Tucker Carlson said last night that Chump is the Daddy that America needs because she has been a bad little girl and needs a spanking.

Whoever has voted for this crew, or plans to vote for them, has deep and serious psychological illness.

Something disturbing about his turn of phrase. Sounds like something that would come out of Epstein. Could that be a tell coming from Carlson?

I think most of the MAGA are malignant misogynists. These phrases have been the undercurrent of their message, which sadly gets support from men and women. Mark Robinson uses the word “skank” to describe women he does not agree with.

Recently, I heard that the lieutenant governor of North Carolina (who is now running for governor) believed that women should not be allowed to vote, i.e., the 19th Amendment to the Constitution should be repealed. That's the Amendment ratified in 1920 that gave women the right to vote. At first I thought this was a strange position for an individual to take. Now I found that one of the Christian Nationalist movements has members who also advocate taking this right away from women. My source is the November + December 2024 issue of Mother Jones. The article, "Bully Pulpit" was written by Kiera Butler.

We are passengers on a sinking ship. Trump is the avatar of a mass movement towards authoritarianism that is supported by millions of braindead Americans.

History doesn’t repeat itself but it sure as hell rhymes.

Expand full comment

First, history does repeat itself in places where people refuse to learn of, and from, it.

Second, there are also millions of Americans who do not support that orange traitor.

Third, many of us will blow wind into the sails, stuff rags into the holes, bail water till our fingers bleed, and paddle furiously against the wind to keep this magnificent ship afloat. And if thrown into the raging waters, grab the bow line and swim like never before to bring her to a safe shore.

I am a patriot. I love this country, and I took an oath to the Constitution of the United States many years ago, an oath I will always honor. And I don't consider America a 'sinking ship'.

Neither do i consider America a sinking ship. May I be one of the few that can easily look around me and see what good my country has done for me and my family. There are so many good things that this country gives us 24/7 yet everyone takes it for granted they cry about their taxes acting like they pay for every immigrant support out of their own pocket their anger turns to hate from subjects that have no truth. It amazes me that they blame their own circumstances on not them selves but a government. They swear on words like inflation yet don’t understand one thing about why and how inflation works. No president in history can lower the prices to food on any grocery shelf they are all privately owned rich corporations not rich politicians. We are at the face of fascism yet I believe that it’s just not you nor I that know better to vote democratic perhaps this election will show the Republicans the party is over.

Well said, Carin. I stand with you and millions of others who appreciate our country. Let's spread the word and warning, VOTE BLUE and choose to improve.

Mark Twain said that “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” I think we are, unfortunately, rhyming with the 1930’s in so many ways. There are so many, many patriots, former military and government employees who took the oath “to protect and defend our Constitution” that consider that a lifetime commitment and I pray that there are more of us, then them!

As sad and malignant as it gets, but 100 percent true when we think how many are voting this way.

Mark, I know how you feel. But it is not time to despair; it is not over yet. I read and hear more and more warnings in the MSM about the dangers of a second Trump presidency. I think he and his evil plans are finally being exposed. It will take a sound defeat to awaken the most brainwashed among his cultists. I believe it will happen. He and the filthy message he has brought into our land is going down. Believe it; work to get it done.

I found some evidence that Americans are becoming increasingly aware of Trump's true evil nature:

:

"Half the country sees former President Donald Trump as a fascist, amplifying concerns raised in recent days by Vice President Kamala Harris and past members of Trump's own administration. Far fewer in a new ABC News/Ipsos poll level the same charge against Harris.

Nearly two-thirds also say Trump often departs from the truth, again more than say so about Harris. But Harris gets more criticism than Trump for pandering for votes by promoting policies she doesn't intend to carry out -- underscoring challenges for both candidates as the fur flies in their increasingly heated presidential race.

Responding to one of the more incendiary salvos, 49% of registered voters in the national survey say Trump is a fascist, defined as "a political extremist who seeks to act as a dictator, disregards individual rights and threatens or uses force against their opponents." Fewer than half as many, 22%, see Harris as a fascist by this definition."

Anthony I’m supporting to volunteer tomorrow at Pennsylvania polls I had to take classes in order to take the position. By law we have to show our certificates it’s Monday night 8:00 none of us have our certificates we have gotten several emails to hang in there now we can go pick up our certificates by 10:00 tonight it’s about a hours drive one way. I’m so disappointed yet I’m happy that I took those classes it amazing how full proof the voting system is.I can now fully see why every judge in this country had to throw out voter fraud cases. It’s amazing how the media has not let the public know the same information I got out of those classes perhaps a few billion dollars is why

Thank you Steve, you have been steadfast in your part to educate us about the dangers of the fascist movement in America. I have heard and seen the warning signs and I am fearful but I will not give in to my fears. I have lost too much already because of my outspoken disdain for Trump. Most of my friends and half of my remaining family members are Trump supporters and have shunned me. I live in a distopian world where people turn away from each other instead of greeting one another. I am angry and hurt but my love of country still burns deeply in my soul. No matter who is elected I do not know if reconciliation is possible. I am sure I have the ability to forgive but not forget if Kamala wins. However, if Trump should win I do not know if I could or would forgive my family and friends for destroying my love of country. It is a bridge to far and I will have to look for another way to cross that river. God help us keep our country and its Constitutional form of government.

Without dissent progress would be impossible; that should be obvious to all. Equally obvious is that selfish and egocentric authoritarians throughout history, including Trump, have told their supporters that they are special and superior people whom they will protect from evil people outside of and within the country. All the faithful need do is swear absolute loyalty to the leader and give up their freedom to think for themselves. Yet, a cursory study of the people in Trump's inner circle, from Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, Rudy Giuliani, Alex Jones, Mike Flynn, Stephen Miller, Mike Lindell, John Eastman and too many more reveals, beyond a doubt, that a very dark and evil threat exists within in our society but it comes from those who, while promising to protect us, secretly seek to exploit us mercilessly. Mussolini, Hitler, and Trump are the antithesis of every grand and good impulse humanity is capable of.

Talia Lavin just wrote a book call “Wild Faith” about the Christian Right. She was also on the podcast Know Your Enemy last week. Right-wing evangelicals believe that children are born sinful, and will be condemned to eternal damnation if they are not taught to be cheerfully obedient. Parents who love their children need to beat them to make them obedient. Not hard to see where Tucker is coming from.

Fact: Trump did not win the election in 2020. Since then, he has been convicted on 34 felony counts, has lost in civil cases for massive amounts of money, is going to receive his sentence on 11/27 ( hopefully) and has the Fla., D.C. and Ga. cases yet to be tried. He has lost support since then, by his own party, many of whom are now voting Democratic. His base is dug in but we outnumber them. There are no metrics pointing to a Trump victory. None. What we can expect is a dirty, ugly period after the election like in 2020 but Biden is still our President and will keep the order. I am maintaining a positive attitude and continue to enjoy my life, every single day in the wonderful city that I live in: Charlottesville. Will be seeing a film on Halloween, featuring two of the officers on a panel discussion after the showing, who were in the Capitol on 1/6/21. Keep the faith!

One of your better posts, Steve, from my POV, of course. Sometimes the bitter criticism spills over the rim of the cup (I didn’t say vitriol because I’ve never thought it cruel). Your quoting Dorothy Thompson or even John Lewis keeps me in check. Thank you….

What will it take to get your 11 specific warnings published everywhere. Most U.S.citizens can not imagine ,never mind realize and understand how Trump’s plans will affect THEIR lives.

The words most used so far ie. “threat to Democracy” , “Autocrat” ( sounds like Bureaucrat, not a terrifying word) or even “Dictator” as in “my boss is a real dictator” do not begin to convey the unbelievable horrors of what is to come.

What will it take to get the messages and visuals needed for people to pay attention to what will really happen.? What will it take?

What will it take to make General Milley’s , General Kelly’s, and the other Admirals’ and Generals’ comments distributed to the widest possible audience?? Television, radio, and print ads, posts on social media, even billboards where they’re allowed?

These will not sway the MAGA base, but this info. In the clearest plain spoken words MUST reach the U.S. electorate.

We know the “detention facilities” ie. Prisons for people who haven’t committed any crimes; will be hellholes.

Why isn’t this being done??
