Van Jones is every bit the archetype of the dishonesty in the failed legacy media. He is a notorious "both-sideser" and will sacrifice his integrity so he can always land on his feet, no matter the party or issue. He lost his credibility by stating "Today is the day Donald Trump became President." Despite his frequent criticism of Trump and his supposedly sincere tears at times, he has played a significant role in legitimizing Trump. In many ways, he's worse than Scott Jennings. At least with Jennings, we know he's bought and paid for, and he doesn't try to hide who he really is. Van Jones deserves no platform on this website and should not be propped up. I only want purists going forward. This is no time to play games with patsies.

ohhh Van, still after all this time you haven't changed the sooo very careful, both-sides soft delivery. just say it

... in re climate, there is no comparison of those when in power denied and repudiated climate concerns and blocked any significant reform or recovery and others who worked for it.

Two ideas stand out in this discussion. America was founded on righteous and noble principles and values but in practice, at its founding, was far from achieving them. Our history, with notable setbacks, has been the story of progressives, who believed in and loved the United States, fighting for reforms to move us closer to those ideals, faced with powerful resistance from conservatives and vested interests.

The second idea is that Americanism unites us whether we are Black, White, Hispanic, Male, Female, of amorphous gender, or LGBTQ. Our efforts to create a more just and equitable country should lift us all. I do not agree that Democrats emphasize the differences among the various cohorts of our 340m. citizens. What they do recognize is that minorities have been treated unfairly in the past and hence due special consideration and protection to achieve true equality of opportunity and fair treatment by law enforcement and in the justice system. Programs to help the poorer and middle class people in our country help all, particularly the historically disadvantaged and that is where we should concentrate further efforts at reform.

Agree on first point and most of second. I didn't interpret it that "Ds emphasize the differences among the various cohorts" but rather that they misinterpreted or ignored the growing overlap of those cohorts. The overlap in the Venn diagram is much larger than they expected or even considered. I think Steve's example about the road construction crew members he sees emphasized this.

I don’t trust Van Jones

Entitled to your opinion, but without substance or context, it doesn't mean anything. I don't trust Kim808150. That doesn't mean a damn thing. See how this works? Summarily dismissing someone because of reason x, y, or z, including trump, was one of the topics of this conversation.

Thank you for this great conversation with Van Jones.

The takeaway for me is about authenticity but perhaps more so, it’s about the heart.

Speaking from the heart, connecting with other people’s hearts, even if one is a convicted felon, outrageous liar and certifiable wackadoodle, speaking from the heart is the only winning strategy.

The Constitution’s Preamble, the Declaration of Independence, those sentiments, those words, were not only brilliant but they were from the heart as well.

Let’s reclaim them from the traitors who have made “common welfare” dirty words, reclaim them from the monster who is about to swear a false oath.

Thank you Steve. Thank you and stay safe.

Phenomenal conversation between two intellectually honest individuals of different political persuasions… there is hope here. I’m charged up and my heart is full.

Steve, when you are a guest on another’s platform you are so open, honest and forthcoming, your authenticity does really flourish. The anecdotal stories you share all of it is so different than when you are hosting someone on The Warning. At least to me. Perhaps it is the difference between the interviewer and the interviewee.

I so appreciated your discussion with Van Jones, it has given me a new way of thinking about him, made me want to know more about him. It is unlikely that I will tune in to CNN, they are of no use to me. But I will find him here on Substack. Both of you spoke to important truths that need to be addressed. When you mentioned Dean Philips as an honest man it reminded me of what you tried to help him achieve. I recall how so many couldn’t understand what that was about, how shortsighted many people were when faced with what democracy is. This conversation with Van was a good thing to hear. Thank you for joining him.
