I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is the World Wrestling Federation will be taking control of public education in the United States.

The good news is Black Nazi Mark Robinson was not nominated for the job.

Linda McMahon, wife of Ed McMahon, Secretary of Education; is this really happening? What position will Dr. Phil be nominated for? Mike Lindell? Will Steve Bannon or Roger Stone be named FBI director?

Idea for a t-shirt. Photographs of RFK and Dr. Oz in the middle with "Your Health is in Good Hands" written underneath. Would the Magats see the sarcasm? Probably not.

One caveat: Robinson could still become the White House Liaison to the U.S. Holocaust Commission.

Thank you for tackling this. This is one of the most frightening things I have seen out there, especially as the wife of a high school English teacher in red Florida. My husband is threatened at least once a month not to teach liberal writings, not to mention his political beliefs, and not to respond to questions of the students asking for such information. (All of this is a reason we need to fear a rising DeSantis as Trump 2.0). We are being attacked from many directions, on many different levels, and on many different topics. However the rise of blaming “the other,” and make no mistake that forcing religious beliefs is part of the long range goal blaming “the other,” must be stomped out immediately.

Thanks Steve .. this needs to be taken head on .. there is no room for it in America .. now or ever.

Steve, I live in OK and for the last 9 years I have been screaming about the State of our public education. Our government only want privatization and religion put into schools. I watched this interview And I wish that she would have asked Mr Walter’s what exactly he meant by replacing the Dept of education with a Dept of Religious liberty. I just want someone to let him talk you know give him the ability to explain. I think people would be outraged . In OKC there are 2 public middle schools left and the one I had my son in was 93 percent black and the other one is all minority and poor kids. The curriculum is mandated by the state it was awful. When I enroll him I was in a state of shock I thought o had went back to the 1940 or 50’s segregation. I would love to talk to any one who would listen to me about the State of OK schools. What has happened is inexcusable.

I have read that the OK schools are rated 49th in the US, Joannie.

Ryan Walter is either an ignorant and very confused man or a radical who wants to see America transformed into an Christian Theocracy with Trump at its head. What utter nonsense. He buys astronomically overpriced Trump Bibles with public funds, conflates patriotism with religion, and suggests an Orwellian Dept. of Religious Liberty which would act to limit or ban all other religions; does he mean the liberty of Christians to impose their values freely without interference from competing religions and freeing Christian parents from the fear their children will be exposed to other religious values as well as secular values and ethics? Of course he does. Another monster who knows exactly what he is doing, wrapped in the American flag, carrying a Trump Bible, and demanding absolute loyalty to Trump and "Christianity."

I wonder how mindless Ryan Walter would react to a district with a large Muslim population spending public funds on Korans for the classroom. Hmmm?

I was glad to see your specific recommendations for peaceful protest. I think that there will be a lot more of this type of resistance once the new administration starts trying to put their reactionary, constitutionally dubious plans into effect. I'm talking physical resistance here. Getting out and blocking the way. Making it hard for them to do the wrong things they'll be trying to do. Risking arrest, if that's what it comes to. I'm 77. Loved this country my whole life and served her for a good part of it. Damned if I'm going to let them take her away without a fight.

I'm so pleased you took this on, Steve. It's been an issue in the South for decades. Why religious fanatics feel they can force their beliefs onto the rest of us via arcane methods is beyond me, or why they'd even want to try. Parents who force their kids to attend religious services and believe they will then become devout live in another world. My parents did that to me stating that someday I'd come to thank them for it. That day did not arrive, and I do not thank them for the time I had to spend listening to what was preached at me.

Spot on, Steve. This story bothered the hell out of me when I first read about some time ago. Good advice to the students of Oklahoma as well. Their teachers should join them in doing voluntary detention. In particular the history teachers should see this as a lesson plan in real time to study the landmark Supreme Court case from 1969, Tinker vs. Des Moines. I was a senior in high school that year in Iowa and was riveted by the reporting on it. Fellow readers may want to check it out, but the ruing established that students don’t lose their free speech rights, including the right to protest, when they walk through the school house door. It’s a great story of rights recognized, rights protected.

It is obvious that Superintendent Walters is a brainwashed, brain dead Trump boot licker with no understanding or care for the words of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. His lame excuses, false beliefs and dedication to National Christianity is so clearly demonstrated. Indeed, students should stand quietly or walk out of classrooms where this toxic video is played. He represents the American Taliban trying to force his beliefs on others. He should be dismissed, vilified and relegated to the anti democratic dustbin.

I have been reading about this guy for a while now. Yes, Steve he is dangerous. I believe he has some mental health issues. There is something off about him. This is not normal.

Also, I agree the students should walk out. Their parents should be right there with them.

Terrible situation.

Lets call this White Cristian Nationalism what it really is: The American Taliban-they have succeeded in controlling women to an excessive degree, they want their version of a religious cult to control everyone's lives and lifestyle. The constitution means nothing to them. We have a fight on our hands and we need to win-it will take time-stay focused. I've written to the Senate Judiciary reminding them of their duty to uphold the constitution on dealing with the cabinet designates. They have to be the adults for the nation while they deal with the nominees from the spoiled brat nominating them.

I promise you this is how Iran's ayatollahs, the Wahabbis in Saudi, and Afghanistan's Taliban started, but they did it in the 60's and 70's. America is behind their timeline, I guess, but I'm sure you'll catch up unless you stop this (cynical and stupid) shit now.

The OK news is our legislators refuse to get involved using the same old “elected by the people “ trope. The one official who spoke out lost his seat due to term limits. OK AG, state auditor all spoke out to no avail. OSDE is run by Ryan Walters and he often refuses to meet with legislators, pays thousands of dollars to a PR person to be his spokesperson (guy lives in TX who refuses to comment) but is paid by OK taxpayers. Walters is the protege of Kevin Stitt, OK governor & basically they are bulletproof at this juncture. The effect of living in a state that is 49th in education and really shooting for the 50th spot! When Stitt and Walters were elected , OK was 46th. Moving to 50 as fast as possible.
