I would like to send these thoughts to a group called Moms For Liberty. They recently met with Chump and it was a love fest.

Moms For Liberty of North Carolina endorsed Mark Robinson for Governor. This is a man who thinks their daughters should stay in the kitchen and not be allowed to vote.

I should also point out that Moms For Liberty is a school advocacy group. I don’t think the Moms were schooled about September 1, 1939 or other historical atrocities.

We get what we deserve when we allow the barbarians to take control.

This is a sick group of women whether it be from poor parenting; church brainwashing; a sexual deviance; or a combination of all three. Sadly, they are creating a new generation of sick children, save a few. The sad part is that Trump has duped them into believing that he is a Christian. It's positively ridiculous — we all know that he's an Atheist.

One of their own, Michele Morrow, is running for Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of North Carolina. If elected, she will have complete control of the public school system in this state. She suffers from one or all of the maladies you mentioned, in addition to being a QAnon conspiracist. I am doing what I can to say no to her, but she has an excellent chance of getting elected. You can only do so much if enough people want someone like her to run the schools here.

Send me the name of the person running against her, and I will donate.

Here it is — and thank you!

Thank you for that information. I just signed up & donated to him. This is the kind of campaign I want to support. It's SO important to fight this group at every level that we can. Their message is pernicious and they are loud. ALL of us have to fight this wherever it is, whether it is in our own state or another state.

Thank you! I have donated to Mo as well. He is an excellent administrator. A graduate of Duke — this state is lucky to have him if people can turn away from the darkness and nihilism that Michele Morrow represents.

It's my pleasure!

I just donated, too! Thank you for pointing out this crucial race.

Thanks. I feel like this election should be a no brainer, but unfortunately it is not. There is an effort in North Carolina that has homeschoolers and charter school businesses attempting to undermine public schools. Michele Morrow is their front person. A lot of dark money is pouring in for her.

Thanks John, I just sent Mo a donation from here in California.

Saying trump is an Atheist implies a thoughtful, academic thought process regarding the existence or non-existence of a deity. I assure you that no such process has ever occurred in this mans mind. Like everything he does his relationship to religion or a deity is purely transactional.

Expand full comment

My thought exactly. There’s nothing wrong with atheists, but there is plenty wrong with an amoral, lying, self-serving grifter like trump.

Expand full comment

Bruce, Even though all of us here know that Trump is too stupid to be able to decide/contemplate intellectually if there is one deity or not, I can assure you that as one who does know that there is a First Source and Center of all of all things and beings, I can see that Trump is definitely the antithesis of the Divine personality.

Truth, beauty, and goodness and not part of his immoral consciousness.

From the Universal Creator who inhabits eternity there has gone forth the supreme mandate, “Be you perfect, even as I am perfect.”

That sure doesn't sound like a Trumpian aspiration to me!

Of course I was being rhetorical. What you reflect on, in Buddhism, is called Buddha nature and we all share it. It is a question of how obscured it is by cognitive and emotional obscurations in this relative existence. A few thousand more Kalpas of births and deaths in the 6 realms (a Kulpa is let’s say a million years) and he may be ready for another human birth. 🤣

I have no idea what kind of faith Trump follows if any. But I am an atheist and have been for decades. And I know many atheists who are very concerned about the future of this country and are doing their utmost to save us from Trump and Project 2025

I agree that Trump is a Potemkin Christian who sanctifies only himself. But he is a nihilist, not an atheist who worships only at the altar of reason, evidence, logic, fact and objective reality.

In my opinion, he is both. One cannot go without the other. I didn't know how broad we were going with this subhuman.

Moms For Liberty. Perfect example of an Orwellian organization.

We’re literally deep in the muck of these Orwellian groups and they want power. Here is one that is endorsing Michele Morrow: The Carolina Teachers Alliance. Well, take a look at their website. I honestly have no idea what they do for public education. They seem like a Fifth Column intent on undermining teachers.

I read about Georgia's Superintendent of Public Instruction, Michelle Morrow. Are people in NC aware that she, "expressed support in 2020 for the televised execution of former President Barack Obama and suggested killing then-President-elect Joe Biden"?

Anyone from NC not aware of how awful she is should read the article I got the above quote from, https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/14/politics/kfile-gop-nominee-north-carolina-public-schools-michele-morrow-executing-democrats/index.html

I tell everyone I know here that Michele Morrow has no place in the public school system or in any public sector role. A malevolent lunatic is the best way to describe her. If people here want that for the schools, then it is their choice.

And the way I look at things these days is that very bizarre people have been elevated to public positions of great responsibility, whether in state governments or the Federal level. It is hard to rationalize, but it is both a sign of the times and the voting inclinations of a group of people who have the numbers to do what they are doing. When we say we must stop the lunatics, we have to remember there are many, perhaps a majority these days, that prefer the lunatics.

It has been reported, but whether it makes a difference — I don’t know. This state made Mark Robinson Lieutenant Governor despite all of his disgusting remarks.

The Moms for Liberty are just a front for the MAGA movement! They do not want their children to read certain “dirty” books! They do not want their children to know the history of black slaves in this nation. My great great grandfather on my Mother’s side was a slave holder and Confederate who fought and died in the Civil War. My grandmother on my Mother’s side who was born in 1899 had a freed slave as a nanny. I condemn my great great grandfather for his treason against the USA and holding humans in bondage. On the other hand, my great great grandfather on my Dad’s side founded in 1850 in Edinburgh, Missouri a college called Grand River College that was the first college west of the Mississippi River to admit women! The second college to admit women west of the Mississippi River was Grinnell College in Iowa in 1877! Harvard did not admit women until the early 1900’s. When the Civil War broke out, James Witten closed his college and went East to fight for the Union! He restarted his college after the Civil War! In many ways, my family history mirrors the profound differences between southern states and northern states even today in the 21st century!

Expand full comment

Fascinating! But are you sure about the timeline of women in college? The only reason I question you is because my great-grandmother was from the Washington state area, and she alleged graduated from a college there during the late 1800s.

Expand full comment

Hello Bonnie: I researched as best as I could the history of Grand River College and it was 1850. My great great grandfather was obviously progressive and a good businessman because allowing women in his college potentially doubled his student pool. I found a picture of the women’s glee club for Grand River College in the 187O’s. Grand River College survived until closing just before WW1 because a fire burned down the school building!

Hitler's strategy is precisely what Trump has promulgated. Why so many Americans do not see what is blindingly clear about Trump's strategy is confounding. From grievance, to big lies,to attacking minorities to denigrating our country Trump is emulating Hitler. We must not underestimate the power of fear and hate but now can embrace Kamala's joy and call for freedom.

Unfortunately, major media outlets have tacitly or openly supported Trump by treating him as normal and not reporting on his continuous lies. One can only attribute this departure from journalistic ethics to the thirst for advertisers and viewers. From subtle factors like the very unflattering lighting for Kamala on the recent CNN interview to the endless maga questions is is clear that that network is not neutral. We must convince those magas who we know that Kamala will benefit them and their children and grandchildren.

Spot on Andrew. All cable news networks are now just having readers (commentators) read their vile rhetoric on air in an effort to boost profits. It's up to us, the citizenry now.

A lot of people are just tuning into politics after Labor Day. Work hard between now and the election to disseminate information about Project 2025, its danger for America, and about the vile Local people who will support the Right's theocratic murderers.

It is appalling that so many Americans fail to see that the consequences of not supporting Ukraine in its valiant effort to preserve its territorial integrity will have the same consequences as the Munich Pact. Putin, if successful in conquering Ukraine, will be emboldened, as was Hitler, by the failure to stop him in his earlier territorial grabs. He will invade Poland and other Eastern European countries, starting what will definitely be mankind's final World War, as there will be no Homo Ignoramus left to ignite another.

Exactly right. And TFG supports this behavior by saying, "If I was president, I'd tell Russia to do whatever the hell they want." Seriously, WTF is wrong with this delusional, deranged, demented, vile POS and his supporters. Even if folks don't agree with Kamala or the D platform, the country and the world will survive with her as POTUS. It will even thrive. That can't be said for TFG, his acolytes, the Heritage Foundation, et al, if they win.

Do real American voters actually support him? Maybe a minority of a minority do, but his poll numbers show that he’s one of the least popular VP nominees ever. Maybe the most disliked ever. American voters sometimes make strange choices, but in the whole they aren’t totally stupid.

I did not express myself clearly in that post. I was referring to Trump as a "degenerate incompetent" and describing his running mate, JD Vance, as a "hillbilly" venture capitalist.

It never seeks to amaze me how often incredulity with the state of ignorance shared by millions of Americans is commented on here.

A nation with a failed public education system, a nation where a national so- called news network has polluted the airwaves for a generation with its right wing extremist propaganda, a political party that has succumbed without a fight to being taken over by neo - fascist ideology, and you have our present cascade into darkness.

Stop asking WHY and start fighting back.

The Republicans foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger. They are now inside.

I never thought the crazies in our country would ever amass such power. Boy, was I wrong. And friends I thought I knew have morphed into creatures I no longer recognize. Like creatures from the black lagoon, human in form, but with gills and claws and acting on monstrous impulses.

So this is what an existential struggle looks like. I've lived a blessed life up to now. It's ALL about my grandkids now.

The extreme right really knows how to label! They use words like liberty, united, patriots, freedom, democracy, etc., that average citizens think is a "good thing', when in reality, they mean the total opposite! "Citizens United", "Right to Work", Moms for Liberty", just to name a few! Trump wraps himself in the flag, while telling his people how horrible America is. Trump calls insurrectionists "patriots", and "heroes", while he calls Veterans who died in war, suckers and losers.

Too many voters are lax when it comes to informing themselves before they vote. I must admit that I too, fell word trap. We must educate our family and friends on what these words, that the extreme right are using, really mean, and what organizations, like "Moms for Liberty", are really wanting to do!

In America today, what is up is down, and what is down is up! If we are not careful, if we do not educate ourselves, we just might vote for someone or something that is the opposite of what we really want!

We must fight for the dream of freedom we think we enjoy today. That freedom is under threat. It is elusive. Ask anyone who knew someone who lived through that war. They fought for you. They fought for me. They fought for our children and the children to come. They saved us from fascism, from nazism. My Dad was one of them.

Sadly, we looked away - We weren’t paying attention. That allowed a Republican Party to welcome a nihilistic, sociopath to take over. Trump is today’s Fuhrer. He must be stopped. Now. Otherwise, all we hold dear will be lost. And the death of those in WWII will have been in vain.
