How we participate as citizens comes in so many forms. For me it is speaking up. It is not the venue one chooses to do so what is important. It is the act of participation that is important. All one needs is one or more listeners. I was graced with this happening from the beginning. All the outlets giving voice to what is a reality for the majority of citizens, voicelessness, must be protected. Must be bettered. Must be brought down to the level of those speaking and communicating and engaging. Access to Reader's Viewpoints in newspapers, magazines, journals, comes with an editorial input. I will always support free speech, for everyone wanting access to a community of listeners no matter how one writes, how well the sentences are composed, how freely the emotions fly and take over. To speak up is a right, for Americans protected by the Bill of Rights. I love the utterances, even the senseless ones, the emotional import in the few words, the curses and single word dictamens. I love them all. It is the meaning of freedom. What we must do, instead, is out the hypocrisy of those who control such outlets, where it exists. We must repudiate assaults on our personal data and privacy. We must legislate in some way the incursion in America of autocratic and plutocratic control of our free speech, whether it be domestic and, especially, foreign. We Must Protect Our Free Speech.
Thank you, Steve, for The Warning and the opportunity given me to speak up. And I especially thank the love that faces you daily in your private life. Joy to you and yours, always.
Imagine if just (6) six incoming Republican congressmen switched to independent and joined together in a caucus defined firstly by support for the constitution and secondly a conservative approach to governing.
There would then be no house majority and a coalition would be required to choose a speaker. This would not be a departure from the current situation but a recognition that we have a three party system. We have Democrats, Republicans and Fake Truthers. These last are easily self-defined:
Pandemic not serious and will be short lived..
vaccines are a government trick to control citizens..
mask mandates are a denial of freedom..
all democrats are socialists
the 2020 election was rigged..
Jan 6 riot was conventional political discourse..
Jan 6 committee is a witch hunt.
Rep Chaney has unmasked these fake Republicans but they still use the label. This has allowed house members to drift from traditional Republican to Fake Truther Republican as suits their purpose. Note that one kind of these "Republicans" entertains governing proposals while the other seeks insurrection by promoting chaos to ignite violence. There is a stark difference.
The proposed Constitution party would have significant power in this closely divided house. They can negotiate with either of the other parties for concessions in return for their support. This could mean an agreement whose principle goal is to oppose all insurrectionist actions. A first principle to deny political power to all Fake Truthers. Assuming success in this goal then moving on to bi-partisan governance.
Imagine an end to Kevin McCarthy and the clown circus he is willing to empower to gain their support.
Imagine the former president reduced to his Fake Truth support - probably 20% or so
We need to recognize who's who and label them appropriately. It is a three party world.

You properly decked Maggie Haberman... for seducing and living off of Trump, likewise MSM. Justifiably. I decked her, too, and Clyde was copied. The reaction was swift. Nothing like that type when subjected to the private email that leaves no doubt. That was the case when I questioned a famous journalist that hides his child... in Manhattan. That man is David Remnick, who cannot find the words to edit that would deal with Goldman, Sachs, the most powerful and most criminal of the major bracket underwriters... that have survived. He called and hissed. The 4th Estate is essential, but today’s 4th is part of the problem. We have idiot savants that recite fact here in Substack.. and make millions doing so. Not a word about the pain their words detail... or the pain of their primary subject. Who is better or more famous than HCR... Heather Cox Richardson is rewarded and respected and loved... but not by those trashed in the Reformation that failed... her Substack gaggle is white... I learn from Heather, but I would not send a youngster to Boston College... rather, we have 4 grandchildren at the campus where fun goes to die. Can you name it? I grew up there from 10... Hannah Arendt sailed there... it’s not an Ivy. It’s where Big Ten football was terminated, where the Rockefeller icon exited by invitation, not far from where Obama lived. His kids were educated there... for a while. Clarence Darrow and Studs Terkel thrived there... not Henry Ford... Your rolling rhetorical here enlightens and challenges and amuses.
What a holiday feast of reading! Thank you for this Steve and for all the time, energy and care you put into maintaining The Warning. I do believe it is all worth it as you grow a better educated community as well as an inspired one! You are generous in sharing your gifts and we are all grateful. We live in a special place when people like you, Steve, can speak your mind and not get tossed in jail or poisoned by those in authority. I'm thinking one of the speaking points that can be added to the long list of why we should defeat MAGA is that they would have folks such as yourself, and even myself, jailed or worse. Political writers, as well as environmental journalists across the globe have lost their very lives for speaking up in search of the truth. It's a brutal world out there, and MAGA wants to close the loop on these very shores. I'm grateful for you and the kind of righteousness that buttresses the good fight.
