideas, no solutions just rage and rage is never an answer for any problem.
Thanks for this, Steve. I totally agree. After 20 years of Afghanistan and Iraq, I think we became too wishy-washy with our foreign policy. Righly so, for the most part. However, it seems to have made us lose our way with dealing with bullies like Russia and China. If we don't stand up to them, they will continue to pick at us and steal our lunch money.

The United States of America has never been anything but Strong. Our Military, branches of Government, have been put to the test. Our Constitution, truly a bedrock of Democracy, Imperishable! Pelosi has been pilloried by the petty reductionists and it's time for a clear analysis of her audacious leadership. There is a great need for leaders who fearlessly stand up to the bullies who will take us all down if given a hint of weakness. Ah, and it's even a woman in her 80s!
This looks a lot like a turf war when there should be no daylight between our branches of government, my guess is that it’s staff that are causing the ruckus, they are the ones with their noses out of joint, and that the Speaker and the President are on the same page, I hope so at least.

Decades ago, my left of center political compass would’ve steered me to a default tenant of “The worlds’s a dangerous place; No need to go looking for trouble…they will come”.
However, this is where and how the tectonic plates of superpowers make contact, create friction, and a little heat. To run for the shade from that heat is willfully ceding the alpha role to malovent forces, that are -not- our equal. Let everyone remember that the statesman who lets his balls atrophy, will be eaten.
