The Trump story isn’t just hollow. It has become boring and shallow. The evidence of that was the hackneyed response speech on behalf of MAGA Republicans, delivered by the pathological liar and daughter of political grifter Mike Huckabee. Donald Trump disdained America’s soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. He called them “suckers and losers.” The sight of combat wounds revulsed Trump, who made clear his contempt for wounded warriors when they were out of sight and the show was off camera.
It was painfully obvious that Governor Huckabee Sanders (it pains me to type that) had written that godawful speech well in advance of the SOTU, and not a single word was changed after the SOTU was over. While the President addressed real issues that affect real Americans, Huckabee Sanders spoke of a "dystopian hellscape" (Senator Chris Murphy's description) where "woke mobs" and CRT instructors lurk under the bed with the bogeyman, waiting to kidnap your children.
President Biden was masterful. Huckabee Sanders was an embarrassing caricature of her MAGA-liar self.

I live in MAGA Florida where the looneys in the extreme right wing government are making all these mean, insane WOKE laws like “Don’t Say Gay”, “Banning Books”, getting rid of Teachers Unions and creating made up conspiracies. How the heck this state became so far right extreme GQP controlled is a shame! I’m a progressive Democrat and will fight hard in FL to protect Women’s reproductive rights, voting rights, LGBTQ+ rights and workers rights! After the results of the 2016 election and compounded by the January 6, 2021 domestic terrorism, I've had a great deal of anxiety with full blown panic attacks on a regular basis. I could not watch the SOTU live as I feared a higher level of heckling and disruption from the moronic so called "freedom caucus". Then I went through my Post.News feed to get impressions from people I trust and my Substack subscriptions. I saw a photo of Huckabee-Sanders in my news feed. She looks like a witch with the perfect backdrop being her witches den. She reminds me of the cruelest women in Amy Coney-Barrett's very creepy people of praise sect.
Tonight I will watch Judy Woodruff interview President Biden on PBS Newshour. That will be comforting. President Biden's Communications team need to really get him out more on television where he actually speaks to the interviewers face to face or on video. Face the Nation and other Sunday talk shows would be great - extended conversations. He needs to drop in to the daily press briefings more as well.
