Steve, did the Biden/Harris campaign coordinate with De Niro and the J-6 officers who spoke and confronted MAGA protesters in front of the court house? I figured they did. De Niro resorted to 'brawling' -haven't you suggested the Democrats need to do more of that (i.e. Christi)? De Niro got under Trump's skin? Didn't you suggest this is what is needed? I'm confused by your message.

VP Harris said, "Sometimes you have to kick that f*cking door down!" Can she not speak truth?!

It also seems that there was one off the record Democrat who talked about 'nobody wants to be that guy." It seems like that now is fuel for Politico and others, including you, Steve, to devolve into a rant about "Biden is losing", instead of hailing De Niro and the J6 officers for making a stand. There seems to be mixed messages here. Biden is turning this country around. Speak about that!

I am a little confused, as well. It seemed that it was a good idea to have DeNiro speak, but not as part of the circus around the trial. At least that is what I took away from it.

We need so many more famous actors and singers to speak out for Democracy, as well as more people who directly experienced the J6 violent MAGA attack. Where are they?!

I watch MSNBC a lot , and when I see/hear a General, or the Fr. Ambassador of Russia, etc., tell us the dangers that Trump present, I want to scream at the TV- Get out there and campaign with Joe! The regular citizen, doesn't even realize what is going to happen to their lives if Trump wins in November! They think their lives are bad now-just wait!

I thought DeNiro's comments and presence were spot on. "Many, many people" :) have been shouting @ the Biden campaign to fight dirtier and use the same visibility that Trump and the Red Tie Brigade have been using. Don't see why this was bad...Dems want to see the Dems push back.

I have a question for Steve; I listened to a segment on Here and Now on NPR and it was an interview w/ Alexander Butterfield of Watergate fame. He blew the whistle on Nixon. Cassidy Hutchinson consulted w/ him b4 her testimony before the Jan 6 Committee. So, I wondered, does the Biden campaign have access to the footage of the Jan 6 committee interviews and if so, why aren't they plastering those all over the TeeVee boxes across America? Those were so explosive and riveting and all testimony were by Republicans. Seems like it would be helpful. Thank you.

Steve, thanks for today’s warning. Robert DeNiro is an American icon. I watched him on Bill Maher several weeks ago. Robert DeNiro gave the best take-down of Donald Trump I’ve ever seen. Trump and MAGA are afraid of DeNiro. You are right, just look how Trump, MAGA and FOX reacted to him. I hope the Biden campaign will give him a Prime Time speaking slot at the DNC. He is real, authentic, and highly respected by the American people. It is difficult to get through to the American people, but because of his sincerity, love of country, and no time for bullshit or drama, Robert DeNiro is able to break through. I HOPE THE BIDEN CAMPAIGN WILL GIVE HIM A PRIME TIME SPEAKING SLOT AT THE CONVENTION. Thanks Steve and have a good rest of the day.

Maybe Schmidt could try for a podcast or zoom session with DeNiro? This could amplify The Warning and be a boost for the Biden effort. We need Taylor Swift and others to join DeNiro.

For some reason I prefer written posts over videos.

Hi DC, Schmidt has upwards of 250,000 subscribers to his Youtube videos. 4,000 people have already watched this The Warning video in less than one hour. Steve's videos are more far reaching than the newsletters are and transfer easily to his widely viewed social-media platforms. Steve already sent out a newsletter earlier today. We need to have #SchmidtStorms reach millions of people as soon as possible, therefore the videos are urgently important. Thanks.

Hi Lisa!

> "the videos are urgently important"

Oh, no doubt. We used to watch all his videos on our big screen. That was our impetus to subscribe to his substack.

Hi DC! There are transcripts for the videos on Youtube, although they're not as easy to read as the newsletters are. Steve Schmidt got my attention on MSNBC a few years ago in a way that few people ever have. He has a strong presence on video/tv. We so much need #SchmidtStorms to reach a wider audience as soon as possible.

I would like to comment on today's conviction of former president, Donald J. Trump.

Although, I thank God that for once, Trump got what he deserves; I am sad!

Although, I am glad that our judicial system has proved to remain strong, at least in New York City; I am sad! Although, I am glad that this has proved that no man/woman is above the law; I am not celebrating!

I am feeling sadness. I am sad for our country, and for the American people, who had to go through this nightmare (and will continue to go through this nightmare until he is laid to rest)! I am sad for Baron, probably the only real innocent member of the Trump family. I am sad for all the crap that Trump has put us through: the constant lies; the degrading of our justice system; the eroding of our Supreme Court; the eroding of our Congress. We may never be what we were once, because of this man-Trump!

We are not out of the woods yet, my friends of democracy! The damage will continue-at a much different level!

We who love our democracy, our Constitution, our Rights as American citizens, must continue to be on alert! I hope and pray, that this will be the beginning of the end of Trump's power; however, he might react, like a wounded animal, ready to fight to the death!

Already his warriors in congress are speaking out. I am sure his buddies at FOXnews, and podcasts, etc. will be calling for revenge! We must be as brave as the twelve jurors were today!

My last word to you, for tonight is this: Hurray for the women! Hurray for EG Carroll! Hurray for Stormy Daniels! Hurray for Karen McDougal! It's the women who have the courage to stand up to this con man! I have more respect for these women, than any of the MAGAs in Congress! God bless these women for standing up to the most famous bully in America's history!

(I am sorry if I misspelled anyone's names!)

Donna, this is the best comment I've read in months! I feel some relief, but 'sad', too. I feel a sense of humiliation for the USA that Trump could be our next POTUS, and all that has gone on for almost a decade with MAGA. It destroyed my own family in Montana. Gone for good.

On the upside, I entirely agree with you about our Heroins! Maybe women will be the ones who band together so there will be a blue sweep in November! Again, thank you for your comment and I hope you will repost it earlier in the day tomorrow so more people can read it.

I am of the belief that women will save our country, just as the black female vote in Alabama prevented a child predator from becoming a United States Senator. It will be a struggle, but God be with the ladies.

Lisa, thank you for your kind words! I just write how I feel; and right now I have mixed feelings. I am relieved that for once in his miserable life, criminal Don has been forced to be accountable for his actions. On the other hand, it is like the calm before the storm. You know it is coming, but where it will hit, and how strong it will be, is still up in the air.

As a Democrat, I don't rejoice at what happened today. It is a disgrace to our country; to my Dad, who fought in WWII, and to all veterans who fought for our freedom, to have a former POTUS found guilty on 34 charges! AND, the way the crimes were committed-not very presidential! And yet, people will rise up to defend him-that is the sad part, that is the thing that I just cannot understand! I am starting to see political signs in my neighborhood for Lauren Boebert, for crying out loud! These are the things that make me so sad! I'm sad for our children and grandchildren, who have to live through this hell that we have created!

The man is too damn vane to stop the insanity, to call it quits; and that really makes me sad!

So, Lisa, we just have to wait until November, and then we vote! Vote, so criminal Don can never be POTUS again!

Hi Donna, I sure agree with everything you're saying here! And, I'm glad somebody is talking about the children and grandchildren and where this insanity will leave them. Just children being raised in this toxic and polarized environment will play out in many of their lives in consequential ways. The youth deserves better and these MAGA leaders and foreign influencers who only want money and power care nothing at all about this and it has always sickened me. Why don't we hear more about this?

Lisa Miller from this community sent this link, below, to me today and it reminded me of what you wrote here yesterday. There is a 7 min audio and it is hits the nail on the head. Glad we got to visit about this. Oh, we will Vote!! Women unite!

It's not what Bobby D said that's curious. It's the hypocrisy of those Constitution First Trumpers. Outrage yesterday at private citizens, but NONE when Congress played Hooky from THEIR JOBS we pay them to do. Guy kept yelling at him "You're washed up, you're washed up" Funny, I never thought that being articulate at 81 and worth $800,000,000 was Washed Up

Thank You Steve.... of course I love De Niro ...more celebrities and present and past leaders need to call out Trump the way Robert De Niro did yesterday ...people don't belive Joe has done a good job. He has but they don't believe it ..if you can't convince them that he has done a good job (which he has) then tell the country who Trump is.. I am reading John Dean's book "Authoritarian Nightmare" It is an excellent book about Trump and his followers. Remind people of who he is.. I saw a bumper sticker today.. It said, "Don't blame me I voted for Trump." Geez somebody help us..

I certainly also feel that help is needed, but I just cannot find either the words or the suggestions. The second highest ranking public official in North Carolina won his election by 300,000 votes after saying things were better when women could not vote. No words I have for his victory.

Bad day for a Trump. MAGA is active as ever. So weird to see so many people with a broken moral compass. Imagine calling the Capital Police a traitor for trying to protect the capital, and the Congress doing their jobs. How did they ever learn to worship a shyster. I think they say the pledge of allegiance, say the words and then do the opposite. Even if they lose the election, they will still be around.

DeNiro was surprising inarticulate when speaking to the redhat maga man. Why didn't he say something like: "Trump spit on the graves of hundreds of thousands of men and women who gave their lives to preserve American democracy. He called them 'suckers and losers'. When actually you and all the others who wear that red hat are the real suckers and losers."

I think that is part of it, but I also think there are other things. Poor education coupled with economic misery tethered to anger.

It still confounds me, living in the South, that most poor whites here continually vote for politicians who seek to take away their Medicaid.

In normal times, a candidate with this much baggage would be polling so low that it would not be a blip. Such a candidate would not be embraced by a major party.

But these are not normal times. I point even to overseas where China has embraced Russia, despite the huge amount of trade we do with China. It is dumb and bizarre. It points to degraded minds — the best and brightest of the world are not in leadership positions.

As the aphorism goes, “Never wrestle with a pig because you’ll both get dirty and the pig likes it.” One caveat: Be careful invoking expressions that slander innocent pigs who sustain themselves with grain and beans rather than the raw red meat gorged upon by MAGA Trump and his team at their sty’s fetid trough of fascism.
