Great commentary Steve. Vivek reminded me of the Israeli skincare guys at the mall kiosk.

I watched it, reluctantly. I would have rather watched the series Somebody, Somewhere on Max, but I've seen it twice now...so I relented. But man! What in hell has happened to us as a country that this is the best to challenge Trump...we are screwed! Christie was disappointing. Ramaswamy was terrifying. Pence seems headless as always. Nikki, I can't stand her, was probably the best up there....I was surprised. But no way she beats Orange boy. Desantis...was he there?

I was hoping that Pence would make a rare show of conscious, deliberate wit and have a black fly glued to his “hairdo” but he takes himself much too seriously to cause a clever chuckle, except by accident.

His seriousness is all fake. He tries to prop himself up to make it seem like he is so smart & strong for everyone..Has anyone seen the video of him praying..Actually you would know what he's really like....very nuts!

As much as I loathe him, Christie was the only one on the stage who flirted with respect for law and took a hesitant poke at criminal Trump. Asa and the Governor Guy on the other end were invisible. DeSanctimonius couldn’t stop referring to Harvard and the Navy Seals. Pence and Scott weren’t taking any chances on leaving Poor Old Jesus out of the conversation, as if the separation of Church and State were a nullity. Nikki doesn’t stand a chance among the He-Man Woman Haters. Vivek loves the sound of his own voice. That’s my 25 cents. If I missed anyone, it’s indicative of the impression they made.

Transcript? (please?) I was surprised to see that Nikki Hayley was the only person who acted like a normal human being and actually had a couple of reasonable answers to questions, particularly around the issue of Ukraine. (I think that though she said she is pro-life, she wasn't assuming that she had the right to make that choice for all women.)

I just happened to begin watching the documentary Robert Kennedy for President. How far political discourse has fallen in 60 years is just sad. That was not a debate but a fact free spectacle

Steve, As recommended I watched it. My brain & body revolted and I experienced an unrelenting physical reaction of pure disgust. If it weren’t for Christie and the commercial breaks I would not have made it through.

Thank you, Steve, for validating my decision not to watch - and for doing the unenviable job of sitting through it so we wouldn't have to!

EXITS AND PLAN B : The doubt/fact/ and gut-LESS ‘staged’ finitum last night (plus their MAGGOT following ) need to contemplate endings....a top floor window? poisoning? surprise plane crash? falling off a boat to drown? as that’s the clan’s termination tactics. Horsewhipping ? would have been a better debate subject -my apology to horses.

Thanks Steve.

So my plan is to highlight OUR strong points , OUR successes, OUR knowledge and follow through of programs working, the DAILY stats -those good ones going up, the bad ones coming down and the plans of OUR coalition’s focus on problems . We’ve got some plagues needing addressed...climate change: WHAT the GOV can do/will do AND what WE THE PEOPLE can willingly change ourselves to help; homelessness: what works best for this population , the answer(s)-its multifaceted - needs major collective clean-up and many direct hands on programs working in unison; laws with accountability for universal ethical expectations- evidentially we don’t have these🤦‍♀️.

I’d like to see a national poll of heads of programs LIST a what they see our 20 most critical problems everyone faces are.

The audience is the enemy. The base. We did not choose this fight, but we are in it.

They do not care something is wrong. They do no care it is cruel. They do not care it is a lie. They do not care. They are brainwashed. Anyone that opposes trump is the enemy. There is no being nice, kind, or tolerant.

“There had to be an end to slavery. Then we were fighting an enemy with whom we could not make peace. We had to destroy him.”

Ulysses S. Grant

We have to mobilize. We have to vote.

Oh you are quite right , but we HAVE to care and why the programs Biden has passed and implemented - are making a difference. That will sink in to more people. I know some, who regret their vote, see now ,with disgust , what he is. So Their numbers HAVE changed , the ‘brainwashed base ‘ IS smaller .

The convictions will affect more . Not the MAGA, you’re right on the nail there. We’ve got some time to be obvious, changes are being noticed , and some great consistent decency becomes more and more appealing, it spells peace, smells of confidence, sells long range and solid goals .

Biden is well aware of this game, that’s been his signature ability.

I hear your passion , we need that. Thanks 🫶 It makes many listen up .

I’m thoroughly convinced wise council is in the White House, the Campaign moves , the ads are well designed , the much we don’t even see behind the scenes- you got to know when to hold ‘em 😉

It’s quite obvious their council is not wise, as jail terms mount ..it’s stark evidence. It will sink slowly in . The fight is not then over. It never will be, but the public will recognize those kinds much sooner. And I strongly believe we’ll have a long period to square up rights, potential, education, quality services .

They have quite by their OWN HAND , own mistakes, given one of the best lessons WHAT NOT TO DO ....WHO NOT TO BE.

It’s rather classic, the ends of such intent have repeatedly ended badly .

History .Well. Documents.

Glad you’re with us Gary.

Yea Team 🙌

Longtime fan and new subscriber here. Honest question for Steve Schmidt: Are you disappointed with Christie's performance? (I was.) He was strangely circumspect on the subject of Trump. Since you've thematized his unique qualifications in the arena of knocking a bully on his ass, I wonder if you have a theory of why he pulled all his punches last night.

Christie wasn’t as strong as he should’ve been! Guess the disgusting audience stymied him. How ridiculous of their consistency in booing anyone who takes exception to the orange, indicted criminal! Maybe we do need a more widespread mental health program! Is there one more a cult?

What a mess. If it’s trump v Biden? It will be a worse mess when he loses. He has to be sidelined by something before it gets there.

Hard to imagine that such little people, so ignorant, have the Ego to think they can or could become the president of the U.S. That simply amazes me! They have nothing to offer, not their appearance or whatever they have said..Not Pence who is the biggest idiot, so religious, that he would never speak against his ex-pres. because he believes that he was sent by his god....even if he was hanging by rope! That is acceptable by him if he would have been killed. One should ask, What kind of god is this that they all believe exists for them? Such a Fool...They all are, even the one woman, who speaks from both sides of her mouth like Christie!

Thank you for “taking one for the team “ and watching the debate. I lasted maybe 4-5 min. Do they have someone with a sign telling the audience when to boo , when to clap. The thought that most would support Tfg no matter what is beyond me. They really have no interest in our country it’s all about power.

Excellent analysis Steve. These people have little concept of hypocrisy and reality.

Pence speaking of morals and he raises his hand for voting for Trump. He was either lying the entire time, or doesn’t know the difference. The man doesn’t even understand the Ten Commandments, never mind understand the Constitution and the his oath of office. However, when he states he had the most experience to be President, yet raised his hand for Trump; wouldn’t Trump have more experience than he does? Rhetorical question, no need to answer.

DeSatan, when asked whether he was proud of signing the 6 week abortion ban states, “I won re-election in my state by the largest margin ever, and I will defend the right of life, always.” Hello! He was re-elected before he signed the bill, and signed it in the dead of night; 12:00am, no press. So how proud could he be???? Not to mention his lies about education and crime in Florida, or removing to democratically elected District Attorneys, illegally, and not for cause; just political points.

Bikes, need not apply. His answers on global warming and others were nonsensical. But he disqualified himself by claiming Trump is innocent and also stating that Trump was the best president this country ever had. If Trump’s innocent and the the best, why do we need Vivek? Like with Pence, they both make the case for Trump.

Christie was a disappointment. He allowed Vivek to interrupt him and he really didn’t land any shots. He’s done!

Haley, wasn’t impressive, but she wasn’t as flip-floppy as usual. Either way, she’s toast. You get no points for sanity or clearing in this primary.

And honestly, the rest of the gang were so memorable, that I don’t even remember who they are, or what they said.

Yup, another shit show, and the winner of the debate is......wait for it........Trump!....:)

I only made it through the first ten minutes when it was apparent that Fox was more interested in bashing Democrats and Biden ( both the pres and Hunter, of course) than creating any meaningful discourse. The introduction/lead in to the "debates" made that perfectly clear, and I just wasn't going to hang around for any more of it.

I’m so grateful you watched ‘must see TV’ and I didn’t. Indeed, there are no fitting words for the unfit Republican Party, none. All of the rich history to this party and it’s contributions to our constitutional democracy has no more meaning in todays world. Democratic principles itself has allowed it to ‘eat its face off’. Now We the People are here to eat it’s lunch. I encourage every young person eligible to vote to register now for your lunch ticket to the next election cycle. You know what to do.
