For those of you who weren’t able to join Steven Beschloss of America, America and me during our live conversation yesterday, here it is. We discuss the final days of the campaign, what could happen on election night, as well as the future of America:
32:30 Yeah I was optimistic too on Election Day 2020 that Biden would win overwhelmingly with some wave of the Silent Majority. The next morning I was absolutely depressed. Trump voter at my office asked why, Biden was going to win after the mail-in votes were counted (haha, he had no idea). I said BECAUSE it shouldn't be anywhere near competitive. And this closeness just adds MORE legitimacy to the fascism movement. And so this movement would continue and get stronger. I wish I had been wrong.
The future of our country and the world will hang on whether or not Trump's prominent GOP supporters, politicians who acted like normal Republicans before Trump took over the party, will continue to support him if he loses this election. I believe they will finally act on what Graham said right after the insurrection, “I think it’s a uniquely bad idea to delay this election. Trump and I, we had a hell of a journey. I hate it being this way. I hate it being this way. All I can say is count me out. Enough is enough.”
