Why is no one discussing charges of treason?

Dems are 'afraid' to even MENTION the word lest they be accused of 'overreaching' & 'hysterical. These are the boxes the Dems put THEMSELVES in. Biden 'the inarticulate one' never even utterred the word 'fascists'. Ever. I'm concerned about the Overton window where Dems will actually start sounding like the right...in order they think to be popular.

The Russian people revolted over a hundred years ago, overthrowing the yoke of privilege, wealth, entitlement and oppression. This happened to a degree when Gorbachev came along, to represent the people over the state. Putin has made sure this could never happen again. Keep the people hungry, drunk, apathetic, disengaged, ignorant and obedient. Rule by fear. Orban came to America to make sure Trump and his handlers knew the exact steps needed to end democracy in America and take over the media, and the courts and the government. Keep people uneducated, poor, needy, scared... and there can be no opposition to the ruler, czar, dictator... choose your own adjective. We have been taken over by the 4th Reich. Its done.

Sadly, I've been saying this too. It sounds defeatist but let's not fool ourselves. We need to appreciate our position before we can successfully fight back. We need people in the streets before they finalize the budget on 3/7 and vote on it on 3/14. Make the authoritarians tell us they're cutting entitlements to enrich themselves. We have to get loud. Literally.

I’m asking everyday why this evil monster can get away with what he is doing. He should have been destroyed years ago.

Agreed. I'm realizing a lot of my fellow Americans are terrible judges of character.

Absolutely right you are, Betty. Trump is a clinical malignant narcissistic, homicidal psychopath whose externalizes his evil, mentally pathological mind onto the world, wreaking deleterious effects on the physical and mental health and happiness of all of us. We sane and rational humans did not sign up to be his never-ending personal group therapy session.

“ This is techno fascism. It is here, and it is evil.”. This is a coup. This is what happens when a persons character, grandiose megalomaniac desires, and illegal behavior are ignored. We let the fox into the hen house.

“ According to the US Constitution, a president who defies the constitution can primarily be charged through impeachment for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors," not directly through criminal prosecution, as the prevailing legal opinion is that a sitting president has immunity from criminal charges for official acts, although this is a complex and debated topic with no definitive Supreme Court ruling on the matter; "dereliction of duty" is often used as a political argument during impeachment proceedings but is not a specific legal charge. ”. Trump and those who want a second American

Revolution learned from the last failed coup, bought Supreme Court Justices and enough of Congress to protect this President from impeachment . I am not sure what can happen until the people hopefully can vote again in 2 years, but that assumes we can have fair elections in 2 years, I am not sure what the answer is to this horror that we are all watching, but I have to remain hopeful that the American people will fight back.

They may allow elections in the same way russia has elections. I'm not inciting anything but I fear this will get bloody. If you have time, go listen to George Conway explains it all on the Bulwark. It's bleak.

That was slightly depressing. Fox news is our culprit. And, Reagan ushering in the anti-government attitude that blossomed under the GOP. 1980: The so-called Moral Majority was created and now they have taken over the GOP. Nothing moral about them, never was.

I had breakfast with a group of retired men today. None of them understood the disaster unfolding at Treasury. As I tried to explain it to them, I could see they weren't getting it. Nothing around them had changed. One of them thought that what Musk was doing was needed. One of them thought the whole system should be pulled down. They all have great lives seeing shows, eating out travelling. They couldn't be bothered. Not one was seeing the danger. They all worked hard in there careers and earned retirements. Then as I was eating an egg sandwich, I realized how entitled we all were. I knew I was lucky to be having that egg sandwich given the circumstances, but they didn't quite get it.

I also went over to my senators local office today with a group of people. As I stood there and listened to the aide tell us that that what is happening now took years to put in place, I became really angry. I have watched this unfold over the years, as money was made speech, corporations were given the rights of humans and the pre-clearance section of the voting rights act was nullified. It wasn't the aide' fault, but we're drowning and he is describing the water. He heard us and I was grateful, but I didn't walk away feeling hopeful.

It's on us now. There is no one left. With any luck we will wake up and get into the streets. Otherwise we can dig a grave for the rule of law.

Like the Trumpster said in front of a boisterously supporting crowd: “I love the uneducated “. This was followed by huge applause and cheers. This country has failed our grownups who either never learned or forgot our civics and the bloody history this country went through to give us our liberties. Musk should be drawn and quartered. Trump, Vance and our current House Speaker should be put on a leaking rowboat in the Louisiana swamps where the Speaker grew up.

Alas fear not! We will have 77 yr. old Chuck Schumer, bless his heart, yelling 'we will win!". As it crumbles around him cause he did nothing. I feel humiliated watching him.

Schumer is 74. He was born in 1950. I always felt that Schumer was born an 80 year old but that’s his affection. In human years he is 74.

His exact age isn't really the point. His complete failure and inability to be anything close to effective as minority leader in the Senate is the concern. But, yes, we should try to be accurate as much as possible, but not focus on the wrong thing.

We are in the streets! Tiktok is literally flooded with enraged citizens protesting in every city, but not one media channel is reporting on it. NOT ONE.

We need our own sources of resistance information. It's important for the momentum of the movement, too know what is happening, to connect it and to unite is in common cause. Maybe Meidas Touch could have a daily column about where uprisings are happening?

Keep calling the Senators and Congress, especially the Republicans. While one or a few will do no good a mass of callers from their States might , but that may be too hopeful because I fear they are of a Cult like mind.

Unfortunately, in the glowing red state of Texas, my two senators, John Cornyn and Ted Cruz along with my Representative, Keith Self have been indoctrinated into the Trump cult and are actively suckling at his sphincter muscle (apologies for the crude analogy). In the summer of 1994, with school out, my teaching done, I jumped at a chance to attend a book signing at Kepler’s in Menlo Park. Professor Ronald Takaki was signing his new book “A Different Mirror:A History of Multicultural America.” It was a rewarding experience. I was teaching Latino farmworker kids in Fresno County and wanted to empower them to recognize that their stories were as valid as mine. Now, sadly, that short-lived moment to celebrate our kaleidoscopic historical narrative is being smashed and replaced with the black and white world of Pleasantville in the guise of a dystopian horror.
