One of your best columns. Right up there with “Do We Want Democracy Too?”

Short simple and to the savage point.

I am so proud of Jon Ossoff . I would love it if he threw his hat in the ring in 2028 . I know he has to win in November . It’s reported that the shithead is going to talk about Ossoff and Warnock stealing the election last time . Somebody do something. I want to see legacy media tell the truth for once .

Great news Mary:

Cable news networks and broadcast channels do not appear to have cleared their schedules to air President Donald Trump’s address on Thursday evening.

Trump announced on Truth Social that he would be making a primetime address to the nation at 9 p.m.

Mary Roeser's avatar

Yay!! Although I wasn't going to watch it anyway. Life is too short to waste any of it listening to a pack of lies, rants, and delusions.

Kat C. from CA's avatar

Same here, Mary! I watched the old comedy Clue & had some laughs for the evening!

Mary Roeser's avatar

I love that movie. It is hilarious. Thanks for bringing it up!!🥰🥰

Of course, they may back down under the heat of threats from the tiny orange man who is now definitely shitting in his pants:

President Trump's primetime address Thursday night is forcing TV networks to choose: Air potential 2020 election falsehoods, or risk backlash from a White House that's shown little hesitation in confronting the media.

I think most of them will cave and air it in spite of what they know is going to be non-stop lies. They can't resist the possibility that he will say something so shocking that it will set a new low water mark of insanity.

Anthony j. Santo's avatar

You are likely right; but I know you are with me in hoping they don't cave in.

Anthony j. Santo's avatar

They caved:

Trump's address will be televised on all major broadcast networks and cable news outlets. It will livestreamed on WhiteHouse.gov and on the White House's YouTube page, reported USA TODAY.

mary M keymer's avatar

So sad ....Of course I have no intention of watching any of it ..

Unfortunate. The media's appetite for TFG's lies is absurd.

Anthony j. Santo's avatar

I am happy to say, I am WRONG!!!! NBC, ABC, and CNN will not air Trump's bellowing tonight. I just found this out (7:45 pm.

I hate to admit this, but I will watch in the hopes that he does or says something so outrageous, so dangerous, that people who respect him will see the light.

I know, He already has, but who knows how far he will go tonight.

I agree, Mary! Jon Ossiff has stepped up lately, and he makes sense! He can also speak to the "average Joe"! Too many Democrats in congress talk over the people's heads; a politician's doublespeak! That is why the MAGAs attack Democrats as elitists! Examples: Schumer, Jeffries, and Kamala Harris. They have an "I am better than you are", kind of air in their voices. Ossiff, at least what I have heard from him on TV, has a more "normal" tone. BTW: One of the reasons that Trump appealed to the "crowd", was that he didn't talk like a "rich person"; he was as vulgar as the "common man".

mary M keymer's avatar

Thanks Donna .. Yep we need leaders who can capture the imagination ..

Superb post. Thank you.

The brief exchange between Ossoff and Clayton revealed volumes about both men, the latter a contemptible coward and the former a courageous patriot who's national leadership stature increases every time I see him.

"The Twilight Zone" film has a scene with a house full of adults, terrorized by an insane child.

Just like the orange crime-a-day mental midget & emotional cripple we all know.

Mateo gee's avatar

You know I think about that part of the film a lot during these times! I thought I was the only one. He had unlimited powers and everyone walked around him on eggshells. Finally a woman came along and slapped him as I recall. Still waiting for that woman....

Roemer McPhee's avatar

absolutely right

Husaria's avatar

Great comparison. I remember that episode clearly. It stuck with me because I was approximately that kid’s age. And, I remember if I tried any of the stuff he did? I would have had my ears boxed fast and furiously.

The orange imbecile POTUS has never had or been taught that lesson / fear.

Roemer McPhee's avatar

trump is 7 years old

Donna K. White's avatar

Oh, you are giving him too much credit! He acts more like a two year old, who is learning how to get his own way, by testing Mom and Dad, with temper tantrums. That is why it is called "the terrible two's"! He was a spoiled-rotten brat, who is now an adult; however, he never matured, so he is still a spoiled-rotten brat!

fred trump, another bum

By refusing to answer the question about who won the presidential election in 2020 in a straightforward and honest way, it was Clayton who created drama; it was he who was theatrical.

Jon Ossoff is a hero and the best possible Democratic nominee for president in 2028.

Mike's avatar

"Jon Ossoff is a hero and the best possible Democratic nominee for president in 2028."

As of right now, he's my guy.

Gordon Berry's avatar

My answer is "Yes: Trump lost the 2020 Presidential election, despite the cheating of his Republican cronies" that made it close.

He also lost the 2024 election - as proven by many investigations of the vote counting as adjusted by his cronies in the Republican made and owned counting machines.

He is scared because we now know the Republican method of cheating -

and we must VOTE VOTE VOTE

Mike's avatar

I have a sister-in-law who is a professional mathemetician. She maintains that TFG could not possibly have won due to all the irregularities in the results. Think about how he won all the important swing districts and states. He won every one that mattered.

We need to $hitcan the electoral college. It's not fair.

Mary Roeser's avatar

I think the GQP/MAGAT Cult is well aware that they simply cannot win unless they cheat.

Donna K. White's avatar

And yet, the elections that frump WON, were fare and legit? I don't get it? Why don't the American people see the irony? Why aren't the MSM pointing that fact out? Why don't the MSM point out the many ways that MAGA cheats: voter suppression, gerrymandering, and machines, and a POTUS crying rigged?

If the machines are the "problem", why aren't the states changing to paper? In my state, they got rid of the machines, because they went down for two hours, state wide, on Election Day, in 2016. Since then, we have had only paper ballots, and little to no problems. In fact, our state is a model for other states.

Have we ever seen so many in our government have zero good character?

Never in the history of the United States has a President and cabinet been so totally bereft of decency, honor or even basic competence. Small wonder. The current occupant learned that he could only get his way if he surrounded himself with people as shallow, ignorant and immoral as himself. The only saving grace is that I believe their ignorance, immorality and greed will hasten the collapse of their regime. On the down side, they will damage or destroy much of American’s culture and economy on their way down.

What a disgrace. trump's obsession with 2020 should be a clear sign to anyone that he is insane.

Elaine Seal's avatar

And as depressing as all this ass kissing and boot licking is, he'll get confirmed anyway because the republican party has no spine, no balls, no integrity and no moral compass.

Josette's avatar

The American people need and deserve a professional as head of national intelligence. Jay Clayton showed himself to be who he is: a weeny. A professional only at obfuscation and juvenile evasion. No doubt, he is hopeful to board the Trump gravy train and maybe get his own lavish jet and outrageous perks as reward. Jon Ossoff made him show his stuff and it wasn't pretty.

Donna K. White's avatar

We have to remember, that frump and his anti-democracy gang, want to destroy all that is good in America! That is why we have these baffoons being paraded in front of Congress! NONE of them have been qualified! ALL of them want to hurt our democracy! The MAGAs, in Congress, are afraid of a bully-baby POTUS, and the Democrats, being in the minority, are trying to do the best that they can to do their jobs! Thank God, we have Democrats like Ossoff, who are taking their "Oath of Office" seriously! We need to vote more Democrats, like Ossoff, into Congress! We must take both the House and the Senate, in November! Vote, like our democracy depends on it; because it does!

A.Gnosticthefirst's avatar

Clayton does no service to lawyers, who suffer from the (misguided) public perception that ALL lawyers are liars. His inability to utter four simple syllables provided resounding proof that his loyalty lies with Manbaby McMoron, not the Constitution.

John D.'s avatar

I used to think the Tripartite Pact of 1940 was history’s worst cowards, but these MAGA buffoons are giving it everything they have.

I watched shape. Incredible that someone seeking an office which can afford thousands of lives cannot, will not, answer a question that contradicts the sick delusions of his would be boss.

Michele White's avatar

We should have seen his election denialism coming ten years ago when he ran for president the first time. As long as the results were in his favor, then he'd "accept" the outcome. I'm sure that those companies that produce knee pads are making a killing from all the tRump sycophants.
