Again you have taught me something today. Your paragraph “never again was suppose to mean that society has the ability to recognize what any of this means …it all happened as a result of belief, ideas, politics…

Thank you for your insights and keep teaching.

The only solace I felt during Black Lives movement was from the Lincoln Project commercials. From there I discovered Steve Schmidt giving his speech at the Cooper Union in NYC. Your thoughts rightfully belong in print and we greatly appreciate your tremendous efforts to share them with us. Very honored to have the privilege of reading them. Here is the classic Steve Schmidt https://youtu.be/_ZvMA7qj4WY

Thank you for allowing me to respond. The Agent of Chaos did something that probably no one else had done before, bring to light the existence in America of right extremism in the Republican Party. In the 21st century. There is a clarity about the way men treat women, from the Supreme Court extremist majority's decisions and inferred future decisions (a baffling political Supreme Court, with its own Amy Version of Womanhood and all of the life choices she brings into the formula) all the way down to the low-lying fish like Gates, sustained by a democratic system that weighs carefully how to proceed with his sex-trafficking case (good for the system, too slow for allowing at all levels the rise of autocracy in America); and Hawley's Yale-entitled little fist gestures against pluralism and sexual orientation in America, KNOWING how such gestures play against the background of an insurrection AND the lives of trans women and women in general; and Vance's loathing of American values and women, his intrusion into American politics a case study about political influence by special interests, i.e. Thiel's wealth; and Mastriano's vicious racism and anti-Semitism, made commonplace by inserting the usual family values component so entrenched in religious extremism that still can not speak truly about Love; and Greitens' "in our faces" violent ad as a choice for solving issues in America with the use of assault-style weapons and without any accountability from law-enforcement agencies, a man who like Gates treats women as porn; and all the actors and players we have seen parading in front of the 1/6 Public Hearings and behind the scenes of Trump's presidency, from the Justice Department on down to the politicians who would not impeach him once, and then again twice, all brought to their knees by the valiant testimony of Women Under Threat. All of these are complicit players in the rise of autocratic theory in America and its clear position Against Women. By their collective actions, Donald Trump, the serial NDA master of male potency above women, still rallies them to his cause WITH IMPUNITY. Donald Trump is not above woman nor the rule of law, and must never run for office again. What stands out is the clarity of how Republican extremism thought has evolved, a lot of unpatriotic men and women who DO NOT KNOW the legacy of Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, opting instead for the most despicable representative of Final Solutions in Europe to walk in freely into American soil to trash Her under everyone's noses, with his evident and "murderous" anti-Semitism and Supreme Family Values, at the bequest of a bunch of not-anymore-closeted-racists-and-misogynists. This New Republican Party Extremism has no inkling whatsoever about the difference between Trump's use of the word CARNAGE and what Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards testified before Congress and us about her experience during the ongoing Insurrection of January 6, 2021: "It was carnage."

I've always viewed Eleanor with deep admiration. I'm curious if back in the day when all this poison was brewing in Europe.....did we not have the problem in this country that we do now? Families and friends in this country in opposite camps and alienated from one another because of stupidity and alliegence to Fox News and facism. Just curious.

You are correct in accessing it to be the same old song and dance but with new faces. Fascist and Autocrats are finger pointers. They point their finger at this group or that group and say they are to blame for your troubles. They are the reason you can't get ahead in life. They are the reason for the evil in society. It is the same old blame game and the birth of Mob Justice and Lawlessness.

Keep shining a light on these cockroaches and send them scurrying back under the rocks they crawl out of.

What would it take to declare Orban persona non grata and deny him entry to the United States?

A speech by Orban with text that you have outlined will appeal to the maga crowd at CPAC. This is terrifying that this monster has been invited to speak in the USA. Our Democracy will not survive this rhetoric unless all of us condemn it openly and often until everyone realizes the danger facing us. Too many are not paying attention to what is happening.

You can’t forget what you refuse to learn. Heed that lesson. These folks aren’t rational, or reasonable.

This is very sad and frightening but should not be surprising. When people no longer value honesty and integrity placing their interests first at any cost, these are the predictable fruits. It is up to the rest of us to be “woke” and recognize them for what they are while doing everything we can to oppose their warped, cruel and un-American vision and path.

This is really impressive stuff. I love the way Hitler attacks Roosevelt as a 1 percenter. Trump can't do this obviously, but it might be really effective for a successor.

I'm happy you are fighting this scourge and writing about it. Yet those believe otherwise with Orban are so dangerous. Their faces are relatives, people we know, and the guy with one item in the supermarket line and I let him go ahead of me. I feel I can do nothing to meet the coming onslaught. I feel impotent.

I firmly believe in free speech. However we faught the most devastating war to end nazism. How do we remove this scurge from our land? Or as John Belushi says in The Blues Brothers" I hate nazis."

With writers like you Steve, I for one hope that the "sane" among us will fight hard to educate our families and others around us that we dare not rest our resistance to these horrible men and their disgusting ideals in order to help turn our futures away form the haters.
