I’m sensing that many folks just want to knuckle under, hide for four years .. come out of their cave and life will be good again… I’m sorry good people … I’m with Steve .. we need to fight like hell, at every intersection, at every corner … in the past few days we have heard a couple of times the orange asshole “was just bluffing” .. when he goes unchallenged the offenses just get bigger .. he is a bully, this is how bully’s work .. ask your kids .. bully’s that go unchecked just get worse. C’mon people .. let’s get going

As a teenager, I was not big nor popular. In the 8th grade I had to make a scary decision to not be bullied. I learned that standing up worked better than slinking away

bullies are cowards alone but only empowered when they unite with their “peers” and suddenly the ‘angry mob’

can intimidate and victimize. Call these peope out at every opportunity. The overwhelmingly right wing propaganda

complex heretofore generalized as “the media” has sought to normalize the literal insanity of this terrorist for years

now. It’s no time to be silent.

10-4 Gene! I have been looking for a group to join in setting up a bus trip to DC (5 hrs away)on Jan 18th to walk in the protest The People's March. So far with no avail. Right here (in next post) is what we NEED!

Totally agree Gene. Do you or Steve have any suggestions of what we can specifically do? Groups to join to constructively not knuckle under The Bully in Chief? Calling Schumer’s office urging opposition to dangerous nominees, yes , but what else?

Trump has been forced to take two steps back, not just one. He didn't get Sen. Rick Scott, who was eliminated after the first round after receiving the least votes, in the Senate leadership race and then Matt Gaetz was hounded out of the AG pick like a wounded puppy.

Yes, lions destroying these moronic cabinet picks/Project 2025 must be the strategy now.

Expand full comment

Except most of the Project 2025 people are qualified to do their jobs, and don’t have the baggage of his initial clown car and freak show. It will be difficult to get them excluded, especially all the ones who served in his first cabinet like Miller, Vought, and Ratcliffe. And many like Miller, and his FCC Chair don’t need senate approval.

Bottom line: they’ll have the votes, and it will be business as usual. So how exactly do we fight these guys daily, when they already have the courts in their corner? It feels like checkmate: damned if we do, damned if we don’t.

Each and every one of his picks will be destructive forces to our government .. I would love it if your pieces were read by millions.

Steve, we had to euthanize my beautiful golden service dog Hero on Saturday. I thought about how you shared your recent personal loss with all of us. I get we need to fight, but in the end, he will get the same Nazi’s and yes men anyway; even more competent than this cast of characters ever could be.

My fear is we missing what’s actually taking place: SCOTUS! If Alito, Thomas and possibly Robert’s retire by the midterms, we’ll have a fascist court for the next forty years. Imagine a bench filled with Aileen Cannons. Not to mention, Trump will appoint close to 230 more federal judges, which could tip all the Circuit Courts to “solid” republican as well. Forget abortion rights!

Additionally, with judge shopping, it won’t matter what party has Congress or the Executive, they could stop any legislation out of Congress and the Oval, dead in its tracks.

So what our plan to combat the lawless Supreme Court? Democrats even caved to get District Court nominations through, leaving 7 open Circuit Court seats for Trump to fill. We’re are getting completely annihilated in the judiciary. Schumer is a clown, and needs to be deposed: End of story!

Expand full comment

Robert, I know how unlikely this seems but I am hoping that Trump's incompetence, corruption, and unAmerican goals in domestic and foreign policy will become so obvious by the midterm elections that Democrats will win large enough majorities in the House and Senate, hopefully with the help of enough sane Republicans, to impeach and convict Alito and Thomas. The Senate could refuse to confirm any Trump nominees, likely all of them, that are manifesly unfit to be SCOTUS justices. Dreaming on, we will elect a progressive Democrat, my pick is Katie Porter, as president in 2028. To quote John Lennon, "You may say I'm a dreamer but I am not the only one," from "Imagine."

Anthony, I wish you are right. However, they can make voting difficult. Look how unlimited money in politics has affected politics so far! Musk spent over $100 million, engaged in illegal voter registrations and lottery’s and did so with impunity. The courts even ruled in his favor. And now, the Republican courts will continue to erode voter rights, and will get away with it.

In PA, Casey lost be .02% of the vote. Republicans were successful getting lots of votes thrown out by the courts. Do you think Casey would have lost if all the disinformation campaigns were illegal? Russia was doing more damage this election than in 2016, and the MSM remained silent. On social media, the guardrails were lifted and disinformation flowed freely. X became Fox on steroids. This election was stolen because of it. Don’t listen to all the noise, because I meet people daily who didn’t know what was going on, and I live in Miami; not exactly red America.

Unfortunately, it’s about to get worse, with a far more complicit and oblivious MSM, who will continue to distract us, while making excuses for Trump, and ignore the shenanigans of SCOTUS! IMHO!

I have to keep hoping and not give in to despair. I must acknowledge, however, that I fear mankind's weaknesses outweigh his strengths and it seems evil, because it will do anything to achieve its goals, tends to triumph. I take solace in the fact that I have lived most of my life and times have been, overall, good. I feel bad for future generations and wonder how long it will take for mankind to end life on earth. But some nagging optimism always keeps me going, as the overall trajectory of history has shown progress, but then, I am seeing that from the standpoint of a person who grew up in the lower middle class of an affluent society, was educated in good public schools and the State University of NY at Albany, and enjoyed a career as a public high school teacher, solidly middle class The most realistic way to approach life today is to live in the moment, day by day, and hope for the best.

If you look at the Senate map for 2026, you will see the true fantasy of your thinking. More GOP seats are being defended, but they are all in red states, with few - if any - opportunities for flipping. This is why the losses this year were so critical. And the reality is that the Right is more aggressive and effective at suppressing votes than Democrats are at protecting and expanding them. This is where the Trump court appointments will be particularly damaging, as they exercise their power, as designed.

Expand full comment

Does this mean we shouldn't continue to resist and hope that even in red states awareness will grow of the harm the Trump administration is bound to inflict on the general population and our traditional allies?

Trump’s nominees are pricks not picks. I have always thought that, at least, we live in interesting times. It is hard to predict what this crisis in American history will lead to. I sense growing resistance to Trump as it becomes obvious that his pricks are chosen to pursue revenge against those who brought legitimate cases against him, like Jack Smith, Fanni Willis, and innumerable political leaders and journalists on his “enemies list.” Also, his choice of Vought as head of OMB, who actually participated in Project 2025 (in fact, he wrote an entire chapter in this book of horrors), is strong evidence that he means to fulfill the goals of that disastrous program. A great majority of Americans disagree with the goals outlined in this project, which include, the establishment of a "Christian" Nationalist state imposing "Christian morality" on all of us. I hope a strong Democrat populist leader emerges to call for national strikes, marches, and demonstrations against the unAmerican system Trump is trying to impose on all of us.

National strikes are an excellent idea. And people can strike at home. Bring the nation to a standstill to oppose Trump. If there are no visible demonstrations , Trump won’t be able to use the military to shoot civilians.

Anyone who examines hegseth’s own written words in three books will immediately recognize that he is a dangerous

man with radical christo-nationalist intentions and a philosophy that should instantly disqualify him by all rational

determined “enemies” whom he defines as “the left” at large. The more important focus in any debate on this extremist

should be his zealotry and literal threat against citizens of the United States. Please read and share this:
