"...we are going to start slitting throats on day one." Can you imagine John F. Kennedy saying that? Obama? Either of the Bushes? Eisenhower? Maybe Lincoln? How is it okay to think and speak like this? Why would anyone vote for this unlikable s.o.b. to be President of the United Sates?

This is an ongoing Republican coup, an attempt to topple Democracy and to replace it with with an authoritarian fascist regime. Violence is encouraged by dictators like DeSantis.

Lisa, in confirmation of what you wrote (looking at the Trump camp), you might want to read the RollingStone article from the link i just posted here:

Well the tyrant DJT and his co-conspirators nearly did throw out an election and take power in our country! They're hard at work, on every front, in continuing their efforts. They're organizing and strategizing. I didn't know to what degree until I read this article. Unsettling. Thanks for posting this, Timothy. This needs to be exposed, continually, and hopefully the MSM will cover this (?). When I read this article, it became clear as to why Trump is so emboldened when he's speaking on the news and in social media. He has a violent extreme Trump-team that feeds his narcissistic ego...which is definitely a threat to the future of our Democracy now and most likely beyond 2024. Thanks.

Timothy, I looked for a free option on Rolling Stone’s website. No luck.

Susan, i usually access the RS articles from their email feed which comes to my inbox a few or several times a week.

I just opened up a fresh Chrome window at https://www.rollingstone.com/

In the upper right i see "Log In" and "Subscribe" choices.

Do NOT go there, unless you want to purchase an "all access" subscription.

INSTEAD, go to the far left of the webpage and click on the ROUND BUTTON WITH THREE LINES (it's under the "Got a tip?" query.

In the small submenu that opens up, look to the BOTTOM RIGHT where you can "sign up" with your email address to "Alerts and Newsletters."

That then puts you on RS's email feed......

It's where i get many of their breaking news stories and "scoops" on other interesting developments in our world.

Trump, DeSatanist, and his sick-o-phants are devoid of humanity and yet supported by nearly half the country. It's so disgusting. Thanks. Steve. I'd like to see you back on TV because we need your voice loud and heard.

Yes, If Steve is back on TV, he can be heard far and wide, which will also inform viewers about his 'The Warning' youtube channel which already has 159,000 subscribers and is gaining fast.

Steve can take it TO MAGA and can help to educate Americans about the foundations of Democracy, but he needs to be out there on a larger scale than he is now. Go Steve Schmidt.

Aggman, with all due respect, I don’t think nearly half of the country supports MAGA White Christian totalitarianism. From the polls and other numbers I’ve seen of likely or registered voters it looks like that number is 33%-35%. I know that’s still a lot but we may have to fight to get our country back and for the sake of our morale it helps to know that supporters of democracy have a 2-1 edge over these brainwashed insurrectionist zombies.

I hope you're right but the last two elections were too close for comfort. Besides, Trump's GOP is planning to cheat even more this time, stopping voting everywhere they can.

Imagine my horror while reading those words from Ron DeSantis! I am astounded beyond all measure. "Slitting throats"??? What tribe of barbaric animals does DeSantis come from? That anyone running for office, no matter that office, would voice such thoughts disqualifies them immediately. It even disqualifies them as "human". Consummate evil walks among us, and now that evil has a public voice. The depths of inhumanity and cruelty espoused by DeSantis surpass all reason.

I hope the Florida citizens will take appropriate actions with their current Governor. Based on this and other comments, he has no business being part of a democracy.

Thus far, I have read or heard nothing about this from his constituents. Frankly, from his remarks, DeSantis is sadistic; a pathological threat to a decent, humane society. He belongs in an asylum, locked tightly away from society at large.

We the People have lost ourselves! We must pull ourselves together and get back to our values and ethics. We turned our heads and became indifferent, thinking that our government would continue to go on, doing it for us? We forgot the major fact that we are the glue that keeps our democracy together. We must grab what we stand for, be strong, and seek the truths of our country! Or, we will lose it and merely have to accept what is left over! It is up to US for the U.S.!

You are right that education is key to our future. On Instagram yesterday I saw a photo of a typical school lunch served in Rome. I was floored by its healthy and appetizing appearance. I’d drop the photo here but don’t know how. If we give kids crap, for their minds or bodies, how do we expect them to get a feel for what’s possible? Some of the physical school buildings themselves, have a bit of a prison vibe.

Let’s surround our children with what’s lovely so they can begin on a higher rung.

We, a small group of people have lost themselves. It is not the majority, and it is not all lost. However, we do have to recall our history, our honest history, warts and all, and call out the evil we are faced with. Then we can continue.

Well written / spoken (depending on what version). We need to recgonize just how serious this is that is facing us. I do not doubt that DeSantis was not just a figure of speech, but a real plan. I do not know how many people have any inkling of the whole Schedule F that was proposed at the end of Trump's administration, and what that could do to the US if he has an opportunity to implement a governmental cadre loyal to him only. Forget the oath any federal employee or military member takes to defend the Constitution. It will be an oath to Trump and his rule.

We can stop it, but we need to do it now.

The cultists are brainwashed by Trump and the MAGA movement to think that they and their children are under grave threat from militant blacks, groomer LGBTQ folks, bloodthirsty and Jews, militant youth, communists (ie Democrats) the Deep State, the list goes on. Cultists live in a state of confusion, delusion, and fear. Some of these folks can't sleep at night. Trump has established himself as their protector, savior. Fascism 101.

Steve, good morning. What you call apathy may be diluted by the strong urge to LOOK AWAY from the repulsive, ok, evil of the horrible Donald Trump. That’s why I personally can’t watch Fox lie to everyone. I just can’t. And those who have succumbed to Fox’s IV drip can’t stand to listen to what you have to say. Those who swing liberal often tend to look away all together. The other side sticks like glue to Fox’s swill to get their fix of righteous anger.

And as Kareem said this morning, so they can say “...I’m a good person!”

Never Trumpers, and Steve Schmidt is the best, are impressing a large swath of moderate Democrats with their intellectual honesty and their bravery, and I am one. Their words serve to subtly underscore their historical core values such as fiscal responsibility. I think there is room for broad agreement in the center, and a new way forward.

What you write here Steve is harsh but accurate. It should inspire us all to fight against the corrupt forces of Trump/ MAGA fascist authoritarianism that some Americans seem to want to succumb to. In addition to the cynicism you identify that has overcome American society (because they see the inequities that have created a ruling class with special privileges for elites like Trump), there is another dark force at work. It’s the dark force created by this cynicism that now motivates many Americans to yield their freedom and rights to the populist demagoguery of radical American right wing fascism. They’ve become willing to yield their freedom in exchange for leaders who promise to “take care of them” if they will surrender their vote, their elections, and their key American democratic duty of providing the consent of the governed. All they must do is now bow their knee to the new “king”. And this “king” is a likely criminal which has just been indicted for the fourth time. Yet, though surrendering their basic citizen rights, those swearing fealty to him seem to still be willing to follow him. If only they knew how much this “king” truly disdains them the way all elitist, fascist, populist leaders disdain their subjects. How easily many of us can be fooled. Our only hope, in my view, is Trump’s corruption, once viewed as he’s tried as a criminal, will be so smarmy it will wake us up. Then we still must fix the inequities that have bred Americans’ political cynicism.

Is it not time for the Paul Ryan’s, Jeff Flakes, and Rusty Bowers of the world, who empowered donald trump and then we’re shocked they could not control him, to stop thinking they will get a better candidate?

Jeff Flake said he thought it was a lay up to call out white supremacy after Charlottesville. It was not. That is now a blinding glimpse of the obvious. He was run out.

You have already said it, but if these men are truly patriotic Americans, the choice is a lay up.

Get behind and support Joe Biden.

Let's elect the throat slitting guy, said no one ever.....save maybe Jack The Ripper...

The election of Donald Trump was assuredly going to lead to mayhem, destruction, decrepitude and sordid chaos, and marked a tragic sea change in our collective apparati, countenance, dignity and carriage.

The most damming dynamic is not Trump, a nearly unchangeable constant, but the multitudes who so readily shed their humanity in service of a beast.

However, perhaps now, with full exposure, revelation and stark unveiling of the proclivities of the morally unsound, we can reknit with the true patriots and even move ourselves further along the trajectory to fulfill our national promise.

The old saying “Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line”, is unfortunately true. We need Democratic leaders to step out and show leadership. Our messaging sucks. We need the Whitmore generation to challenge the DNC support of Joe Biden. I appreciate all he’s done since 2020 but he needs to ride off and begin a transition to younger folk.
