Happy Mother’s Day to those who are celebrating! Today, I break down why Ron DeSantis's campaign in Iowa is dead on arrival, and has no shot at a comeback similar to that of John McCain. I talk about how the Florida governor missed his opportunity to take down Donald Trump, and how he is unfit to compete with him on the debate stage.
DeSantis is not Trumpy enough nor is his version of Dr Evil sufficient to subsume the looming large fanged shadow of his primo rival in Evil-land. DeSantis needs remedial Evil finishing school in order to manifest sufficient smoothe evil bona fides instead of his au natural awkward horridness

I agree with you that DeSantis has relinquished any advantage he might have ever had. But I do see a possibility for his candidacy, if Trump is completely derailed by the indictments coming from Fulton County and if the DOJ does file the indictments it is clearly developing at a rapid rate. If his campaign is derailed, by those indictments, DeSantis might appear to be the most viable candidate left. It may be that the rope-a-dope appearance of the DeSantis campaign is due to his calculation that Trump will be dead meat within the coming months.

While I somewhat share your view of DeSantis, it is possible he’s the dark horse candidate that can surprise everyone with his evangelical bent. There is a large silent body of voters who will come out for a candidate who shares their beliefs. He may lose in the early stages but I believe it’s possible he can slide right by the front running candidates and take the lead in later states. DeSantis is a zealot for all things Christian. He’s shown he will take whatever steps needed to stop the WOKE peoples. The list of republican candidates has some moderates in it but they don’t seen to have the conviction to fight Trump and DeSantis should they jump ahead of everyone else. This is going to be an primary election not seen before. There will be a dogfight should Trump or DeSantis be the only ones left standing.
If the support for Biden falters early on in the primaries I look to see Jefferies jumping in along with Newsom from California.
