We have to get Much BETTER AT getting more understanding of events and news of what happened in the past and is now happening. Historical facts are very important to know and understand what the future can portray. Spread the historical news about the Frye festival that the Corrupt Trump administration was involved and wants to repeat this Fiasco in 2025.

Churchill opined people get the government they deserve. Although peddling false dystopic fantasies and targeting minority groups as grievance fodder might be effective campaigning strategies, squaring the lies with reality, owning the stewardship and responsibilities of governing and dealing with unintended consequences of decisions will be a sharp contrast.

Trump and his cabinet of incompetent merry pranksters will quickly devolve into a cacophonous shit show with escalating inflation as its first consequence.

The American public will experience buyer's remorse early and then need to contain the hemorrhaging while shoring up our institutions as our next iteration, trying to recover from the Trump plague.

Steve, unrelated to today’s auditory post (which I enjoyed) I wanted to submit a comment on your 11/27/24 writing. I had a routine appointment today and while waiting, I re-read your Wednesday Warning (which I never have time to do). Having consumed and considered your thoughts on a daily basis I’ve observed you morph or mature into a political writer who’s (in my humbly unqualified opinion) on par with anyone currently in the biz. No one could read that piece and reasonably argue against your arrival as one of a handful of the best political writers during this (cataclysmic) American epoch. You’ve become a lamplight to me, and I suspect so many others, who provides solid ground within an Okeefenokee bog of trembling earth.

ThankYou for the solace, from your wisdom.

And not to mention Steve's grasp of history as another bonus to his political comments. I'm frightened not so much for myself because of my age but for the planet and my 9 grandkids, especially the 2 granddaughters who are 25 and 26. Their dad is a Trumper who has just voted away their rights, as they see it. They are pissed.

A well-known Hadith says, “Among the signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks, he lies; when he gives a promise, he breaks it; and when he is trusted, he betrays” (Sahih al-Bukhari 33, Sahih Muslim 59)

In “Hypocrisy and Moral Seriousness,” Roger Crisp and Christopher Cowton identify four different kinds of hypocrisy which they call pretence, blame, inconsistency, and complacency.

Trump pretends to be what is not: competent, honest, and brilliant. He is a hypocritical loser.

Steve placed too much emphasis on Biden's role in the failed prosecution of Trump and his election victory; Biden's role is real; he should have fired Garland as soon as it became obvious that he was too weak to oversee the successful prosecution of Trump and he should have kept his promise to be a one-term president, so that primaries and the DNC could have selected a Democratic candidate to square off against Trump. However, the role of Aileen Cannon in delaying the trial on charges involving illegally held documents and obstruction of justice was pivotal in Trump's evasion of a trial and verdict of guilty, as was the grant of immunity to Trump by his stooges on SCOTUS. The American people must accept blame also. They should have understood that the DOJ was not weaponized by the Biden administration and that, in fact, it was and is Trump who intends to weaponize the DOJ. Media failed to make it clear that in every case, Trump was indicted and tried by a jury of his peers, not the DOJ, which followed due process.

I share Steve's fears of the outcomes likely from the incompetent louts and crazies that Trump has nominated to key positions in our government; they will have a very negative impact on the citizens of our country and, indeed, the global population. And I do believe that many important and revered institutions will be destroyed. I also believe the political pendulum will swing toward the left, social democracy, and that a better and more democratic government and society will emerge following the pain of the next few years.

And, I love the idea of ending those persistent and annoying pharmaceutical adds! Spend the money on research and ways to improve our health as well as reducing drug costs!

And we need to get the additives and unnecessary pesticides out of our food and do something to get America's children away from their electronic devices and become more physically active!

The only thing I’ll say is that Trump was very clear about what he was going to do. We talked a lot about that here. I’d say that people had a clear idea, for the most part, about concentration camps, deportations, and pardoning of January 6th criminals. And a majority of voters said go for it.

This is the best I’ve seen from you and it persuaded me to go from free to paid. Congratulations, I’m a tough sell . I’m of the Viet Nam generation , taught at West Point, co authored a texts book published by Prentice Hall based on my course at West Point “Politics American Style”. Spent 10 years in the California Assembly when young and intensely followed politics my entire life. And I generally agree with you but caution that you have a tendency to over dramatize the obvious. No need . You are much better when you calm down and take a breath. For example your amazing insight about Trump as Buchanan who brings down many present institutions in total destruction which clears the way for a 21st century rebirth of institutions to deliver services without the baggage of institutions created in the ‘50s and ‘60s You are absolutely right. I never thought of that. And I’m a creative guy. That’s real analysis . I’d give you an A+ or , as a West Point Professor, a 95. I never gave anyone that grade. Congratulations again. Keep it up but tone it down a bit. So your brilliant insights shine through .

Thank you Steve for your clear view of how awful Trump is - and how we got here. I am glad and maybe bit surprised that you see a light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, some bad things are going to happen to people who don't deserve it in the next 4 years. And in my opinion some people do deserve it because they voted for this criminal moron to be returned to the White House. Unfortunately the damage from Trump and his clown car of cabinet heads is going to be a wide sweep. I am also very concerned about the return of diseases that were eradicated decades ago. In any case I'm glad that you think that the US will survive

Musk is calling out four female federal 'Climate Science' employees. CNN is covering this well.

A Professor was interviewed about this chilling and dangerous practice of his. She tells of the time Musk called her out when she was appointed as an adviser to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because she criticized Tesla.

These women are fairly 'low level' employees.

And my expectation here in North Carolina is that Fort Liberty will go back to Fort Bragg.

I honestly do not care if it does, though Braxton Bragg was a bumbler of a general and even Jefferson Davis knew he was not worth a shit in a hat.

Also, I felt Fort Liberty was just too generic a name. In Goldsboro, we have Seymour Johnson AFB. Johnson was a test pilot. Surely, we could have found an Army hero. How about Fort Thompson? Max Thompson was a WW2 soldier from North Carolina who was a Medal of Honor recipient.

Great discussion. Although I couldn’t help to feel as I was listening that even highly intelligent and knowledgeable people like Katie still either have trouble understanding what’s happened in our country and across the world, can’t visualize the reality or imagine the consequences and future, or don’t want (can’t) to bring themselves to believe this is real. I wonder how many average German citizens in the 30’s felt the coming horrors as I do now.

Great listen, very insightful and informative, thanks Steve. I want to know what nefarious actions Trump, Bannon, Miler, et al have in mind for the Jan 6th militia types he’s gonna let out of jail, along with the 3%rs and proud boy militias all over the country whose ranks have been swelling and recruiting local police and sheriffs per Propublica reporting? Whatever Trump is up to seems it’s high time for Democrats to get out front of the shit storm, proactive about preserving peace and sanity, and framing their message around Constitutional law to garner lasting support.

I'm glad Couric decided to keep on keeping on in having her voice out there. I really wasn't ever a fan of her's, but she seems to be on the correct side and wants to help move the nation in a more thoughtful direction.

Is this hypocrisy? I say YES:

During the campaign, Trump swore he had “nothing to do with” a right-wing policy blueprint known as Project 2025 that would overhaul the federal government, even though many of those involved in developing the plans were his allies. Mr. Trump even described many of the policy goals as “absolutely ridiculous.” And during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, he said he was “not going to read it.”

Now, as he plans his agenda for his return to the White House, Mr. Trump has recruited at least a half dozen architects and supporters of the plan to oversee key issues, including the federal budget, intelligence gathering and his promised plans for mass deportations. The shift, his critics say, is not exactly a surprise. Mr. Trump disavowed the 900-page manifesto when polls showed it was extremely unpopular with voters.

I read Project 2025 and tried to tell my close friend as well as my family to look into it and read for themselves. They didn't, which tells me what they really think of our relationship: The ravings of an old silly woman, afraid she would lose her Medicare and Social Security...

And here we are.
