The bottom line: "America or Trump" -good campaign slogan! I also noticed the WH press core disrespectfully yelling out questions to President Biden after his speech and announcing he'd answer questions later as he walked off the stage (which should have been edited out after Biden's front on powerful speech with presence and eye-contact.) I hope Biden never answers another WH press question after their rudeness last week. He has no time for BS. Thank you, Steve -slam dunk!

“America or Trump”… i like it. But President Biden’s manner yesterday must continue. I agree, Steve, “President Biden should appear in settings like he did today between 2 - 3 times per day.”… or at least per week.

Agreed. The press corps should be on double secret probation.

Thanks, Steve. I wore on my front lawn in 2020, the Lincoln Project sign, "America or Trump." I will do it again this year, even more forcefully.

Expand full comment

I did too and I’ll put it out again except I wish it didn’t have LP branding on it. Our neighbors next door had their Trump signs - idiots brought theirs out again after the 2020 election before the votes were all in. I put mine back out too. Could be why our lug nuts were all loosened on our FJ because we live in the midst of fools here in Tulsa.

I'm okay with the Lincoln Project and don't care about the past controversy. They are doing great advertising and will again. We need to fight the Trumpsters everywhere.

“Vladimir Putin sent a message through his useful idiot Tucker Carlson, which is that Russia was nearly 1,000 years old when America was born.”

Apparently, Putin is milking the Carlson interview for every penny of propaganda it can get. They’re now requiring all children to see it in the theaters. However, if history is any indication of future events, then it won’t end well for the traitorous villain Brownshirt in preppy clothes.

As for Russia being a 1,000 years old? Tell that to Mongols who ruled over Russian and most of Asia and East Europe in the 1,300’s.

And yes, this is serious. It’s Trump policies, his impulsive and reckless behavior that has led us to the tragedies we’re are living through in the Middle East and elsewhere.

He’s betrayed every ally we have: the Kurds, our Afghan allies, and our NATO alliance. Only god knows what death and destruction awaits for the world in a second Trump administration.

Will he nuke Denmark because they won’t sell Greenland to him? Will he turn on Israel should the next PM say something critical of him? Will he unleash the military on peaceful protesters (guaranteed), or evoke martial law and arrest all those who willingly oppose him and install a bunch of loyal idiots in the most critical positions in government?

Your guess is as good as mine. But honestly, we still have time to make sure he never sets foot in the Oval again, unless he’s on a Whitehouse tour….:)

He would do what Putin tells him to do. Just like in his first term.

Correction, I should say, “just like in his last term”. First and last. Never again.

Joe needs to tell trump to get the hell out of our country and go to Moscow if he's so in love with his 'strong man' crush Vlad.

So sick of the pathetic fat man lying every second of the day. Just bend over and take your punishment

JUST A FEW DAYS AGO, TRUMP GAVE AN INVITATION TO PUTIN TO INVADE SOME OF OUR NATO ALLIES. This comment reminds me of Mary Trumps words " There is nothing that my uncle could do or say that would shock me."

And Rachel Maddow connected some interesting dots between Tucker Carlson’s trip to Moscow /Putin’s “history” lesson followed by Donald’s ‘go ahead and invade our Allie’s’ remarks.. I keep forgetting, Trump doesn’t just say these things cause he’s dumb.

Thank you!!! Trump has ties to the Russian mafia. Just who does anyone think was in that meeting with Trump Jr and that Russian lawyer? Does anyone really think they were talking about adoptions? Catherine Belton, Malcolm Nance and others have documented Trump’s Russian ties. The real question is: Why is the US media afraid of this story? Check our other Republicans, too. Rand Paul?

And thank Rachel Maddow. Always the first one connecting the dots.

Thanks Steve, you nailed it! I agree 100 percent. President Biden was great yesterday…very strong…but his comm team needs to step it up! I’m not sure if you mentioned it but NATO has been activated only once in its history. And that was to defend us, the United States of America on 9/11. NATO is not only there to defend Europe but to defend our great country! A vote for Trump is a vote to endanger America.

You did it again Steve. My head is about to explode while my heart aches. Reading Eisenhower’s speech, combined with your vivid thoughts on the corporate hold on the media did it. Could it be that Eisenhower’s COURAGE in the face of the forces of greed, corruption, and immorality (read “Military- Industrial Complex”) brought us Reagan? Then it became “Military-Industrial- Media Complex” ? How in God’s name has President Eisenhower’s name not been invoked in speaking of American values and patriotism instead of Reagan, who made “trickle-down-economics the law of the land. Hmmm…I wonder.

Could be because Reagan cut taxes for rich people, and he looked good in Brylcreem.

Thank you Steve Schmidt for this message. It is as clearly expressed as it is unfortunately needed. It should be spread far and wide. Republican Dwight David Eisenhower should be quoted more. Up to and including his final warning against being drawn in by the military industrial complex. You are doing an important service.

Next quote our Independent Senator Angus King's floor speech in the Senate about 3 weeks ago on the need to support Ukraine.

We are seeing House and Senate GOP folding, flipping positions on military aid and border control bills, that they previously wholy endorsed. Trump is making phone calls to congressional reps and Pentagon officials, carefully picking through them to see who he can entice, bully, blackmail, into doing his bidding. He doesn't care if he sets America on fire. Power is his only goal. I'm afraid it's not just about Trump's insanity anymore. A monster is about to be unleashed in this country. The steam is building daily. The culmination will be that Trump is only a puppet for those that will hold the real power,(Russia?) Trump is only an insane puppet in this insidious plan to take over America. The only way to tamp it down...........vote blue! Of course, it would help to see some prison sentences doled out as well. Great article, Steve. Thank you.

We are stronger because of our NATO alliances not despite of our alliances. Our enemies are now spreading their disinformation and propaganda directly from the mouths of Republican senators and representatives. The turncoat senator from Alabama had the audacity to go on the Right-wing propaganda channel, Fox News and blamed America for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He was not only wrong in his conclusions of the reasons of the the Russian invasion but also praised the dictator. Talk about un-American. Tommy Tuberville you are a traitor and a Putin puppet for parroting Russian propaganda.

We need to take a page out of the Putin playbook and drop Tuberville from a window on the 5th columnists floor of the Alabama Statehouse. Tuberville forgets to mention the other country Putin invaded without cause that border Russia. He put American lives in danger for almost a year by not allowing the Armed forces promotions to proceed in the senate. Now the turncoat is putting our allies in danger by not supporting our shared responsibility to keep the world safe from dictators like Putin. I am ashamed every time I see him wearing a flagpin on his lapel. He should be wearing the Russian flagpin because he is doing more to support Putin than he is in supporting the USA.

I saw Chump’s latest comment about Suozzi’s win. According to Chump, Suozzi won because the Republicans ran “that foolish woman.”

Misogyny runs deep in The MAGA World.

My home district, John. I was just relieved that we got the win here. The "republican" he defeated is also my representative at the County level. She just won re-election to that post in November. Suozzi showed us how to win elections and as much as I see myself as progressive, I am also pragmatic. We have to win elections first, and then legislate, not the other way around. Centrist candidates win in suburbia and there has to be space for them in the Democratic tent otherwise we will not win, and this democracy ends.

Thank you, Steve, for your clear and well put description of the press which seems applicable to a major part of the MSM. For a long time I’ve been furious on a daily basis about the biased, gratuitous, and lazy reporting I see, hear, and read. Your words help me to better articulate this dangerous and misleading ‘in your face’ misguided role the media now plays.

NATO, a DEFENSIVE Alliance estastablished in 1949, was principly established for one reason: to stop the Russian-led brand of the Soviet Union's communism. A Dutch officer I once served with said decades ago it was the largest organized international peace movement in the history of the world. He was right then and he's right now.
